Abstract

This research employs a descriptive qualitative method to analyze the government's role in promoting gender perspective in development within Sidoarjo Regency, Indonesia. Utilizing purposive sampling, the study draws upon role theory by Soerjono Soekanto, focusing on active, participatory, and passive roles. Findings reveal that the Sidoarjo Regency Government effectively advocates and socializes gender mainstreaming, demonstrating an active role. The government engages in education and motivation, encouraging broad societal participation, exemplifying a participatory role. However, a passive role is observed in limited active involvement in socialization activities. This research underscores the importance of government initiatives in fostering gender equality, offering insights applicable to global development discourse Highlight : Government Advocacy and Socialization: The study reveals the Sidoarjo Regency Government's effective advocacy and socialization efforts in promoting gender mainstreaming, reflecting an active role. Abstract

Abstract

This study explored prospective teachers’ experiences using reflective practice tools: video and photovoice. Five prospective students comprising two males and three females aged between 21-24 voluntarily participated in the present study. All participating students were required to submit eight reflective journals mediated by video of their teaching and eight photovoice-based reflective journals during microteaching. At the end, multiple informal interviews were held to investigate participating students’ experiences of their reflection through video and photovoice. The findings of the study showed that the prospective teachers generally perceived photovoice-based reflection more fruitful than video stimulated reflection. Timing, specificity, and simplicity were the major reasons of preference.

Abstract

The Smart Indonesia Card (KIP) program is a public policy designed to expand access to education for children from underprivileged families and realize equal distribution of learning opportunities throughout Indonesia. This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of the implementation of the KIP policy in reducing the dropout rate and review the supporting and inhibiting factors in its implementation. The method used is a literature study with a descriptive qualitative approach, referring to Mustari's public policy theory in Suaib et al. (2022) which highlights four main elements: Input, goals, instruments, and impact. The data was obtained through a review of scientific journals, official government reports, and national news related to the implementation of KIP. The results of the analysis show that the KIP policy plays an important role in reducing the dropout rate and increasing educational participation, especially in urban areas. However, the effectiveness of the program still faces obstacles in the form of inaccurate recipient data, delays in disbursement of funds, and limited educational infrastructure in the 3T area. The positive impact can be seen from the increasing public awareness of the importance of education and the opening of opportunities for equal access to learning. In conclusion, KIP is a socially effective policy but is not fully optimal in terms of administration and technology. Strengthening the integrated data system, increasing digital literacy, and adjusting the nominal amount of assistance are strategic steps to increase sustainability and equitable distribution of program benefits.
