Abstract

Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengidentifikasi Karakteristik morfologi dan determinasi seks nuri talaud jantan dan betina dari Nuri Talaud (eos histrio talautensis) di penangkaran. Penelitian dilakukan pada bulan September 2016 hingga Maret 2017 di Badan Konservasi Alam di Manado, Sulawesi Utara. Objek yang diamati adalah sepasang burung Nuri Talaud yang telah mencapai tubuh dewasa (2,5 - 3 tahun). Jantan dan betina ditimbang setelah pengamatan bentuk tubuh, kepala dan ekor yang dipuasakan terlebih dahulu. Metode yang digunakan untuk karakteristik morfologi Nuri Talaud melihat bentuk secara visual bentuk kepala bulat, tubuh langsing dan memanjang serta bulu ekor runcing untuk jantan dan bentuk tubuh kepala tidak bulat, badan tidak langsing dan lebar dan ekor yang tidak runcing untuk betina. Karakteristik morfologi Nuri Talaud yang ditemukan dalam pemiliharaan ex situ ada empat bentuk yaitu: bentuk tubuh, bobot badan, bentuk kepala, bentuk ekor. Terdapat perbedaan bentuk antara burung Nuri Talaud jantan dan betina. Analisis morfometri terdapat delapan ukuran yaitu : panjang kepala, lebar kepala, panjang dada, lebar dada, panjang paruh atas, lebar paruh atas, tinggi paruh atas dan panjang ekor. Hasil analisis ke delapan ukuran antara jantan dan betina Nuri Talaud. Aktivitas harian yang ditemukan jantan dan betina Nuri Talaud yaitu: lokomotif, ingesti, istirahat dan perawatan tubuh dimana jantan lebih aktif dari pada betina. Kata kunci: Nuri talaud, karakteristik morfologi, penangkaran

Abstract

Small livestock complement other parts of the agricultural system in West timor of East nusa tenggara (ntt), since  crop residues, weeds and household wastes areavailable feed resources with low cost. the main roles are as farmers’ income and consumption, provide liquidity, have high value for ceremonies and cultural functions and are a store of wealth and family security. Pigs, goats and native chickens are comparatively important, with relatively large population. there is little published information on the farming systems in which they are kept, on their role, productivity, limitations or potential. Farming systems research (FSr) has been recognized by many government and international development agenciesas an appropriate approach in agricultural research and development, and the concept has been accepted by some organizations in Eastern Indonesia. However, there are few research programs in which an FSr procedure was followed, and evaluated for their effectiveness, especially in the context of livestock research and development. Evaluation of small  livestock farming system research in West Timor, indicates that limitation in times and sufficient data at early stage , as well as broad information of target areas and farmers active involvement, became the main constraints in selecting appropriate location and sites for study purposes. the results of the general evaluation of one year research project suggested that FSr approach was appropriate, even for such a very small scale program. the level of progress achieved was largely dependent on the degree of institutional support provided by regional institutions. there was also need for having better understanding of FSr philosophy and methods for those involved in livestock research and development. Sucess of FSr depends largely on the degree and level of participation of farmers, research workers, and relevant specialists, including comittment of research workers, with close involvement with farmers, their families and problems.Key words: FSr, system approach, evaluation, small livestock

Abstract

Dairy farm has strategic roles in meet the demand of foods. The development of dairy cattle encourages creation of sustainable. In North Sumatera, Karo Regency is known as one of regions with most dairy farms, but now the farms is in stagnancy status. The stagnancy was affected by genetic and environment factors, so this research is aimed to evaluating technical aspect of dairy farms based on Good Dairy Farming Practice (GFDP). The method that used in this research was survey, respondent was collected by census with respondents as total sampling. Data was analyzed with chi-square test. Result of this research showed that highest GDFP point was management aspect, with 3.05 points (good) when lowest GDFP point was dairy cattle health aspect, with 1.52 points (less good). Key word: GDFP , Karo Regency , Dairy Cattle

Abstract

Urban Agriculture can be described as the growing processing and distribution of food and nonfood plant and tree crops and the raising of livestock, directly for the urban market, both within and on the fringe of urban area. The main aim of this research was to analyze the advisability and the potential beef cattle development in South Tangerang. Datas were obtained from the interview with stakeholders and observation to the livestock locations. Secondary data were obtained from related institutions and litarature.The Analtical Hierarchy Process (AHP) andStrength Weanesses Opportunityand Treaths (SWOT) was used to arrange the strategy of beef cattle development in South Tangerang.The Strengths-Threats strategy were used to optimize the market potentials, humans resources and local goverment suport, reduce the negative effect of environment and limited land resources. The results showed that the application of waste management and biogas technology, enhancement the capacity of farmer cooperatives and the support of goverment in landuse was the important aspect of sustainable to increase farmers income and food security.

Abstract

The utilization of tidal land as agricultural land has been carried out in line with the reduction of agricultural land in Indonesia. Research was conducted at Simpang Village, Tanjung Jabung Timur, Jambi province as one of the areas in Indonesia where tidal land is used for agricultural purpose. In the research site found that, in general, farming and animal husbandry are done in a separated system. The agricultural integrated system would provide more optimal results called Integrated biosystem. The Biosystem includes animal husbandry, biogas utilization and vegetable cultivation. The aim of this study is to develop and apply the applicable integrated biosystem to improve production, efficiency and farmer’s revenue. The results showed that by applying integrated biosystems, farmers will gain more benefits in the form of biogas utilization for daily cooking, and  the utilization of sludge as the byproduct of biogas for organic fertilizer  which is meet  the SNI criteria (19- 7030-2007). The utilization of sludge on vegetable crops statistically significant (P <0.05) to enhance the growth of stems, leaves and fresh weight Ipomea reptana Poir compared with inorganic fertilizers (Phonska) and control. Furthermore, The analysis of economic efficiency for a one-year calculation shows that integrated biosystem provides net profit as much as Rp. 22,578,700(NPV=61,801,516; B/C Ratio=2,77; Payback period=1,69), while the otherwise only produce as much as Rp 15,000,600(NPV=45,521,689; B/C Ratio=2,89; Payback period=1,62).

Abstract

Istana Susu Cibugary Agro Tourism is a dairy farm in DKI Jakarta’s dairy site and known well as one of dairy farm development programs.Hence, a study on sustainability level of this dairy farm is required. The first objective of this study was to analyze the index and sustainability status based on five sustainable dimensions. The analysis used Multi Dimensional Scaling (MDS) Method, called RapDairy and the results were stated in the index and sustainability status. The second objective was to analyze the attributes that affect sensitively on index and sustainability status and the effect of error using Laverage and Monte Carlo Analysis. The results of the study revealed that ecological dimension was in the status of less sustainable (46.01%), economical dimension was sufficient  sustainable (67.19%), socio culture dimension was sufficient sustainable (60%), dimension of institutional was less sustainable (43.48%) and dimension of technology was less sustainable (46.46%).  Out of the 52 attributes analyzed and there were 15 attributes need to be handled immediately as they affect sensitively on the increase of index and sustainability status with a negligible error in the level of 95% confidence limit.

Abstract

 The aim of this study was to evaluate productivity of beef cattle through the utilization soybean by-product.Twelve Madura cattle with and average initial liveweight of 175.64 ± 16.41 kg and aged between I1-I2 (18-30 months) were used in this study fattened for three monthsgiven differentfeeds level, ie. P0 (100% native grass), P1(40% roughage + 60% concentrate), P2(15% of soybean pod+ 85% concentrate), and P3(30% soybean pod + 70% concentrate). Observed parameters included production of soybean waste per hektar, carry capacity of cattle based of soybean waste, income over feed cost (IOFC), andRC ratio.The results showed that the production of soybean pods and tofu waste was 1.75 ton/ha, and 0.44 ton/ha. This results indicated that carry capasity of soybean wastes for cattle production was of8,95 ST/ha/year, and 1,91 ST/ha/year respentively. Economy analisis based on income over feed cost and R/C ratio results showed that use of soybean waste was to replaces forage quite potensial for farmer, especially in the region to here soybean production is high.

Abstract

The Grade Goats of Etawah and local goats which commonly called,”Etawah Grade Goats” is well adapted to the enviromental of Indonesia. These animals are also well maintained and kept by farmers as the main producers of meat and milk. The aim of this research was to study the reproductive characteristics and population dynamics of Etawah grade goats in Sumedang of West Java. This research was conducted from July to August of 2011 in Cimalaka and Paseh subdistricts of Sumedang. Thirty six (36) farmers were purposively chosen as respondents for this study. Primary data were obtained from the farmers by interview using questionnaires. Secondary data were collected from Sumedang livestock office and statisticaly reported from farmers group. Data were analyzed descriptively to obtain reproductive characteristics of Etawah gradegoats. Based on the reproductive characteristics obtained, an estimation was made on the population dynamics of dairy goats in Cimalaka and Paseh subdistricts. The average age of ewes at first estrus was 10.06±1.65 m and 12.89±3.86 m in Cimalaka and Paseh respectively. The first conception of ewes occurred at 10.56±1.55 m and 13.26±3.93 m, and kidding interval was 7.75±0.58 m and 7.17±1.11 m whereas, the mortality rate of young goats was 8% and 24% in Cimalaka and Paseh respectively which was varied between region. The results of estimation made from population dynamics of dairy goats in the Cimalaka subdistricts indicated that the increase rate of goats after six years was 11.43%,The increasing of goat numbers obtained six years, to be 308 heads. Therefore, the number of ewes should be kept in the flock was 79 heads in orderto maintain population.The results of estimation made from population dynamics of dairy goats in the Paseh subdistricts indicated that the decrease on rate of goats after six years was 23.37%, that resulted in the decreasing of goat numbers obtain six years to be 41 heads. Therefore the number of ewes should be kept in the flock was 8 heads in order to maintain population.
