Abstract

This study aimed to analyze the relationship between knowledge about hypertension and adherence to taking medication in the elderly at Puskesmas Nanggeleng, Sukabumi City. This analytic observational study with a cross-sectional design involved 74 elderly people diagnosed with hypertension. Data were collected using a questionnaire that included demographic information, knowledge about hypertension, and medication adherence based on MMAS-8. Analysis was conducted using chi-square test with significant results (p-value 0.002 <0.05), indicating a positive relationship between hypertension knowledge and medication adherence. The majority of respondents (93.2%) had a good level of knowledge, while 86.5% showed high compliance in taking medication. Educational factors, especially the high school level of the majority of respondents (40.5%), play a significant role in improving knowledge and compliance. Family support is also an important factor in ensuring medication adherence. The results of this study emphasize the importance of health education to increase elderly knowledge about hypertension, so as to encourage adherence to treatment. The role of nurses as health educators is crucial in this process. This study makes an important contribution in identifying factors that influence the successful management of hypertension in the elderly, and suggests improving educational programs that involve families to encourage treatment adherence.

Abstract

This study aimed to analyze the relationship between community beliefs and the use of traditional medicine in the working area of Karang Tengah Health Center, Sukabumi. This study used a quantitative research design with correlational analytic method and cross-sectional approach. A total of 99 respondents were selected using accidental sampling technique from a population of 20,790. Primary data were collected through a questionnaire that evaluated the community's belief in traditional medicine as well as the frequency of its use, while secondary data were obtained from the annual report of the puskesmas and official sources of the Ministry of Health. Data were analyzed using the Chi-Square test to measure the relationship between variables. The results showed that the majority of respondents had a high level of trust in traditional medicine (43.4%) and most used traditional medicine at a moderate level (44.4%). Bivariate analysis revealed a significant association between the level of trust and the use of traditional medicine with a p value of <0.05. Factors such as bad experiences with modern medicine, socio-cultural influences, and more affordable costs encourage people to choose traditional medicine. This study concludes that people's trust significantly influences their decision to use traditional medicine. These results are expected to contribute to the development of more inclusive health policies by effectively integrating traditional and modern medicine

Abstract

Introduction: Inclusive leadership emphasizes openness, respect, and appreciation of diversity in the workplace. In healthcare settings, particularly in nursing, leadership style significantly influences job satisfaction and quality of service. However, variations in leadership practices may impact the work environment and staff performance differently. Objectives: This study aimed to analyze the relationship between the inclusive leadership of ward heads and the job satisfaction of nurses in the inpatient rooms of RSI Assyifa Sukabumi. Methods: A quantitative, correlational analytic design with a descriptive approach was used. The study involved 73 nurses selected through stratified random sampling from a total population of 90 nurses. Data were collected using a validated and reliable questionnaire. Univariate analysis was used to describe respondent characteristics, while bivariate analysis using the Chi-Square and Fisher’s Exact Test was conducted to examine the relationship between inclusive leadership and job satisfaction. The study was carried out between November and December 2024. Results: Most nurses rated inclusive leadership as good (54.8%) or very good (43.8%), and job satisfaction as good (61.6%) or very good (34.2%). Bivariate analysis showed a statistically significant relationship between inclusive leadership and nurses’ job satisfaction (p = 0.041), as determined by Fisher’s Exact Test. Conclusions: The findings indicate that inclusive leadership by ward heads is positively associated with nurse job satisfaction. Strengthening inclusive leadership practices can contribute to a more supportive work environment, improved motivation, and better nursing performance, ultimately enhancing patient care quality.
