Abstract

This research aimed to formulate development strategies for white rat and mice enterprise. The data were obtained using questionnaire and interview thenthe strategies were analyzed using internal factor evaluation (IFE), external factor evaluation(EFE), internal-external matrix(IE), SWOT, and QSPM analysis. IFE analysis showed that the company was in fairly good condition (IFE score: 2.5602) including the managementusing standard operational procedure (SOP) that comprise breeding system, cage hygiene, waste management and marketing. EFE matrix analysis showed that the company could use the opportunity (“high demand” and “cooperation with research institutions and reptiles breeders”) eventhough there was a threat (“high production cost due to increased fuel costs”) (EFEScore: 3.0353). IE matrix showed that the rat and mice farm of Aneka Ternak laboratory was in “growth and build” position and the right strategy is intensive or integration strategy. Alternative strategies were formulated using SWOT matrix and its priority was set by QSPM analysis. QSPM analysis showed that the prioritystrategyneeded was to establish more partnerships with research institutions and reptiles breeders to improve marketing channels (TAS Score: 18.5633).

Abstract

Mealworm is the larva stage of Tenebrio molitor L. beetle which is used for pet feed. The aim of this research was to analyze the effect of feeding medias to support the growth of mealworm. The compared feeding media were 100% dry tofu by product as a control, 100% rice bran, 100% rice husk, 50% dry tofu by product + 50% rice bran, 50% dry tofu by product + 50% rice husk and 50% rice husk + 50% rice bran. Randomized Complete Design was used as the experimental design with 6 treatments with 3 replications for each treatment. The result showed that body weight and body length were not significantly different (P>0.05) among media, but mortality and pupation were significantly different (P<0.05). The feeding media with 50% dry tofu by product + 50% rice bran are better to use because it can increase feed consumption, percentage of pupation, and reduce mortality.

Abstract

The Environment is one of the factors influencing the development and productivity of the bee colony. Favourable environment will significantly support bee productivity. The factors which influence the bees activity include temperature, humidity, light intensity, wind speed, rainfall, and food availability. The aims of this study are to know the influence of environmental factors on activity and propolis production of stingless bees. This study used six colonies of Tetragonula laeviceps into two different locations, monoculture and polyculture nutmeg farm. The method used is a direct observation of the activities and propolis production of stingless bee and analyzed by t-test. The study results of T. laeviceps in monoculture and polyculture farms showed that the activity of the bees was influenced by environmental factors influencing propolis production. The activities would start when the temperatures ranged from 22-23 oC, humidity 70-88%, and light intensity 183-4344 lux. The peak activity of the bees occurred at the temperatures of 26-28 oC, humidity 55-71%, and light intensity 46.875-91.347 lux. The propolis produced by T. laeviceps was 27.79 g in the monoculture farm and 48.80 g in the polyculture farm. The significant difference was predominantly due to the environmental factors.

Abstract

Camara Nusantara ship was provided for livestock transportation especially cattle, to help increasingefficiency and decrease weight losses in the supply chain process. There were, however, such poor cattleperformance was still found on the arrival port, which was claimed as related to the poor managementand less competence of working personnel on board, one of those was kleder. This study was aimed atanalyzing the strategy for increasing Human Resource competency in the Camara Nusantara LivestockShip. Method used in this study was observations on target location, documentation, literature review, and depth interviews with target respondents in the respective locations, qualitative analysis approachwas applied for data analysis. Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) with five levels were used to analyzedata obtained from the study. The results indicate that the main strategies for increasing the competencyof human resource in the Camara Nusantara Livestock Ship was started with development of competencystandardization with a weight of 0.361. Development of competency standards for kleder is required toprovide a guidelines for improving kleder’s skills and knowledge in managing and handling livestockat Camara Nusantara Livestock Ship. It can be concluded that to optimize kleder competency who areworking at Camara Nusantara Cattle Ship may help to maintain cattle performance during the sea tolltransportation. Therefore, developing a national job competency standard, so called SKKNI (StandarKompetensi Kerja Nasional Indonesia) is needed as guidance to formulate relevant training programsfor human resource development.
