Abstract

English has long been recognized as a crucial medium of international communication, serving not only educational purposes but also supporting career development. However, many students experience difficulties in understanding English expressions and sentences, a challenge that is particularly evident in listening comprehension among EFL students in Indonesia. Listening is widely regarded as one of the most difficult language skills for learners of English. This study aims to investigate the barriers faced by Indonesian university students in English listening comprehension and to explore the implications of these barriers for listening curriculum development. The data were collected through semi-structured interviews with eight students from Indonesian higher education institutions. The findings reveal that the main obstacles encountered by students include limited understanding of pronunciation and exposure to different accents, insufficient English vocabulary, poor clarity of audio input, and difficulty in comprehending fast speech rates. To enhance listening comprehension, students need continuous and repeated exposure to authentic listening materials, such as audio recordings from native speakers, English podcasts, speeches, motivational videos on YouTube, English songs, and movies. The implications of these findings for the development of an effective listening curriculum are discussed in this paper.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze therapeutic communication practices employed by volunteers in community-based care for people with mental disorders (ODGJ). The focus of the research is directed at the meaning, communication strategies, and challenges faced by volunteers in the mentoring process. This study used a qualitative approach with a narrative study method. Data were obtained through in depth interviews with volunteers directly involved in mentoring people with mental disorders. Data were analyzed by tracing the informants' narrative flow to identify key themes in therapeutic communication practices, which were then interpreted using a therapeutic communication theoretical framework. The results indicate that volunteers' therapeutic communication is adaptive and contextual, not tied to formal clinical procedures. Volunteers interpret therapeutic communication as a process of building a sense of safety and empathetic relationships, especially in crisis situations. These communication practices involve strategic flexibility, the use of nonverbal communication, and the communicator's emotional regulation. These findings confirm that volunteers play a strategic role as therapeutic communication actors in community-based mental health services. This research contributes to the development of therapeutic communication studies by expanding its application beyond formal professional settings.

Abstract

Kawasan Ekonomi Khusus (KEK) Mandalika merupakan salah satu destinasi super prioritas nasional yang mengalami peningkatan signifikan kunjungan wisatawan mancanegara dan domestik. Kondisi ini membuka peluang ekonomi bagi masyarakat lokal, khususnya pedagang informal di sekitar kawasan wisata. Namun, keterbatasan kompetensi bahasa Inggris dalam konteks layanan pariwisata menjadi kendala utama yang menghambat kualitas interaksi dan daya saing pedagang lokal. Kegiatan Pengabdian kepada Masyarakat (PPM) ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kompetensi komunikasi bahasa Inggris kontekstual bagi pedagang sekitar KEK Mandalika melalui pendekatan berbasis masyarakat. Metode pelaksanaan kegiatan menggunakan pendekatan partisipatif dan kontekstual, yang meliputi identifikasi kebutuhan mitra, penyusunan modul bahasa Inggris layanan pariwisata (hospitality communication), pelatihan intensif berbasis praktik (role-play dan simulasi lapangan), pemberian media pembelajaran sederhana, serta pendampingan dan evaluasi pascapelatihan. Evaluasi dilakukan melalui pre-test dan post-test, observasi langsung di lokasi berdagang, serta umpan balik dari peserta. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan adanya peningkatan kemampuan pedagang dalam menggunakan ungkapan bahasa Inggris dasar untuk menyapa wisatawan, menjelaskan produk, menyebutkan harga, dan menjawab pertanyaan sederhana. Selain peningkatan aspek keterampilan, terjadi perubahan sikap berupa meningkatnya kepercayaan diri dan keberanian pedagang dalam berinteraksi dengan wisatawan asing. Kegiatan ini juga berdampak positif terhadap kualitas pelayanan dan persepsi wisatawan terhadap keramahan masyarakat lokal. Secara keseluruhan, program ini membuktikan bahwa pelatihan bahasa Inggris kontekstual berbasis masyarakat efektif sebagai instrumen pemberdayaan ekonomi lokal dan mendukung pengembangan pariwisata yang inklusif dan berkelanjutan di KEK Mandalika

Abstract

The rapid development of digital technology has brought significant changes to the business landscape, transforming how products are marketed, services are delivered, and business relationships are built. In this context, students, as future members of the workforce and potential entrepreneurs, are required to possess strong digital literacy skills in order to effectively face challenges and seize emerging business opportunities. This study aims to analyze the importance of digital literacy in supporting students’ readiness to respond to future business trends. The research employed a descriptive approach using a literature review and observations of the entrepreneurship learning process in vocational schools. The findings indicate that digital literacy plays a crucial role in enhancing students’ creativity, adaptability, and ability to utilize digital platforms for online marketing, branding, and business communication. Furthermore, digital literacy helps students understand market dynamics, analyze consumer behavior, and adopt innovative business models that align with technological developments. Students with adequate digital literacy are better prepared to face rapid changes in the business environment and demonstrate higher confidence in applying technology to entrepreneurial activities. In conclusion, the integration of digital literacy into entrepreneurship education is essential to produce competitive, innovative, and adaptable graduates who are capable of thriving in the digital era and contributing to sustainable economic development.

Abstract

Abstract The inaccuracy of the results of the coding of the diagnosis and medical action produced by the inpatient coder. Percentage of coding accuracy was only 74.67% while coding imprecision reached 25.33%. It is still found that the coding accuracy in providing disease coding is still not accurate. The accuracy in coding the diagnosis is of course caused by several factors according to the conditions of each health service institution. The purpose of this study was to determine the factors that influence the accuracy of coding officers in providing disease codes based on 5M management elements. The method used in this research is literature review by examining journals with criteria, namely research that has been published, at least comes from accredited journals, and journals related to factors that affect the accuracy of the officer coding the diagnosis and then presented in the form of a conclusion. The results of this study were the factors that influenced the accuracy of the coding officer in giving disease codes based on theelement man , namely the qualifications of the coder, based on theelement, it money was not coding on the 4th or 5th characters, based on theelement material, there was a doctor's writing that was not clearly legible and the usage. Unusual abbreviations, based on theelements method are the inaccuracy of selecting the main diagnosis and the absence of SPO for determining the code, based on theelement machine is the absence of supporting coding books and SIMRS is not user friendly. It was found that the use of medical terminology that was not correct made the coders misperceived so that they were wrong in giving the diagnosis code. Keywords: Coding Officer, 5M Management Elements Abstrak Ketidaktepatan hasil koding diagnosis dan tindakan medis yang dihasilkan koder rawat inap. Presentase ketepatan koding hanya 74,67% sedangkan ketidaktepatan koding mencapai 25,33%. Masih ditemukan bahwa ketepatan pengkodean dalam pemberian kode penyakit masih kurang tepat. Ketepatan dalam pengkodean diagnosis tentunya disebabkan oleh beberapa faktor sesuai kondisi masing-masing institusi pelayanan kesehatan. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengetahui faktor yang mempengaruhi ketepatan petugas koding dalam pemberian kode penyakit berdasarkan unsur manajemen 5M. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah literature review dengan mengkaji jurnal dengan kriteria yaitu penelitian yang telah dipublikasikan, minimal berasal dari jurnal terakreditasi, dan jurnal yang berkaitan dengan faktor yang mempengaruhi ketepatan petugas koding diagnosis kemudian disajikan dalam bentuk simpulan. Hasil penelitian ini adalah faktor yang mempengaruhi ketepatan petugas koding dalam pemberian kode penyakit berdasarkan unsur man adalah kualifikasi koder, berdasarkan unsur money adalah tidak melakukan pengkodean pada karakter ke 4 maupun ke 5, berdasarkan unsur material adalah adanya tulisan dokter yang tidak terbaca dengan jelas dan penggunaan singkatan yang tidak lazim, berdasarkan unsur method adalah ketidaktepatan pemilihan diagnosis utama dan belum adanya SPO penentuan kode, berdasarkan unsur machine adalah ketidaktersediaanya buku-buku penunjang koding dan SIMRS tidak user friendly. Ditemukan penggunaan terminologi medis yang tidak tepat membuat koder salah persepsi sehingga salah dalam pemberian kode diagnosis. Kata kunci: Petugas Koding, Unsur Manajemen 5M

Abstract

Community service activities were conducted at the Kerak Telor Juara Yudi (Yudi Egg Cracker) MSME, located at Wibawa Mukti Stadium, Cikarang, Bekasi Regency. This MSME faced several challenges, such as declining customer interest, lack of funding, ineffective digital marketing, poor financial management, and operational difficulties due to weather. These issues resulted in declining sales and hindered business growth. The goal of this activity was to improve the competitiveness and capabilities of the MSME through assistance with digital marketing, product and packaging innovation, and simple financial management training. This activity took place in three stages: preparation, implementation, and evaluation. The results demonstrated an increased understanding of branding, social media promotion, product innovation, and financial management among entrepreneurs. The implementation of the strategies successfully expanded the market and increased revenue, despite funding limitations.

Abstract

The study aims at determining the effect of the implementation of the quantum learning model assisted by Islamic-character learning media on the responsibilities and learning outcomes of the fifth graders at Prampelan Elementary School. This research used is pre-experimental design. The results showed that there was an effect of learning responsibilities on the implementation of the quantum learning model assisted by Islamic character learning media influencing student learning outcomes, 51.8%. Meanwhile, the remaining of learning outcomes, 48.2% of student learning outcomes could be explained by other variables outside this study. Based on the classical completeness test that students in Grade VA at SDN Prampelan with a quantum learning model assisted by Islamic learning media with a value of ≥ 65 has reached 75%.
