Abstract

The environment room condition or dormitory is the condition of base for a group, generally for student or collegents. This condition based on the healthy of room or dormitory and personal hygiene.This research is descriptive and use survey method. The population of this research are all students of midwifery Academy that consists of 58 persons and all of population as a sample.The purpose of this research is to know the description of condition  dormitory environment and personal hygiene in dormitory of midwifery Academy Baruna Husada Sibuhuan Tahun 2013.Research it is found the condition of dormitory that’s the ventilatoni,humidity, lighting, already qualified health according to Permenkes No.829/ Menkes/ SK/ 1999 occupant density while not yet eligible, skin cleanliness, fashion cleanliness, a towel clienliness whose bad category, while the hand and nail cleanlines and the bed and cover bed clienlines whose moderate category are.It is expected to the managers of the dormitory midwifery Academy to provide the facilities of dormitory that already meet health requirements and keep the facilities well. Moreover, the persons of dormitory midwifery Academy to keep the skin clienliness to avoid from skin disease.

Abstract

Aedes,spp mosquitoes are vectors of various diseases (dengue fever, filariasis, chikungunya and yellow fever). To controll the vector borne disease can be done by controlling its vector. One of the way to control the disease is using the synthetic insecticide that are toxic to human, so it is necessary to use natural insecticide.The purpose of this study is to utilize the leaves of breadfruit plant (Artocarpus altilis) as an electrical mat to kill mosquito Aedes.This research was quasi-experimental with completely randomized design (CRD) with 6 treatments (the weight of breadfruit leaf powder of 0 mg, 100 mg, 200 mg, 300 mg, 400 mg and 500 mg) with 3 times repetitions.The result indicate that there were the difference of mosquito mortality based on the weight of each mat with three repetitions during 30 minutes observation. The mosquito mortality rate at weight of 100 mg was 33,33%, 200 mg was 40%, 300 mg was 53,33% (reached the LD 50), 400 mg was 46,67%, 500 mg was 46,67%, and there was no mortality in control. Based on the result of statistical test of one-way Anova with significance level of 5%, it was obtained that p(0,976)> α(0,05), which means there was no difference in the average number of Aedes,spp mosquitoes dead significantly.The conclusion is breadfruit leaves (Artocarpus altilis) can be used as an electrical mat to Aedes,spp, and the effective weight of breadfruit leaves to kill Aedes,spp was 300 mg.

Abstract

Water highly an important role in influencing human health, because it can be a medium of transmission of various diseases. therefore water is used to meet the needs of daily that must be protected from pollution especially it for drinking. Ice is kind of snacks were popular community drink Ice cubes were frozen water, which is cooled below 0 ° C. Ice cubes were used as a complement or an additive beverage drinks. There were several types of ice cubes one ice block and ice crystals. The purpose of this study was to determine the factors relate with beverage vendors in selecting the type of ice cubes in the central market of Medan. This research is Analytical . Population in this study were 94 people with 48 samples. Sample were taken by using systematic random sampling. Of this research note that the percentage of respondents elementary education level by 4.2%, 12.5% junior high, high school 75.0%, 8.3% PT. Respondents using the ice crystals were 60.4% and 39.6% ice beam. Respondents who had a good knowledge of 81.3%, of respondents who had a good attitude to the category of 52.1%, of respondents who had a good measure of 75.0%. There is a relation between education and type of ice that used α (0.076 <0.1) means that Ho is rejected, there is a relationship of knowledge with ice cubes used α (0.001 <0.1) means that Ho is rejected, there is a relationship with the kind of attitude that used ice cubes α (0.004 <0.1) means that Ho is rejected, no relation to the type of action used ice cubes α (0.001 <0.1) means that Ho is rejected. Traders expected the drinks were still using ice blocks that do not use ice beamagain.Key words: Type Ice Cubes

Abstract

Abstract Among the many animal diseases in Indonesia, a parasitic disease has received less attention from the breeder. Diseases in livestock is one of the obstacles encountered in the development of animal husbandry, Among parasitic disease that causes loss of body condition and a decrease in the productivity. Among parasitic diseases are very harmful disease caused by liver fluke (Fasciola hepatica). The purpose of this study to describe the liver fluke (fasciola hepatica) in cattle liver and feces were taken from the slanghterhause in Mabar Medan years 2013. The method used in this study is a survey that is both descriptive, object of research is the heart and cow feces samples to be studied were 12 liver and 12 feces beef. Based on the research content of worms and aggs in the liver and feces from the liver slaughterhouse in Mabar Medan has qualified. Beef liver condition are made in the sample were is beef liver (100%) and 12 samples of beef feces (100%) in theabattoir has qualified Mabar Medan. The conclusion that Beef liver condition which sampled a total of 12 beef liver in a battoir in Mabar Medan qualify. Conditions are made in the cow feces sample of 12 feces slaughterhouse cows in field Mabar Medan. For city farm field offices are expected to conduct ontreach to owners of cattle in order to increase the knowledge of good cattle rearing. Abstract

Water is essential for life, but in many cases the water used was not always in accordance with the requirements of health because of the pollution that occurs in water, especially groundwater contaminated by heavy metal pollutants cadmium (Cd) due to excessive use of fertilizers in farming. The objective of the research is to determine the content of cadmium (Cd) in the wells water and construction of the wells around the rice fields in Desa Mompang Kecamatan Padangsidimpuan Angkola Julu Kota Padangsidimpuan. This research used a descriptive survey design to describe the content of cadmium (Cd) in wells water around the rice fields in qualitative and quantitative results obtained from laboratory tests based Permenkes RI No. 416/MEN/KES/IX/1990 about terms and Water Quality Monitoring, and used the Hit Chain. Sample was selected by purposive sampling about 30 wells. The results showed that all of the well was cadmium (Cd) contented. There as many as 17 wells (56.7%) did not qualified. Quantitatively in the lowest well water contained in the well 24 was 0.00276 mg/l and the highest content found in wells 4 was 0.00684 mg/l. Water conditions and wells construction were in the intermediate level of contamination of cadmium (Cd) with 60,0% Researchers had assumed that the entry of cadmium (Cd) into the wells public in Desa Mompang tanded to increase in wells within <10 meters from the rice fields to obtain quite high runoff pollution burden derived from the remnants of phosphate fertilizers that settled and accumulated on the ground then influenced by the construction of dug wells were unstandarized made perfect pollutants into wells. It was recommended to the farmers in Desa Mompang Kecamatan Padangsidimpuan Angkola Julu Kota Padangsidimpuan to use fertilizer according to the recommended dosage so it didn’t impact on the environment, especially water well contamination. Abstract

Hygiene, sanitation and health of skin complaints the residents of padang bulan village boarding selayang subdistrict medan selayang I. Complaints of skin health is one thing that is very often experienced by boarder, residents of the boarding school, boarding house residents and also in the form of a typical hives (morning, afternoon, evening or night) and the emergence of full-red swollen bumps on the surface of the skin and itch. Faizal research (2011), in the men's dormitory USU percentage who experience health complaints of skin by 72,4%, the impact of the use of water sourced from the well bore, the behavior of self hygiene boarder who is still lacking, and love swapping clothes with friends This research aims to find out the hygiene sanitation and health of skin complaints the residents of Padang Bulan Village boarding Selayang Subdistrict Medan Selayang I. This research method is descriptive. The population is 536 people and the sample in this study was 100 people. Sampling was done by purposive sampling criteria respondents boarding house residents who have settled >6 months. The results showed that respondents who experienced the health complaints of skin with a sense of the typical hives (morning, afternoon, or night) that as many as 38 people (38.0%), who experience health complaints of skin with red swollen bumps on the surface of the skin and itch that as many as 33 people (33,0%). The conclusions of this research are the complaints of skin health experienced by the occupants of a home boarding The village of Padang Bulan Selayang Subdistrict Medan Selayang I caused because of personal hygiene factors are unfavourable. Boarding house residents are advised to be more attention to personal hygiene and expected to home owners to pay more attention to kost basic sanitation home kost which includes water supply and means of garbage disposal. Abstract

Rhodamine B and formaldehyde is colouration substance and preservative substance that prohibits to be utilized in food product. But there are still traders using rhodamine B and formaldehyde in food products and beverages. Brown sugar is one of the food ingredients that are often encountered in daily life. The purpose of this research is to determine the rhodamine B dye and preservative formaldehyde in brown sugar in the traditional market sub-district Medan Baru in 2013 and determine the level of knowledge and attitude of brown sugar’s traders. This research is a simple descriptive. The method used is applicable in the examination of laboratory in brown sugar with chromatography paper (rhodamine B) and destilation method (formaldehyde) , interview using a questionnaire to 12 traders in traditional market sub-district Medan Baru. Based on the results of laboratory examination of the rhodamine B dye and preservative formaldehyde in brown sugar is known that all (100%) of brown sugar does not contain dyes rhodamine B and preservative formaldehyde. The results of questionnaire showed that traders with knowledge of enough category as many as 9 (75.0%), traders with knowledge of good category as many as 2 (16.7%) and traders with knowledge of less category as many as 1 (8.3%). Traders with  attitude of enough category as many as 7 (58.3%), traders with  attitude of good category as many as 4 (33.3%) and traders with attitude of less category as many as 1 (8.3%). Traders are advised to pay more attention to the brown sugar to be sold and the buyer to be more careful selection of the brown sugar that is not harmful for consumption. To the government to more tighten supervision and checks periodically on brown sugar so there is no use dye substances nor preservative not allowed as rhodamine B and formaldehyde.

Abstract

Development of maintenance of increasing farm fields can affect the quality of the environment, one of which is the quality of the air can be decreased because of the pollution in the farm by impact. PT. Allegrindo Nusantara is one the largest farm in North Sumatra even in Southeast Asia which is located in the village of Urung Panei sub-district Purba district Simalungun. Hydrogen sulphide is a colorless gas, are very poisonous, combustible and having the characteristics of smell of rotten eggs. This research aims to know the levels of hydrogen sulfide and respiratory health complaints and complaints of irritation of the eye on people living in the area of hog farms PT. Allegrindo Nusantara. The type of research used are descriptive in nature. The population in this research is 90 people with respondents housewife with a sample is the total sampling. The results showed that levels of hydrogen sulfide in the hog farms PT. Allegrindo Nusantara 0,0002-0,016 ppm it not exceed the level indicated in the quality raw KepMenLH No. 50 in 1996. There are 36 people (40,0%) respondents who experienced respiratory tract health complaints during the last 3 months and 27 respondents (30,0%) people who suffered eye irritation complaints during the last 3 months. The conclusion is the importance of maintaining and improving the cleanliness of the farm to prevent the smell that can cause air pollution, monitoring of the air quality on an ongoing basis. In the community, it is important to use a mask and other protective as prevention efforts against respiratory tract health complaints and complaints of eye irritation. Abstract

Seeds areca extract (Areca catechu L.) was result of percolation of Seeds areca. Seeds areca extract (Areca catechu L.) could be used as natural preservative. Areca seed extract contains polyphenols which delay the growth of microbial spoilage. The purpose of this study was to determine the ability of Areca seeds extract (Areca catechu L.) in extending the shelf life of mackerel (Rastrelliger catagurna). This study used quasi experiment with Pre and Post Test Design. The object of this research was mackerel. This experiment was conducted with four treatments: without immersion (control), immersion using areca seed extract with a concentrations of 0,5%, 1%, 1,5%, and 2% in 1 L of water and any treatment carried out four repetations. The average preserving time of mackarel at concentrations 0%, which is 5 hours 45 minutes, a concentrations 0,5% which is 7 hours 45 minutes, the concentrations of 1% 9 hours 15 minutes, the concentrations of 1,5% which is 9 hours 37 minutes, and the concentrations 2% that is 10 hours 37 minutes. The result of this study showed that there were differences in durability mackerel without soaking and after soaking Areca seeds extract. The results showed that the durability of mackerel without soaking and soaking the fish were given seeds areca extract at different concentrations. Mackerel using seeds areca extract 2% produces the most durable fish, but has a bitter taste after being fried. While the mackerel using seeds areca extract 1% had retentiontime not too long, but do not have a bitter taste when fried, and fish without soaking faster slimy and foul smelling Keyword: Areca (Areca catechu L.), mackerel fish (Rastrellinger catagurna), Preservative.
