Abstract

One of the environmental problems has become a global issue, namely the excessive use of pesticides and fertilizers. The use of pesticides that are not in the right dose, inappropriate use, inappropriate benefits and not according to the rules of use can be a source of compounds and pollution containing heavy metals which are very difficult to degrade. Cinnamon biopesticide research will be carried out in several locations based on research activities. The collection of cinnamon samples will be carried out in the Research Field of the Faculty of Agriculture and the manufacture of a biopesticide solution will be carried out at the Forestry Laboratory, Faculty of Agriculture, Unkhair. To test the effectiveness of the biopesticide solution, it will be carried out in the Ake Malamo Watershed Management Center and Protected Forest (BPDAS HL) Nursery on mangrove/mangrove seedlings. The application of biopesticides is carried out by spraying all parts of the seeds with the appropriate concentration of treatment. Applications were carried out five times with an interval of once every 1 week. Observations were made every week, one day after the application of spraying. The use of fragrant cinnamon biopesticide which was sprayed on mangrove seedlings 5 times 7 days after planting with a concentration of 75% each time was proven to suppress pests and diseases so as to increase their growth. This result is much better than the control/other treatments.

Abstract

Pengambilan sampel menggunakan metode Systematic Purposive sampling with random start pada lokasi SPTN Wilayah I Resort Tayawi.

Abstract

Abstract

Counseling the community around the forest on using home yards to plant horticultural crops is very important to maintain sustainable forests and reduce forest encroachment and massive logging. In this time of community empowerment, socialization was fulfilled through the counseling of the utilization of yards of households in Domato Village, which is a village near the Bird Bidadari Observation Forest, South Jailolo District, West Halmahera Regency, where part of this forest area will be employed as a Forest Area for Special Purpose in Education (KHDTK) by the Forestry Study Program, Faculty of Agriculture, Khairun University. Based on the results of this activity, the knowledge of the local community still has to be improved regarding the effectiveness of planting in house yards. Therefore, more intensive counseling is required to encourage local households to utilize their home yards to meet their food needs. Abstract

Arboretum is an artificial forest that collects various types of plants for educational purposes and plant preservation. The development of an arboretum requires basic information on environmental conditions and tree species suitable for planting. Therefore, this study was carried out with the aim of selecting tree species for the development of the arboretum at Campus IV, Khairun University. The research was carried out at Campus IV of Khairun University which included a study of land conditions, a literature review of local tree species, and tree species selection. A potential location for an arboretum is the triangular park at the campus entrance. This location was planted with the Angsana species (Pterocarpus indicus) in 2019, which has now grown to the pole and tree stage with an average height of 6 m and an average crown diameter of 4.1 m. The soil has a clay texture with a pH of 5.2 and humidity of 55%. Thus, the location can be planted with intolerant tree species on the edges and tolerant species in the middle which has been shaded by angsana vegetation. The tree species selected for species enrichment in the arboretum are local species in the Wallacea region, namely Canarium indicum, Palaquium spp., Syzygium malaccense, Vitex cofassus and Diospyros celebica; timber wood-producing species, namely Swietenia macrophylla and Ochroma pyramidale; producer of gaharu NTFPs, namely Aquilaria malaccensis; and shade-tree for aesthetics, namely Tabebuia rosea.
