Abstract

Our study examines the relationship between Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) practice and asymmetry information in the Indonesian Stock Exchange. We conjecture that these two concepts are negatively associated. To empirically test their association, we use the availability of CSR report, environmental score, and social score as the surrogate indicators of CSR practice. While, bid/ask spread (BAS) and price volatility (PV) are employed as the proxies of Asymmetry information. Using the quarterly data spans from the second quarter of 2012 to the fourth quarter of 2016, we collect as many as 39 companies that voluntarily disclosed their CSR-related information. To investigate the importance of CSR practice in the truncation of asymmetry information, we use the univariate analysis and multivariate analysis. We find that CSR practice is negatively associated with the asymmetry information. Our results remain consistently after we control for the firm-specific, year, and industry fixed-effect.

Abstract

This study aims to identify the PESTEL and Porter’s 5-Forces analysis while identifying the turnaround process of TV provider subscription after a decline in firm performance. The case of this study is MSKY Vision Enterprise, which employs a qualitative descriptive approach using the conceptual framework of PESTEL analysis, Porter’s Five forces, and turnaround strategy developed by Hoffman in 1989 in analyzing the condition of a decline in firm performance and an appropriate turnaround strategy. The study is initiated by firstly investigating financial distress using a Multiple Discriminant Analysis (MDA) developed by Altman and Hotchkiss (2006). Furthermore, an analysis of the company’s external and internal factors is conducted to determine the causes of performance decline, threats, and opportunities in the pay television industry in Indonesia. Next, a turnover strategy proposition analysis is proposed to identify the strategic and operational actions taken to overcome the decline in performance.

Abstract

Investment has long been common among Indonesians, with gold traditionally favored. Recently, younger generations have begun diversifying into capital market instruments such as stocks, mutual funds, and Indonesian government bonds (ORI). While these options offer higher return potential, they also carry greater risk. Retail investors often face obstacles such as limited capital, time constraints, and lack of accessible information, which can hinder optimal investment decisions. This study compares the returns of stocks, mutual funds, and ORI from February 22, 2021, to February 15, 2024. A modified present value formula is used to evaluate each investment, incorporating all cash flows coupon payments, cash dividends, and stock dividends throughout the investment period. This approach addresses a common gap in investment prospectuses, where present value considerations are frequently omitted by investment managers, leading to less accurate return assessments. Findings show that, on average, stocks deliver the highest returns, followed by ORI, with mutual funds yielding the lowest. These results provide practical insights for retail investors aiming to make more informed decisions based on return potential adjusted for the timing of payments.

Abstract

This Community Service Program conducted in Talang Babatan Village, Kepahiang District, Bengkulu, aims to empower the local community through the enhancement of human resources in coffee production. The project focuses on developing Talang Babatan as a competitive and sustainable coffee-producing village. Despite its potential, the community faces challenges including limited knowledge of modern coffee processing, weak production management, and inadequate access to broader markets. Activities conducted include field visits, community discussions, problem identification, and training sessions focused on improving the knowledge and skills of coffee farmers in post-harvest processing, diversification, and product branding. Preliminary outcomes indicate improved awareness and readiness among local farmers and women’s groups to adopt innovative methods in coffee processing and marketing. Through these initiatives, the program contributes to enhancing the village’s economic resilience and positioning local coffee on the global stage.

Abstract

Abstract

The aim of this research is to examine the impact of stakeholder reactions observed on social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and Youtube) on financial performance. What distinguishes this study from previous research is the utilization of different variables and measurement methods. Previous researchers conducted their investigations on individual social media platforms, such as Facebook or Twitter. Meanwhile, in this study, we consider the stakeholder reactions extracted from Twitter, Instagram, Youtube platforms as well as employing control variables such as Size and Age. The hypotheses of this study are grounded in stakeholder theory and legitimacy theory. Purposive sampling was employed to collect data from companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange from 2019 to 2022. Multiple linear regression was utilized as the analytical method, and the data were of a secondary nature, gathered through documentation methods. The research findings indicate that stakeholder reactions observed on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram do not have a significant impact on financial performance, while when observed on Youtube, they exhibit a partial influence with a positive simultaneous effect. Abstract

The purpose of this study is to examine the relationship between non-financial information and firm profitability. The data and samples were extracted from publicly listed companies (PLCs) operating in the U.S. hypercompetitive industry. The U.S. (NYSE) setting of the study was chosen due to the efficiency of its capital market. The efficiency of the NYSE can be identified from the rapid adjustment of stock price movement as a consequence of incoming new information. By employing panel data regression analysis of 83 companies spanning from 2011 to 2016 (498 firm-year observations), this study tests the relevance of firms’ non-financial on firm profitability. The findings suggest that non-financial information has shown a positive and relevant association with firm profitability. Thus, the presence of CSR reports (CSR_Rep), and high CSR performance scores (CSR_Perf) as the proxies of non-financial information is positively associated with firms’ profitability (ROA and ROE). In this regard, the company might explore the benefit of gaining a positive reputation and better business legitimacy from society as well as their stakeholders.
