Abstract

Management of diabetes mellitus disease, one of which is a physical activity aimed at preventing diabetic wounds, namely by foot exercise activities. Foot exercise is done using marbles to increase foot sensitivity. The purpose of the study was to analyze the measurement of left-right foot sensitivity before and after doing foot exercises using marbles. The type of research used was an experimental one-group pre-post-test design. The population of all Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus sufferers was taken using a purposive sampling technique of 65 participants. The research instrument was Standard Operating Procedures for learning foot gymnastics and observation sheets for assessing foot sensitivity with a monofilament test. Data analysis used the Paired t-test. The results of measuring the sensitivity of the right foot before and after being given foot exercises using marbles were at an average of 5.17 changing to 8.17. While the left foot measurement averaged 5.03 changing to 8.02. The results of the statistical test using the paired t-test obtained a p-value of 0.001

Abstract

Spirituality helps the elderly adapt to changes in themselves. The process of healing chronic diseases in the elderly requires good spirituality. However, in reality, many elderly people still have low spirituality. This study considers the factors of spiritual needs of elderly people with chronic illnesses in Indonesia. Descriptive correlation research design with a cross-sectional approach. The sample was 210 elderly people taken by purposive sampling. The independent variables studied include age, gender, religion, ethnic group, education, work, history of illness, ADL, and cognitive function. The dependent variable is spiritual needs. The research instrument in the form of the Spiritual Needs Questionnaire (SpNQ). A linear regression test to simultaneously correlate several dependent variables with independent variables by following several modeling assumptions. There is a significant relationship between religious factors (0.01), ethnicity (0.003), cognitive function (0.04), and the spiritual needs of elderly people with chronic diseases (<0.05). The equation obtained from modeling can predict the value of the spirituality needs of elderly people with chronic illnesses. Respondents who have sufficient spiritual needs because they are good at connecting with other people, nature/the environment, and God.

Abstract

Diabetes Mellitus is a metabolic disorder characterized by increased blood sugar due to decreased insulin secretion by pancreatic beta cells and impaired insulin function (insulin resistance). By measuring glycohemoglobin (HbA1c) you can find out what percentage of the red blood cell dye (hemoglobin) contains sugar. To analyze HbA1c levels in screening and early diagnosis of diabetes mellitus. Observational descriptive research design. The population in this study were all type 2 DM sufferers at Bangil Pasuruan Regional Hospital, totaling 79 respondents. The sample consisted of 47 respondents taken using a purposive sampling technique. The research instrument was an examination of HbA1c levels and an observation sheet. With controlled HbA1c levels, all of them have a normal BMI, eat a regular diet regularly take insulin medication, and adopt more regular exercise habits. Meanwhile, respondents with uncontrolled HbA1c had a BMI of underweight, normal, overweight, and most did not exercise regularly and did not regularly take antidiabetic drugs.

Abstract

Abstract

People with DM (diabetics) will generally experience obesity as a manifestation of metabolic changes in insulin and leptin hormones. The high variation in body weight and height and the many problems of controlling blood sugar levels in people with diabetes mellitus, researchers want to identify the relationship between Body Mass Index and HbA1c in Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus Patients at Bangil Hospital. This study uses correlation analytics with a cross-sectional approach to determine the relationship between body mass index and HbA1c levels in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus at Bangil Hospital using consecutive non-random sampling techniques totalling 80 respondents. Data collection was carried out by means of laboratory examinations to see HbA1c data and blood glucose levels, while data regarding the patient's Body Mass Index (BMI) was taken by measuring body weight and height. The results of bivariate analysis conducted with the Chi-Square test approach showed that there was a significant relationship between body mass index and HbA1c (p-value = 0.000; α < 0.05). HbA1c is the gold standard for assessing blood glucose homeostasis. HbA1c is a single accurate test to assess long-term glycaemic status and is useful in all types of DM. One of the efforts that can be done to reduce blood glucose levels is by achieving good nutritional status through BMI.
