Abstract

This study intends to investigate how Muslims understand and practice religious tolerance teachings with other religious communities in Madura, Indonesia. The knowledge and forms of tolerance practices in the dynamics of the lives of people of different religions in Pamekasan, Madura, are described in this study using a qualitative-descriptive research approach. This research uses observation, interviews, and documentation to examine empirical data in the field. According to field observations and interviews, the findings of this study led to three significant conclusions. First, Pamekasan people understand that religious tolerance is essential for establishing a peaceful life with other religious communities. In other words, society has practiced the teachings of tolerance according to what is understood in the verses of the Qur’an about the importance of coexistence with different religious communities. Second, the concrete form of the practice of the values ​​of tolerance is embodied in socio-religious life, such as social service activities, ritual traditions, and helping each other celebrate religious days. Third, the factors forming the values ​​of tolerance contained in the verses of the Qur’an are the harmony of the four houses of worship in one complex, local wisdom, and the role of interfaith organizations.

Abstract

The division of inheritance that does not comply with Islamic law can instigate family conflicts. This assumption is contradicted by what occurs in Muslim society in Pakamban Laok Village, Sumenep Regency, Indonesia, where they can control conflicts by dividing the inheritance under customary law. This article examines why Muslim communities do not apply Islamic inheritance law and how their inheritance division practices can mitigate family conflicts. The study employs a case study approach with data collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. The study found that education, religiosity, economics, and social factors contribute to why the Muslim community in Pakamban Laok does not divide the inheritance of heirs under Islamic inheritance law. Testators typically divide their inheritance (gifts or hibah) to prevent family conflicts before passing away. If the inheritance has not been divided, it is distributed by the heirs, with the shares adjusted by agreement. In some cases, the heirs have invited a local religious scholar to divide the inheritance according to Islamic law, and some other heirs have opposed the division’s results. In Islamic jurisprudence, dividing inheritance to prevent family conflicts is called “takharrūj,” selling a share in inheritance. The authors argue that the takharrūj model can be used as a legal solution for inheritance division practices that are customary and familial.

Abstract

Based on the psychographic theory of Glock and Stark, this study tries to provide more information about the terrorist's religiosity in the context of a suicide bombing in East Java, Indonesia. To understand the theological state of terrorists who commit suicide bombings in the name of jihad, this research takes a psychological approach. Through later suicide bombings, which frequently occur, this research uses qualitative techniques to paint a picture of the dimensions of religiosity that terrorists possess. The Surabaya suicide bombings in East Java are used as a case study in this paper. The researcher uses psychographic theories of religion, which encompass ideological, ritualistic, intellectualistic, experiential, and consequential elements, to evaluate the religious dimensions of terrorists. This study demonstrates that a terrorist's religiosity can be characterised as having only conceptual, ceremonial, and intellectualistic aspects; the experiential and consequential aspects are not evident in the terrorist's attitude or personality.

Abstract

Corrupt behavior occurs not only outside educational institutions but also within the pesantren environment, which functions as a setting for acquiring religious knowledge. This study aims to clarify the assimilation of moral ideas among students in fostering an anti-corruption character at the Annuqayah Islamic boarding school. This study utilizes a qualitative field methodology comprising observation, interviews, and documentation techniques. The data analysis method utilizes the Miles and Huberman approach. The findings of this study identify three categories of moral principles that should be strengthened in students' character: understanding of morals, religion, and sharia. The factors affecting the establishment of moral principles in students arise from compliance and resistance to pesantren norms. The methodology utilized to instill anti-corruption ideals at the Annuqayah Islamic boarding school encompasses the dissemination of fundamental information through faith, ethics, and morals, the cultivation of discipline, and the promotion of respect for elders and compassion for the youth.

Abstract

Provinsi NTT didiami oleh sejumlah suku dengan budaya, agama, ras dan golongan yang berbeda. Perbedaan tersebut telah dapat bernilai positif bagi pengembangan masyarakat setempat namun juga mengandung nilai negatif. Kemajemukan tersebut merupakan suatu tantangan yang sangat besar bagi pemerintah dalam mempertahankan kondisi suatu daerah agar tetap aman dan tidak terjadi konflik yang sangat merugikan banyak pihak. Dari kasus-kasus konflik yang terjadi, ternyata agama dan etnis bukanlah penyebab dasar terjadinya konflik antara kelompok. Konflik terjadi disebabkan oleh kurangnya ruang interaksi sosial dan keagamaan yang berbeda etnis/agama, kehadiran warga pendatang yang tidak memahami situasi setempat, dan menurunnya nilai-nilai kebersamaan. Secara umum hubungan antar umat beragama di NTT masih dalam kondisi terkendali dan stabil. Potensi integrasi berupa kekuatan khazanah budaya lokal, kekerabatan, semangat komunalitas, dan adanya tetua adat jauh lebih dominan dari pada potensi konflik.

Abstract

Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh permasalahan pendidikan dasar di Kabupaten Sumenep yang dikelola sesuai dengan standar mutu pendidikan nasional. Penelitian ini mengungkap tiga permasalahan utama, yaitu (1) bagaimana kebijakan pengelolaan lembaga pendidikan dasar di Kabupaten Sumenep (2) bagaimana implementasi standar mutu pengelolaan lembaga pendidikan dasar di Kabupaten Sumenep (3) bagaiman dampak kebijakan pengelolaan lembaga pendidikan dasar di Kabupaten Sumenep. Penelitin ini menggunakan metode kualitif-lapangan pada beberapa 8 lembaga tingkat sekolah dasar di Kabupaten Sumenep, yakni di Kecamatan Pragaan dan Kecamatan Batang-Batang. Untuk mengumpulkan data di lapangan, peneliti menggunakan tiga teknik pengumpulan data, yaitu teknik observasi, wawancara, dan dokumentasi. Hasil Penelitian ini menghasilkan tiga temuan utama. Pertama, bentuk kebijakan pengelolaan lembaga pendidikan dasar di Kabupaten Sumenep, yaitu kebijakan pendirian lembaga baru, penerimaan peserta didik, kesejahteraan guru, dan pemerataan pendidikan tingkat sekolah dasar. Kedua, implementasi standar mutu pengelolaan lembaga pendidikan dasar dilakukan dengan meningkatkan ketersediaan sarana dan prasarana sekolah, meningkatkan keterampilan, bakat, dan minat siswa, peningkatan profesionalisme guru dan tenaga kependidikan, penerapan sekolah berbasis digital dan literasi, peningkatan pengawasan, monitoring dan evaluasi program sekolah, dan peningkatan skill kepemimpinan kepala sekolah. Ketiga, dampak kebijakan pengelolaan lembaga pendidikan dasar di Kabupaten Sumenep adalah moratorium pendirian lembaga baru, pembatasan pembangunan sekolah, re-grouping lembaga, persaingan dan perebutan murid, dan tertibnya sistem penerimaan siswa baru.
