Abstract

Real Analysis is a compulsory subject for the 3rd grade students of Mathematics Education that most of students  are considered it as a difficult course, due to the abstract of material especially on the matter of the Real Numbers. The purpose of this research is to design learning materials with SOLO taxonomy completed with such a multilevel exercise form super item to obtain a valid learning materials and practical to address the difficulties of students in learning the material of Number Real. This research uses research methods of modified Plomp. The referred design in this research is the design of learning materials. The results show that 1) The material design includes in valid criteria, based on the average value of validation materials of 4.52; 2) The practicality of material design is gained from the results of students positive response that is  91.96% and a good ability of the lecturer in teaching using materials that have been compiled.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the importance of students 'mathematical understanding, but the fact is that students' mathematical understanding is still low in working on algebraic form questions. This problem brings out a learning obstacle, where students cannot interpret the algebraic form elements and cannot operate the algebraic form. This study aimed to design a didactic design phase using fables based on students' mathematical understanding. The research method is descriptive qualitative research. Design is Didactical Design Research (DDR) with 15 junior high school students as subjects. The data was collected using triangulation techniques, then analyzed descriptively. This study results in a didactic design in the form of a situation that can anticipate students' learning obstacles in algebraic form material and facilitate students' thinking process. Situations are created using exciting pictures and stories to motivate student learning. The results show that the situations that have been created make it easier for students to group similar and dissimilar terms and can operate the algebraic form easily and algorithmically. The students also can interpret the elements of the algebraic form along with addition and subtraction operations in the algebraic form based on the understanding of each student.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the low understanding of students in studying the object of geometry study. The media that had previously been used in the form of a spatial framework made of bamboo or iron turned out to take up quite a lot of space and was not practical to carry in large quantities. Therefore, efficient and practical media are needed to help visualize concrete objects in learning. This research aims to implement Augmented Reality (AR)-assisted learning media on the material of three-dimensional shapes. This study uses an explanatory qualitative method. The participant in this study was one student from one of the junior high schools in the Cirebon Regency. Data collection techniques used are through interviews and documentation. The analysis technique consists of three stages: data reduction, data presentation, and concluding. The results showed that the AR application could make it easier for the student to understand the material and solve the problem of three-dimensional shapes. However, the student still has a little difficulty using the application and is a little confused when identifying the parts of the cube because the image of the shape raised by the application is still not clear. This research implies that AR applications can make students' spatial abilities better.

Abstract

This research was motivated by students' difficulties understanding the basic concepts of abstract flat-side spatial shapes. So, learning media is needed to help students understand the material that is made interesting by utilising technology in the form of virtual reality. The research aims to determine the development of virtual reality media towards students' conceptual understanding, which has been tested validly and practically, so that it can be used as an active and exciting learning media. The method used in this research is a qualitative approach using the Research and Development method and the ADDIE model using the Millealab application. Participants were eighth-grade students at junior high schools. The outcomes of the research show that virtual reality is an innovative learning media that utilises technological developments in learning media and provides a quick, engaging, and fun understanding so that students can more easily understand mathematical concepts in flat-sided material. Virtual reality learning media has been extensively tested to be valid, practical, and suitable for use in learning. Suggestions for this research can provide an innovative development of virtual learning media, which still has many shortcomings, so that it is much better and produces like learning.

Abstract

In the era of modernisation, conceptual understanding and mathematical representation are key components of education. However, many students still encounter difficulties in understanding and accurately representing rectangular prisms. This study addresses the need for innovative learning by examining students' experiences in understanding and representing rectangular prisms through a Role-Playing Game-based educational game and module. This study employed a qualitative method to understand the experiences of 17 eighth-grade junior high school students in learning rectangular prisms through an RPG game and a supplementary module. Data were collected through observation, module analysis, and documentation and then analysed thematically. The findings revealed that while some students found it easier to grasp concepts through visual exploration, others struggled to apply these concepts flexibly beyond the game. Students who actively engaged in gameplay demonstrated a deeper understanding and were better able to make meaningful conceptual connections. Although verbal representation improved significantly, symbolic representation remained challenging for some students. This study emphasises the importance of designing educational games that support conceptual understanding and representation skills. The implications of this study highlight the need for the development of interactive learning media that can facilitate students' conceptual connections and foster their mathematical representation skills.
