Abstract

Riparians vegetation can improve water quality, feeding grounds, spawning grounds, nursery grounds, and shelter grounds for fish. The aim of this research is to determine the types of riparian plants, types of fish and water quality in Klampok Swamp, Senggreng Village, Malang Regency, East Java. This research was conducted using the survey method to determine the types of riparian plants, types of fish, and water quality in Klampok Swamp, Senggreng Village, Malang Regency, East Java. The data is taken from 4 stations determined by the riparian cover. The station I with 100% riparian cover, station II (70%), station III (40%), and station IV (5%). The fish obtained from the research results in Klampok Swamp are betta fish (Osphronemidae), blue panchax (Aplocheilidae), snakehead (Channidae), marble goby (Eleotridae), guppy (Poeciliidae) or million fish, tilapia and the red devil (Cichlidae), goby fish and transparent goby fish (Gobiidae). Found 14 families of riparian, with the most species being Asteraceae (7 species of cosmos). The families in all stations are Poaceae or grains and Amaranthaceae (spinach). Water quality indicates waters that are good for fish and other organisms.

Abstract

Pasuruan Regency in East Java Province boasts a natural lake, Ranu Grati, formed by volcanic activity, covering about 50 hectares and home to endemic species like the Lempuk fish (Gobiopterus sp.). These fish play a crucial role in Ranu Grati's trophic structure, serving as primary consumers and key planktonic organisms supporting higher trophic levels. The Lempuk fish population faces sustainability challenges due to high demand for this traditional food, leading to overexploitation and decreased reproductive capabilities. Understanding the reproductive biology, particularly gonad maturity levels, is vital for effective resource management. This study, conducted from June to August 2023, aimed to investigate the reproductive biology and gonad maturity levels of Lempuk fish in Ranu Grati. Analysis revealed a male-biased sex ratio, with significant fluctuations in gonad maturity levels across months. In June, the sex ratio was 1.05, in July 1.17, and in August 1.39, indicating a higher population of males. Histological observations showed asynchronous egg development, likely influenced by environmental factors and the fish's reproductive strategy

Abstract

Abstract

High demand on   as consume fish nor as decorative fish, causes an increasing production. But, an obstacle occurs on production, due to reproductive characteristic of Common Carp fish. Different time on sperm and eggs production from male and female fish cause difficulties in breeding. Hence, it needed sperm preservation so the breeding could be done in whole year. Natural extenders are the solution to preserve fish sperm without side effect. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of different types of extenders and different doses on the percentage of sperm motility and viability of carp (Cyprinus carpio) after storage This research was conducted at the Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences, Universitas Brawijaya and the Freshwater Cultivation Installation (IBAT Punten), Batu, East Java. The method in this study was Complete Random Design (CRD) with 6 treatments, K (100ml lactate ringer); A (1ml cider + 99ml lactate ringer); B (1ml coconut + 99ml lactate ringer); C (1ml date juice + 99ml lactate ringer); D (1ml honey + 99ml lactate ringer); E (1ml sugar cane + 99ml lactate ringer). The results showed that the highest motility was obtained in the treatment of using date extract extender with a motility percentage rate of 77.66%; highest viability was obtained in the honey extract with 80.71%; and the highest fertility rate was obtained in the honey extract treatment with 72.67 %.

Abstract

The Porong River is one of the rivers that faces high anthropogenic impacts, such as surfactant waste from detergents. The hematology of Javanese carp (Barbonymus gonionotus) serves as a sentinel organism that can be used as a biomarker for the waters of the Porong River. The aim of this study is to analyze the water quality status of the Porong River polluted with surfactants using the STORET method, as well as its impact on the hematology of Javanese carp using regression and correlation analysis. The research employed a descriptive survey method. The results of the study indicated that the Porong River was categorized as moderately polluted. The average highest surfactant concentration reached 7.2 mg/L, leading to an increase in TSS to 107.95 mg/L and a decrease in DO to 1.80 mg/L. Surfactants exhibited a negative correlation with erythrocytes (91.2%), hematocrit (47.7%), and hemoglobin (60.6%), indicating that the higher the surfactant concentration, the lower the number of erythrocytes, hematocrit levels, and hemoglobin levels in Javanese carp. Conversely, there was a positive correlation between surfactants and leukocytes (56.7%) and blood glucose (66.7%), suggesting that the higher the surfactant concentration, the higher the number of leukocytes and blood glucose levels in Javanese carp.
