Abstract

The purpose of this project is to identify the digital textbook that students need in language assessment and evaluation courses require, and to create that textbook using fliphtml5. This study employed the addie model as part of its research and development (r&d) methodology. A questionnaire, document list, and validation sheet are the methods used to collect the data. The department of English education of UIN Sultan Syarif Kasim Riau held this study on July 10, 2024. UIN Sultan Syarif Kasim Riau was the study's location. Participants in this study included lecturers and sixth-semester eed students. Data was also sent to learning material experts and media experts for validation in addition to need analysis. The study's findings demonstrate the need for digital textbooks as a tool in the teaching and learning process for both lecturers and students. The digital textbook, however, was based on a syllabus that appropriate with the higher curriculum. Additionally, the average calculation results (average measure) yielded a value of 0.620 with a moderate category, while the ICC reliability results (individual value, single measure) obtained an individual value of 0.450 or included in the poor category.

Abstract

Background. In the context of higher education, academic inequality is a serious obstacle in achieving equitable learning outcomes among students. Factors such as educational background, learning styles, and differences in mastery of material are the main triggers for this inequality. To overcome this challenge, innovative approaches such as adaptive learning based on Artificial Intelligence (AI) have emerged as a potential solution. Purpose. This research aims to investigate the potential of AI-based adaptive learning in overcoming academic inequality among students. By combining AI technology, this research seeks to provide personalized solutions tailored to each student's learning needs. Method. This research uses quantitative methods with a survey model. A total of 20 respondents were selected representatively to provide their views on learning experiences, preferences and views regarding adaptive learning. This survey provides relevant data to understand whether the implementation of AI-based adaptive learning can be considered an effective measure to reduce academic inequality. Results. The research results show that the majority of respondents face difficulties in understanding course material in general. However, most also expressed openness to the use of AI-based adaptive learning. This positive perception can be an indication of the potential success of implementing this technology as a solution to overcome academic inequality. Conclusion. Taking into account the research results, AI-based adaptive learning is promising as a solution that can align the learning needs of individual students. Although implementation challenges remain, this research provides initial impetus for further exploration of the application of AI technologies in achieving academic equity in higher education settings.

Using the ADDIE method, this study designed a project-based learning-based digital worksheet on students' writing skills using the Canva platform. With a quantitative approach in determining the effectiveness and practically of a digital worksheet. From the calculation of the results, it shows that with a sample of 106 people, the 5% r table is 0.632, meaning that the total is 0.503 > 0.195. And it was found that if the 1% r table is 0.256, it means 0.503 > 0.765. So, it can be concluded that the digital worksheets used are effective. In addition to being effective, the application of digital worksheets also improves students' writing skills. We are 95% confident that post-test scores are higher than pretest scores, with an average difference between 10,359 and 13,509), This indicates an improvement in overall learning outcomes

Abstract

Belief is the core of every religious teaching in advanced civilizations and remote indigenous communities. The existence and religious practice cannot be separated from the traditions that develop in the community. The interplay between religion and tradition is nearby. A qualitative approach was used to answer research questions related to (1) the relationship between religion and tradition in the Akit Tribe community and (2) to explain why this tradition is maintained. Data were obtained through in-depth interviews with informants like tribal chiefs, traditional healers, midwives, community leaders, and members. The results show that the practice of belief in the Akit Tribe follows their ancestors, even though they adhere to one official religion, especially Islam. Religion for the Akit Tribe is not crucial, it is only a compliment. Thus, there is no problem if they have a different religion. Religion is only for administrative purposes, such as getting married and making identity cards. Traditions are still maintained due to the low level of education and lack of understanding of their religion, especially Islam. It makes a practice of acculturation in belief and creates syncretism.

Abstract

This study examines the evolution of clerical attire, specifically the so-called Arab or hajj attire, comprising robes and turbans, and its role in shaping the identity of Nusantara clerics over centuries. In the context of the Hadith of the Prophet Muhammad, the question of the relevance of Arab attire to the Nusantara is a subject of divergent scholarly opinion. Some clerics consider it to be irrelevant, whilst others regard it as sunnah fi'liyah, analysing it from an ethical and aesthetic perspective. The present study employs qualitative methods, with a focus on historical approaches. To this end, it utilises a range of sources, including autobiographies and biographies, visual materials, such as images of clerics, and a series of interviews conducted with 19 individuals who are both historical witnesses and relatives of the aforementioned clerics. It is evident that in the 19th century, the adherents of Islam in the region of Riau were distinguished by their distinctive attire, which included the wearing of robes and turbans. The scholars' attire represented their elevated economic, social, and political status, in addition to their substantial religious authority. The robe and turban also became symbols of the scholars' anti-colonial struggle. The historical and cultural factors that influenced this acceptance included the Hajj pilgrimage, colonial government regulations pertaining to Hajj attire, the harmonisation of Arab attire with Malay culture, and the emergence of Sufi movements. Nevertheless, since the 20th century, the attire of Islamic scholars has experienced substantial modification, primarily due to the integration of Western educational frameworks and the rise of the contemporary Indonesian elite. The attire of clerics in Riau comprises trousers, Western-style suits, ties, and hats, in addition to skullcaps or peci, which collectively serve to establish a uniform appearance that mirrors that of other Indonesian intellectuals who have undergone modern educational pursuits. Moreover, religious attire in the form of robes and turbans began to be adopted as a collective identifier, rather than exclusively as a religious or clerical vestment, by certain Muslim communities
