Abstract

Sukosari Village is one of the villages in Kasembon District which has great potential in agriculture. In Sukosari Village, there is a Kelompok Wanita Tani (KWT) called KWT “Sri Tanjung” which has been producing food processing and agricultural handicrafts. Processed food products that have been produced and marketed are corn, cassava, and gadung chips, and packaged drinks called "Jaselang". These products have been packaged in good packaging and following the packaging requirements of food products. However, due to a large number of competitors with attractive packaging, this KWT member felt that packaging was one of the important things in attracting buyers. Another problem faced by partners is that so far they have done the packaging manually, there is no packaging machine used to package the food products produced. Thus, the purpose of Doktor Mengabdi program is to transfer knowledge related to packaging technology and provide assistance in the product packaging process. The method used in this activity is counseling and assistance related to food product packaging technology. Also, because in this activity two packaging machines were donated, namely an automatic bottle closing machine and a horizontal band sealer machine, the practice of using both machines was carried out. The results of this activity show that the empowerment activities are going well, KWT members have good knowledge of packaging technology. In addition, the existence of two packaging machines that were donated further increased their productivity.

Abstract

This study investigates how English Foreign Language (EFL) learners in Indonesia pronounce English Consonant Clusters. Several points must be mastered by the learners when they learn English such as writing, listening, reading and speaking. From those points, speaking is one of the essential points since language is used to communicate by speaking.  In learning English as a second language, there are several mispronunciations made by the learners when they speak especially when they face consonant clusters since they have different phonological systems and they do not know how to pronounce them correctly. It makes them have mispronunciations and it can lead the misperception, misunderstanding and miscommunication among the speakers and the listeners. The result revealed that there were eight types of incorrect consonant clusters that the writer asked to the participants such as [ʃr], [θr], [sk], [br], [spl], [skr,] [skw], and [ksp]. Among those types of consonant clusters, there were three types of consonant clusters pronounced incorrectly by the participants such as [ʃr], [θr], and [sk]. Then, the five types of consonant clusters such as [br], [spl], [skr,] [skw], and [ksp]. However, several of them tried to challenge themselves to pronounce English words correctly even though they faced some difficulties in every word by forcing their pronunciation so that they could switch the word to an easier version of phonemes. Although they changed those words to the easier version, it would impact how the misunderstanding occurred since the sound produced was different. Keywords: English consonant clusters, EFL, phonetic, phonology

Abstract

The COVID-19 pandemic has triggered a transformation in online learning, requiring teachers and lecturers to adapt to educational technology, including Virtual Reality (VR) Tour. However, limited understanding and motivation are the main challenges in implementing this technology. This community service aims to provide practical training in developing VR Tour as an interactive learning media for teachers and lecturers at Rumah Diklat Indonesia. The implementation method involves an online workshop using the Zoom application, which includes a tutorial on creating 360° panoramic photos via Google Street View and processing VR Tour via the Theasys.io platform. Participants also receive technical guidance and hands-on practice sessions. The results show that participants are able to produce VR Tour content for learning, as well as improve their understanding of technology integration in education. This training equips participants with basic skills to develop virtual learning media, expand students' learning access creatively and innovatively. In conclusion, the use of VR Tour has the potential to improve the quality of distance learning, while encouraging educators to continue to adapt to technological developments in the digital era.
