Abstract

Sea water can be an alternative source of nutrition for plants. This research aims to obtain the best application concentration of sea water as a source of micro mineral nutrients for the growth of shallot plants. This research was carried out in Loang Baloq, Mataram, West Nusa Tenggara from June 2023 to August 2023. The experiment used a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) arranged in a factorial manner (2 factors, 4 replications). The first factor tested was the salt sea water concentration (K) which consisted of 4 levels, namely: K0 = no sea water; K1 = ratio of sea water and regular water 25 ml: 75 ml, K2 = ratio of sea water and regular water 50 ml: 50 ml. K3 = ratio of sea water and ordinary water 75 ml: 25 ml. K4 = 100 ml sea water. The second factor is variety (V) which consists of 2 levels, namely: T = Tajuk variety, L = Biru Lancor variety. The results of the research showed that giving sea water to shallot plants had a different effect on vegetative growth for the Biru Lancor variety and the Tajuk variety. The treatment showed that the higher the concentration, the lower the growth. Significant results can be seen in the observed characteristics of plant height at 5, 6, 7 WAP and number of leaves a week at 7 WAP. The use of sea water at a concentration of 50 ml gave an increase in positive results for the Biru Lancor variety for the number of shoots in the 7th week.

Abstract

The use of phosphate-solubilizing microbes derived from symbiotic or rhizosphere bacteria provides a solution to enhance the phosphate content for plants. The Mimosa pudica plant has been recognized for its rich population of beneficial microorganisms on its rhizophere and root nodules. A study was conducted to identify phosphate-solubilizing bacteria from the root nodules of Mimosa pudica, which were isolated from the Penedegandor East Lombok coastal region. The results showed that 4 out of 14 bacterial isolates from the root nodule and rhizosphere of Mimosa pudica (Isolate BA1, BA2, BA4, and T10) exhibited phosphate solubilizing activity. Isolate BA4 exhibited the highest solubilizing activity, as evidenced by a clear zone diameter of 24 mm, which was greater than the other isolates. This was followed by isolate BA2 with a clear zone diameter of 18 mm, isolate T10 with a clear zone diameter of 17 mm, and isolate BA1 with a clear zone diameter of 15 mm. The isolates were identified through colony visualization and morphological analysis as belonging to the genera Bacillus (BA2), Pseudomonas (Ba4), and Micrococcus (T10); however, the identity of the BA1 isolate could not be determined.

Abstract

This community service activity aims to provide assistance in the development of horticultural cultivation in Dusun Mongge 2, Sukadana Village. The activity is a follow-up to the horticulture training conducted in early October 2023 at the Sukadana village office. The assistance is carried out in the form of hands-on gardening practices by local residents, particularly housewives, with the hope of improving household food security and creating home-based business opportunities. Support was provided in the form of horticultural seeds (eggplant, tomato, chili, bitter melon, zucchini, golden mama, etc.), polybags, soil, rice husks, manure, and plant protection nets. The assistance process is conducted periodically and includes technical education on cultivation, management of growing media, and the use of organic waste (livestock manure) as fertilizer. This approach aims to reduce dependence on chemical fertilizers while improving soil fertility and crop quality. Preliminary results show good plant growth and enthusiastic participation from the residents. It is hoped that this activity will not only strengthen household food security but also serve as an alternative source of income, particularly for housewives without permanent employment.

Abstract

This Community Service Program (PKM) aims to empower the residents of Dusun Prabe, Batu Mekar Village, West Lombok Regency, through the utilization of kolang-kaling (sugar palm fruit) as an innovative raw material for the development of healthy, locally-based functional beverages. Traditionally processed with limited added value, kolang-kaling holds great potential to be transformed into economically valuable products. The program was implemented in stages using participatory and educational approaches, including preparation (local potential survey), functional food concept dissemination, technical training, and business mentoring. The outcome of this initiative is the creation of Yogurt Wedang Kolang-Kaling, a functional drink that combines the probiotic benefits of yogurt with the nutrition and distinctive taste of kolang-kaling and traditional spices. This product not only carries economic value but also promotes the preservation of local wisdom. Practical training significantly enhanced community skills and awareness of entrepreneurship opportunities based on local resources. The participants’ enthusiasm and their initiative to continue production independently reflect the program’s success in fostering economic self-reliance. This innovation is expected to serve as a foundation for the development of sustainable and competitive home-scale enterprises. Thus, this activity demonstrates that local food-based innovations can serve as strategic solutions to holistically improve community welfare
