Abstract

Diabetes mellitus is a chronic metabolic disorder that manifests as a persistent elevation in blood glucose levels. This study aims to analyze the effect of a combination of Virgin Coconut Oil (VCO) and Olive Oil on the reduction of random blood glucose (RBG) levels in diabetes mellitus patients in the working area of Baregbeg Health Center, Ciamis. This study uses a quasi-experimental design with a two-group pretest-posttest design. A total of 60 respondents were involved and proportionally divided into the intervention group and the control group. Participants in the intervention group were given a combination of VCO and Olive Oil at a dose of 25 ml/day for 7 days, while the control group continued their daily activities without any additional intervention. Measurement of GDS levels was conducted on the first and seventh days to monitor changes longitudinally. Based on the Wilcoxon statistical test, a statistically significant decrease in blood glucose levels was found in the intervention group with a p-value of 0.001 (p < 0.05). On the contrary, the control group tended to experience an increase. It is concluded that the combination of VCO and Olive Oil significantly affects the reduction of blood glucose levels in patients with diabetes mellitus and has the potential to be used as a complementary therapy.

Abstract

Introduction: Infancy is a golden period in a child's life, marked by rapid and significant physical growth and motor, cognitive, language, and social-emotional development. Infant development and growth are interrelated processes that greatly determine the quality of human resources in the future. Infancy, especially between 0 and 12 months, is called the golden period because brain development is rapid during this period. Babies need appropriate and continuous stimulation, a safe environment, and adequate nutrition. One important external factor that can affect the optimal growth and development of children is stimulation. Lack of stimulation in early life can cause delays in children's motor, language, cognitive, and social-emotional development. Objective: The purpose of this community service activity is to increase mothers' knowledge and understanding of the importance of stimulating the growth and development of babies aged 0-12 months. Method: The method used in this activity was counseling in the form of interactive lectures. Result: The results of Community Service show an increase in knowledge of 20 points compared to the pre-test average score, which is equivalent to an increase of 33.33% in counseling on child growth and development. This increase shows that counseling with interactive lectures is effective in increasing participants' knowledge. Conclusion: Community service activities in the form of counseling accompanied by interactive lectures have been proven to increase mothers' knowledge and understanding of the importance of stimulating the growth and development of babies aged 0-12 months.

Abstract

Background: Body dissatisfaction and negative perceptions of body image are common problems among adolescents, particularly adolescent girls, which can have adverse effects on mental health. The development of digital technology provides opportunities to deliver more flexible and accessible preventive interventions. Objective: This study aims to examine the effectiveness of the Bication digital application as a preventive intervention in reducing negative body image behavior among adolescent girls. Methods: This research employed a quantitative approach with a pre-experimental one-group pretest-posttest design. The sample consisted of 60 adolescent girls from the D3 Midwifery Study Program at STIKes Muhammadiyah Ciamis, semesters 2-4, who used the Bication application. The instrument used was the validated Multidimensional Body-Self Relations Questionnaire--Appearance Scale. Data analysis was conducted using the paired sample t-test to determine differences before and after the intervention. Results: The results showed a significant increase in positive perceptions of body image after using the Bication application (p < 0.05). Participants also demonstrated an overall decrease in negative body image behavior scores. Conclusion: The Bication digital application proved effective as a preventive intervention for reducing negative body image behavior among adolescent girls. Further development is recommended by expanding the scope of educational features and involving larger and more diverse samples.
