Abstract

Urbanization is one of the factors that cause an increase in the number of residents in urban areas. The increase of population has an impact on increasing settlements which result in changes in land use. One of the residential areas in Medan City is Perumahan Taman Alamanda Indah which is located in Tanjung Selamat, Medan Tuntungan District. Around 60.7% of the area of Perumahan Taman Alamanda Indah is a closed area in the form of houses and roads which causes high surface runoff when heavy rain occurs. The study aims to plan infiltration wells that can function to reduce flood discharge in Perumahan Taman Alamanda Indah area. The planned infiltration well is a communal well that is divided into several zones. It is planned that 50% of the maximum discharge of rain that falls on the roof of the house is absorbed into the infiltration well. From the results of the study, the required number of infiltration wells is 430 units with a diameter of 1 m and a depth of 2 m which is divided into 13 zones. The construction of this infiltration well can reduce the peak discharge in housing by 36.71%.Key words: land use, infiltration wells, flood

Abstract

ABSTRAK Kekurangan debit air pada suatu irigasi sangat mempengaruhi terhadap hasil produksi suatu pertanian. Hal ini terjadi pada DI. Serbangan dan DI. Panca Arga yang memanfaatkan air dari sungai Bunut di Kabupaten Asahan. Sedangkan di dekat sungai Bunut terdapat sungai Silau yang memiliki debit air sangat besar. Untuk itu perlu dilakukan penelitian guna menilai potensi dilakukannya suplesi dari sungai Silau ke sungai Bunut untuk meningkatkan debit air sungai Bunut.Dari hasil penelitian yang dilakukan didapat bahwa sungai Silau berpotensi untuk menyuplesi debit air ke sungai Bunut sebesar 4 /detik. Lokasi hulu saluran yang potensial berawal pada koordinat 2°53'56.53" LU dan 99°30'47.88" BT yang terletak di sungai Silau dekat pabrik PTPN 3 Kecamatan Buntu Pane sampai pada koordinat 2°56'23.66" LU dan 99°30'57.27" BT yang terletak di sungai Bunut yang berada di Kecamatan Setia Janji dengan selisih elevasi muka air sebesar 1,54 m. Panjang saluran direncanakan berjarak 5 km berbentuk trapesium dengan lebar saluran 5 m, kemiringan talud 1:1, dan kedalaman 1,84 m. Lebar pintu air direncanakan sebesar 1,03 m dan tingginya sebesar 2,44 m.

Abstract

Desa Timbang Jaya memiliki sumberdaya air yang menjadi potensi untuk dikembangkan menjadi objek wisata. Selain itu Pemerintahan Desa juga memiliki komitmen untuk menjadikan desanya menjadi desa yang mandiri. Mandiri dalam arti tidak hanya sekedar melakukan pembangunan desa dengan mengandalkan dana desa, namun juga dapat menciptakan sumber pendapatan melalui usaha sendiri. Usaha ini nantinya diharapkan tidak hanya sebagai penambah kas desa, namun juga dapat meningkatkan pendapatan masyarakat desa. Hal yang menjadi permasalahan pada Desa Timbang Jaya adalah kebutuhan kerjasama untuk menata potensi sumberdaya yang dimiliki. Desa Timbang Jaya memiliki sumberdaya air yang potensial namun belum dapat dikelola untuk menjadi sumber pendapatan tambahan desa dan masyarakat. Metode yang diterapkan pada kegiatan pengabdian yaitu dengan melakukan diskusi bersama masyarakat untuk memperoleh alternatif kegiatan serta mengimplementasikan kegiatan tersebut dalam bentuk penataan objek wisata. Dari hasil diskusi dengan masyarakat disepakati kegiatan yang akan dilakukan yaitu menata objek wisata air dengan melakukan pengecatan pada dinding saluran irigasi primer dan menebarkan benih ikan pada saluran tersebut untuk menjadi daya tarik bagi pengunjung. Kegiatan telah dilaksanakan sesuai rencana dan telah memberikan solusi atas harapan mitra dengan melakukan penataan objek wisata air.

Abstract

Hydrological analysis is conducted to determine the rainfall discharge that can be accommodated by the river with various specific return periods and hydraulic analysis to examine the water level that impacts the toll bridge that passes through the Sei Batang Serangan river. Therefore, this research was conducted to calculate the design flood discharge for the return period of 2, 5, 10, 25, and 50 years; and the water level elevation of Sei Batang Serangan toll bridge in the Sei Batang Serangan riverside. Based on hydraulic analysis using the HEC-RAS 5.0 program from steady flow data, the maximum water level elevation is at River Sta 5+00 of 10.52 m in a 50-year return period, and the minimum water level elevation is at River Sta 2+00 of 4.45 m in a 2-year return period. Thus, based on the flood water level of 12.691 meters, the Sei Wampu toll bridge area does not have flood inundation because the water level elevation value does not exceed the flood water level value (TMA < MAB). Meanwhile, from the results of the steady flow data analysis, it can be concluded that no flooding occurred at the Sei Batang Serangan toll bridge in the Sei Batang Serangan riverside at a known return period.

Abstract

The problem of flooding is one of the important tasks that must be completed in the city of Medan. Flood disasters have the potential to cause casualties, so it is important to know the level of community readiness in dealing with flood disasters. This study aims to include the involvement of the community in flood-prone areas in the city of Medan and compare the readiness of each urban districts in dealing with floods. This has a long-term goal to minimize the negative impact of flooding in the city of Medan with a bottom-up approach. The research will use a quantitative approach, namely a questionnaire to 200 respondents consisting of households that are in flood-prone locations at several points in the city of Medan. The primary data obtained from the questionnaire will be analyzed and tested for face validity. The final result of the research is expected to be able to project the level of community readiness in the city of Medan in dealing with floods and become a reference for policy makers related to flood disaster management in the city of Medan. It can be concluded from the preliminary result that Aur Urban Village has the highest value in terms of level of preparedness in comparison to the other 9 urban villages. The informality of Aur Urban Village is argued to have a significant correlation with the high level of preparedness from the residents in Aur Urban Village. keywords: Flooding, community readiness, disaster management, preparedness, buttom-up approach.

Abstract

Fasilitas sanitasi yang layak berperan penting dalam menciptakan lingkungan belajar yang sehat dan nyaman. Namun, SD Negeri 060955 di Medan menghadapi berbagai kendala sanitasi, seperti toilet yang rusak, minimnya tempat sampah, dan fasilitas cuci tangan yang tidak berfungsi dengan baik. Keterbatasan anggaran menjadi tantangan utama dalam upaya perbaikannya. Melalui program pengabdian masyarakat ini, dilakukan perbaikan toilet, penyediaan tempat sampah terpilah, serta perbaikan fasilitas cuci tangan guna meningkatkan kualitas sanitasi sekolah. Sebagai bagian dari edukasi lingkungan, siswa diberikan pembelajaran mengenai Perilaku Hidup Bersih dan Sehat (PHBS) untuk menumbuhkan kesadaran akan pentingnya menjaga kebersihan dan kesehatan lingkungan sekolah. Kegiatan ini dilaksanakan melalui survei awal untuk mengidentifikasi permasalahan, renovasi fasilitas, serta sosialisasi bagi siswa dan tenaga kependidikan. Hasil evaluasi menunjukkan bahwa seluruh toilet kini berfungsi baik, fasilitas cuci tangan kembali operasional, dan tempat sampah telah tersedia sesuai standar pemilahan. Selain itu, siswa menunjukkan antusiasme serta partisipasi aktif selama edukasi lingkungan berlangsung, yang mengindikasikan adanya peningkatan kesadaran terhadap kebersihan lingkungan sekolah.

Abstract

The area around the Universitas Sumatera Utara Campus, Medan city, is an area that is often hit by floods, especially when there is quite heavy rain with a fairly long duration. Based on initial observations, it can be said that this is due to the drainage channel being unable to accommodate the high rainwater discharge. To overcome this, the 2021 USU TALENTA Community Service Program offered a solution by creating a sustainable drainage system that is environmentally insight. The solution starts with the smallest thing that each household in the affected area can do, namely through making biopori holes. In addition to biopori, another solution taken is through the construction of infiltration wells and groundwater tanks. Conducted training and simulation activities on these three solutions of environmentally sustainable drainage systems. It is hoped that it will gradually reduce water runoff directly into the city drainage, but the water can be partially absorbed into the ground first, to reduce standing water which can eventually cause flooding.

Abstract

Indonesia has significant water resources potential for the development of hydropower plants, including the Batang Toru River with a power potential of 510 MW that has not yet been fully utilized. This study aims to analyze the hydrological potential of the Batang Toru River, calculate the potential electricity generation capacity, and evaluate the potential reduction of carbon emissions to support sustainable and environmentally friendly hydropower operations. The research methods include literature review, collection of historical rainfall and river discharge data, hydrological analysis to determine reliable discharge, hydraulic analysis to calculate the effective head, and simulation of the potential power generation capacity. The results show that the 90% reliable discharge (Q90) of 72.67 m³/s is insufficient to meet the 510 MW power demand, thus requiring the construction of a reservoir with a design discharge of 219.494 m³/s. With this discharge, the Batang Toru Hydropower Plant can generate 510 MW of electricity and is estimated to reduce carbon emissions by 1,326,645 tons per year. This study recommends expanding hydrological data coverage, utilizing GIS-based modeling technology, and conducting economic feasibility and environmental impact analyses to improve the efficiency and sustainability of the hydropower plant

Abstract

Analisis kerentanan air tanah dilakukan sebagai upaya awal untuk mengatasi penurunan potensi air tanah yang mempengaruhi tinggi muka air tanah, debit air tanah, penurunan permukaan/tanah, dan kualitas air tanah yang dapat menimbulkan pencemaran. Oleh karena itu, perlu dilakukan analisis kerentanan air tanah untuk menjadi acuan dalam pengelolaan air tanah. Hal ini dilakukan dengan menggunakan Metode GOD. Metode GOD (Groundwater Occurrence, Overlaying Lithology and Depth of Groundwater) dilakukan untuk mengkaji kerentanan air tanah di sekitar TPA Terjun di Kota Medan. Metode GOD merupakan metode untuk mengkaji tiga parameter yaitu jenis akuifer, jenis litologi di atas akuifer dan kedalaman muka air tanah. Berdasarkan hasil analisis parameter GOD dari ke tiga parameter maka diperoleh nilai dari indeks GOD adalah 0,5 yang menunjukkan kerentanan air tanah berada pada menengah/sedang).
