Abstract

Analysis of the heavy metal lead (Pb) has been carried out in hydroponic leachate using nutrients (A-B mix) of pak-choy plants using the Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometer method. The samples used were 5 samples originating from 5 hydroponic installations at 2 different hydroponic cultivation locations. The research was carried out in the 2nd and 4th weeks of the hydroponic planting period. The sample preparation was wet destruction using HNO3. The research results showed that the levels of the heavy metal lead (Pb) in the 2nd week of testing, namely sample A was 0.9418 ppm: sample B was 0.9418 ppm; sample C was 2.2906 ppm; sample D was 2.2906 ppm and sample E was 6.3488 ppm. However, in the 4th week of testing no lead heavy metal contamination was found, the five samples used showed results <0.0016. So the results obtained are still below the quality standard value, namely a maximum of 5 ppm based on Minister of Agriculture Regulation No.261/KPTS/SR.310/M/4/2019. Abstract

Research on utilization of Kiambang powder (Salvinia molesta) as adsorbent Fe (II) and Mn (II) in artificial samples. The method used is adsorption with a modified activated adsorbent. From the results of the study obtained optimum conditions for adsorption of Fe (II) at pH of 4, time of 30 minutes and adsorption capacity of 0.158 mg/g. The optimum conditions for the adsorption of Mn metal ions at pH of 6, time of 60 minutes and adsorption capacity of 2.522 mg/g.

Abstract

Pencemaran Sungai Sanga-Sanga dapat disebabkan oleh buangan sektor pemukiman maupun sektor industri pertambangan Penggunaan indeks kualitas air dapat mempermudah penentuan kualitas air sungai serta mempermudah juga dalam pemberian informasi kepada pihak yang membutuhkan. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengkaji kualitas air Sungai Sanga-Sanga ditinjau dari parameter fisika, kimia dan biologi serta menentukan status mutu Sungai Sanga-Sanga dengan metode Indeks Pencemaran. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian deskriptif kuantitatif yang bersifat ex-post facto dengan menggunakan metode Indeks Pencemaran untuk menentukan status mutu air Sungai Sanga-Sanga. Status mutu air Sungai Sanga-Sanga berdasarkan Indeks Pencemaran berada pada kondisi tercemar ringan.

Abstract

Electrodecolorization of liquid waste from the Samarinda woven sarong industry using PbO2/Pb electrode has been conducted. The purpose of this study was to decolorize woven sarong wastewater samples using the electrodecolorization method using lead dioxide (PbO2) as the anode and lead (Pb) as the cathode. Electrodecolorization is carried out by varying working potential, Na2SO4 electrolyte concentration, time and electrode distance. The dye concentration was determined using a UV-Vis spectrophotometer. The research results showed that the optimum conditions for electrodecolorization of woven sarong wastewater samples were using PbO2/Pb electrodes, namely with a working potential of 6 volts, a Na2SO4 electrolyte concentration of 0.25 M, a time of 60 minutes, and a distance of 1 cm. The percentage of decolorization of Samarinda woven sarong wastewater samples using PbO2/Pb electrodes, at maximum conditions was 98,75%.

Abstract

Consumption of pineapple fruit (Ananas comosus (L) Merr) results in solid waste of about 45-65%, especially the pineapple crown. On the other hand, the textile industry uses dyes such as recolors that can cause pollution in the aquatic environment. This study aims to use activated charcoal from chitosan-modified pineapple crown as an adsorbent for direct dyes. The steps taken are characterizing activated charcoal, chitosan and chitosan-modified activated charcoal using Fourier Transform Infrared (FT-IR) and Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM), optimizing with variations in mass, contact time and pH, and determining the maximum adsorption capacity. Preparation of pineapple crown activated charcoal carbonated at 400oC for 1 hour. Activated using 2% NaOH and then modified with chitosan. The chitosan-modified pineapple crown activated charcoal was used to adsorb the dye direct black and analyzed using a UV-Vis spectrophotometer. The results of FT-IR characterization of pineapple crown activated charcoal, chitosan and chitosan-modified pineapple crown activated charcoal indicated the presence of O-H, C-H (stretching), C=O and C-H (bending) groups, and in chitosan and chitosan-modified activated charcoal also indicated the appearance of overlapping N-H (amine), C-N (amide) and C-O-C groups. The results of SEM characterization of pineapple crown activated charcoal show that the surface has a smooth texture, chitosan has a rough and irregular texture surface and chitosan-modified pineapple crown activated charcoal has small clumps of various sizes and shapes. The results of the optimum conditions of adsorption of chitosan-modified pineapple crown activated charcoal on black rec dye occurred at a mass of 0.25 grams, contact time for 20 minutes and pH 7 with a maximum adsorption capacity of 11,6472 mg/g following the Langmuir isotherm.

Abstract

ABSTRAK Penelitian tentang adsorpsi Sinarcion Red C8B menggunakan arang aktif magnetik berbasis limbah ampas tebu telah dilakukan. Adsorben komposit Fe3O4 arang aktif ampas tebu disintesis dari FeCl3.6H2O dan (NH4)2Fe(SO4)2.6H2O dengan perbandingan 2:1 yang dikompositkan dengan arang aktif ampas tebu. Adsorben komposit Fe3O4 arang aktif ampas tebu dikarakterisasi dengan menggunakan instrumen Fourier Transform Infrared (FTIR) dan X-Ray Diffraction (XRD) serta dilakukan uji adsorpsi dengan menentukan waktu kontak, berat optimum, menentukan kapasitas adsorpsi dan menentukan persen adsorpsi dari sampel limbah kain tenun Sarung Samarinda. Hasil karakterisasi spektra FTIR komposit Fe3O4 arang aktif menunjukkan telah terbentuknya komposit dengan ditandai munculnya serapan pada bilangan gelombang 1222,25 cm-1 yaitu adanya gugus C-O dan munculnya serapan khas gugus Fe-O pada bilangan gelombang 573,94 cm-1. Difraktogram XRD komposit Fe3O4 arang aktif menunjukkan pola difraksi arang berbentuk amorf. Adsorpsi zat warna Sinarcion Red C8B pada waktu kontak 45 menit, berat optimum 0,1 g, mengikuti pola isoterm Freundlich dengan kapasitas adsorpsi maksimum sebesar 1,0489 mg/g dan persen adsorpsi dari sampel limbah kain tenun Sarung Samarinda sebesar 21,69%.

Abstract

A study has been conducted on the adsorption of methylene blue dye using Fe3O4-ihau fruit peel powder composite as the adsorbent. The Fe3O4-ihau fruit peel powder composite adsorbent was synthesized using the co-precipitation method from FeSO4.7H2O and FeCl3.6H2O in a 3:2 ratio, then composited with ihau fruit peel powder. The resulting Fe3O4-ihau fruit peel powder composite was characterized using Fourier Transform Infra-Red (FTIR), Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM), and X-Ray Diffractometer (XRD). FTIR characterization results of the Fe3O4-ihau fruit peel powder composite showed an absorption peak at a wave number of 586.36 cm-1, corresponding to the Fe-O group. SEM revealed that the Fe3O4-ihau fruit peel powder composite has an uneven surface and smaller pores compared to the ihau fruit peel powder, and XRD showed a diffractogram of the Fe3O4-ihau fruit peel powder composite that closely resembled that of Fe3O4. Methylene blue adsorption by the Fe3O4-ihau fruit peel powder composite adsorbent was optimal at pH 4 with an optimum contact time of 75 minutes, and it had a maximum adsorption capacity of 43.7267 mg/g. The adsorption isotherm followed the Langmuir isotherm, and the adsorption of methylene blue dye using Fe3O4-ihau fruit peel powder composite adsorbent occurs spontaneously, endothermically, and by physisorption.
