Abstract

This research is aimed at identifying the grammatical errors focused on English Prepositions produced by Senior High School’s Students in Garut. The objectives of this research are to investigate the types of grammatical errors focused on English prepositions by Senior High School Students and to find the most frequent type of these errors. The method of this research is the descriptive qualitative method. The researcher gave the test consists of 20 sentences that were incomplete in narrative composition. The students were asked to complete the sentence with the correct preposition chosen in multiple-choice. The finding shows that the twelfth-grade students as the participant contributed three types of errors on the use of prepositions to complete the sentences. Those errors are 30,93% in the error of omission, 26,25% in the error of insertion, and 42,81% in the error of selection. Thus, the most frequent type of errors produced by students of twelfth grade is the error of selection that reaches 42,81%. It indicates that students faced difficulties in using prepositions appropriately.

Abstract

This research focusses on analyzing lexical and contextual meaning in Elevation worship’s song lyrics. By listening to the songs, we can get knowledge about appreciation literature and the background of the song. Therefore, the researchers were interested in analyzing the kinds of meaning used in Elevation Worship songs. The researchers dedicated to give the title of this research “An Analysis of Lexical and Contextual Meaning Elevation Worship’s Song Lyrics”. The problem of this research are: (1) what are the lexical and contextual meaning in the Elevation Worship’s Lyrics? (2) What percentage of the lexical words that contain the contextual meaning in the “Elevation Worship’s” song? The researchers took five songs from different album. This research uses a descriptive method by analyzing the research object of Elevation Worship Song Lyrics. To obtain the data, the researchers collected the data from Elevation Worship’s Song Lyrics and from internet. After that, the songs which contain lexical and contextual meanings were selected. The result of this research are as follows: (1) related to the lexical meaning, while (2) related to the contextual meaning. The researchers found 25 lexical words or 29.64% of five data that contain the contextual meanings. Thus, the researchers expect this research will be useful for the other researchers who are eager to obtain more knowledge about semantic field. Moreover, semantic is an important branch of linguistic that is interesting to be studied, especially when it is applied to literary works, such as songs or poem etc.

Abstract

Wernicke's aphasia is a speech disorder with speech that is quite fluent but has a meaning that does not make sense. Many utterances are just the contents of the sufferer's thoughts. This analysis focuses on the characteristics of sentence production and speech disorders in individuals with Wernicke's aphasia. Individuals with Wernicke's aphasia suffer from a language disorder that affects their ability to communicate effectively. Their speech is typically fluent but nonsensical, and they may struggle to find the right words or understand what is being said to them. They may also make errors in their speech and be unaware of these mistakes, which can make communication even more challenging. Additionally, their sentence structure, grammar, and syntax can be compromised, leading to structurally deficient sentences. Limited use of functional words, the presence of neologisms, and perseveration contribute to the incoherence of their speech. Understanding these characteristics is crucial for developing targeted interventions to enhance communication for individuals with Wernicke's aphasia. The results of this research found that there are 7 types of sentence patterns, 5 types of sentences based on their function and structure, and 4 characteristics of speech disorders that appear in the utterances expressed by Byron.

Abstract

This research focusses on analyzing semantic meaning in The Touring Instructions Of Automotive Club “Mercedes Benz W211”. The semantic meaning includes lexical and contextual meaning. By listening to the touring instruction, we can get knowledge about appreciation literature and the background of the touring instruction. Therefore, the researchers were interested in analyzing the kinds of lexical meaning and contextual meaning used in touring instruction. The researchers dedicated to give the title of this research “An Analysis Of Semantic Meaning In The Touring Instructions Of Automotive Club “Mercedes Benz W211””. The problem of this research are: (1) what are the lexical meaning in the touring instruction of Automative club Mercedes Benz W211? (2) what are the contextual meaning in the touring instruction of Automative club Mercedes Benz W211? The researchers found 16 data from touring instruction that have both meaning, lexical and contextual meaning. This research uses a descriptive method by analyzing the research object of Elevation Worship Song Lyrics. To obtain the data, the researchers collected the data from the touring instruction that are said by using Handy Talky (HT) . The result of this research are as follows: the lexical and the contextual meanings are used in the touring instruction of MBW211 Club. There are 16 data showing that their instruction has several words containing contextual meaning. For people in first time joining the touring activity, they may be confused and afraid of the meaning and message from the commander. Because contextual meaning is similar to ‘something means something else’. This is the concept of literature, art of language

Abstract

in recent years, there has been a significant decline in the use of the Javanese language, particularly among younger generations living in urban areas. This phenomenon is influenced by various factors, such as the dominance of the Indonesian language in the education system and media, the impact of social environments, and the decreasing role of families in transmitting local languages. This study aims to examine the language shift from Javanese to Indonesian and its impact on the linguistic identity of young people. A descriptive qualitative approach was employed, involving ten participants aged 20–25 years residing in Central Java and the Special Region of Yogyakarta. Data were collected through in-depth interviews and documentation, then analyzed thematically to identify patterns of language use and shifts in linguistic identity. The findings indicate that most participants prefer using Indonesian because it is perceived as more practical, modern, and suitable for cross-cultural communication. Javanese is still used, but it is limited to specific contexts, such as interactions with parents or traditional events. Nevertheless, participants continue to show emotional attachment to their Javanese identity. Their linguistic identity is flexible and constantly negotiated depending on the social context. This study concludes that language shift is a complex phenomenon that involves not only linguistic aspects but also reflects changing values, attitudes, and identities within society.

Abstract

Penelitian ini mengkaji tantangan-tantangan yang mempertahankan "ruh puisi" dalam penerjemahan lintas budaya puisi Dulce et Decorum Est karya Wilfred Owen, dengan fokus pada bahasa figuratif sebagai penyampai kritik anti-perang. Melalui pendekatan kualitatif deskriptif, hermeneutik dan stilistika, penelitian ini menganalisis penerjemahan metafora, simile, personifikasi, dan ironi puisi perang Owen ke bahasa Indonesia. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa meskipun kesetiaan struktural tercapai, kesenjangan budaya dan nuansa linguistik menyulitkan pelestarian kedalaman emosional dan pesan ideologis. Penelitian ini membuktikan bahwa terjemahan efektif memerlukan strategi hibrid—menyeimbangkan foreignisasi (untuk konteks sejarah) dan domestikasi (untuk keterbacaan). Tantangan utama mencakup penyampaian ironi Latin "Dulce et decorum est pro patria mori" dan citra perang visceral "bersepatu darah" bagi pembaca Indonesia. Sehingga dapat ditarik kesimpulan bahwa penerjemahan puisi adalah tindakan interpretatif yang memadukan presisi linguistik dan empati budaya, dengan implikasi bagi penerjemahan sastra traumatis lintas batas.

Abstract

Kegiatan ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan keterampilan membaca puisi siswa kelas VIII MTs Asy-Syifa Kabupaten Bandung Barat melalui kegiatan pelatihan yang terstruktur. Pelatihan dilaksanakan dalam tiga tahapan, yaitu pemberian materi, praktik, dan penilaian. Materi yang diberikan mencakup enam aspek penting dalam membaca puisi, yakni apresiasi, pemenggalan, pelafalan, intonasi, ekspresi, dan gerak. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa secara teoretis siswa telah mampu memahami konsep membaca puisi. Dari hasil penilaian, aspek pelafalan dan pemenggalan memperoleh nilai tertinggi, sementara aspek intonasi dan ekspresi masih menjadi kelemahan utama siswa. Secara umum, seluruh siswa memperoleh nilai di atas Kriteria Ketuntasan Minimal (KKM) 75. Dengan demikian, pelatihan membaca puisi yang dilaksanakan dinilai efektif dalam meningkatkan kemampuan siswa, meskipun perlu adanya tindak lanjut berupa latihan intensif pada aspek intonasi dan ekspresi agar keterampilan membaca puisi siswa lebih optimal.

Abstract

This study explores translation strategies of linguistic elements in the Audio Description (AD) of the Indonesian horror film Pengabdi Setan (2017), focusing on how translators mediate audio-visual information for visually impaired audiences. Employing a qualitative, descriptive-analytical approach within an embedded single-case study design, the research analyzes film scenes containing significant linguistic cues alongside their official AD scripts. The study identifies five main translation techniques based on Molina and Albir (2002): substitution, reduction, description, amplification, and modulation, which are often combined to achieve coherent, emotionally resonant narration. Substitution transforms sounds into textual equivalents, amplification expands implicit meanings, reduction condenses non-essential information, and modulation shifts perspectives to maintain narrative tension. Data analysis demonstrates that these strategies effectively convey horror elements, suspense, and character emotions while respecting the original sound design. Findings highlight the translator’s role as an active mediator, balancing accessibility with aesthetic and psychological effects. The study contributes to understanding the complexity of AD in horror films and underscores its interpretative, creative, and strategic dimensions in enhancing audience experience.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis penggunaan alih kode dan campur kode serta pentingnya mengkaji praktik berbahasa oleh tokoh Elio dalam karya sastra berupa novel berjudul 2,578.0 km karya Ayu Nugraheni. Analisis jenis alih kode pada penelitian ini mengacu pada klasifikasi Poplack (1980), sedangkan campur kode mengacu pada teori Muysken (2000). Selain itu, fungsi alih kode dijelaskan berdasarkan kategori yang dikemukakan oleh Gumperz (1982) dan fungsi campur kode oleh Suwito (1983). Penelitian ini menerapkan pendekatan sosiolinguistik melalui metode kualitatif deskriptif dengan menggunakan teknik simak-catat, serta melakukan analisis pada data berupa dialog tokoh Elio yang berisi alih kode dan campur kode. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan terdapat total 44 tuturan yang memuat praktik alih kode dan campur kode dengan jenis alih kode tag switching dan campur kode leksikalisasi kongruen (congruent lexicalization) tidak muncul dalam data. 21 tuturan dari total data merupakan alih kode dan 23 lainnya adalah campur kode dengan data dominan berdasarkan jenis alih kode adalah intra-sentential switching sebanyak 14 tuturan dengan persentase 32%. Penyisipan (insertion) menjadi jenis campur kode yang paling banyak muncul yaitu 18 tuturan dengan persentase 41%. Message qualification dan fungsi untuk menunjukkan keakraban(intimacy) menjadi fungsi sosial alih kode dan campur kode yang mendominasi temuan sebanyak 12 tuturan dan 7 tuturan. Cerminan identitas sosial tokoh Elio yang ditunjukkan melalui praktik peralihan kode dan pencampuran kode dalam tuturannya dilatarbelakangi oleh berbagai aspek yang berkaitan dengan lingkungan komunikasi, serta latar sosial dan budaya tokoh Elio.

Abstract

Kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat ini bertujuan mengatasi rendahnya kemampuan fonologi (pengucapan) siswa SMA Binar Ilmu , yang disebabkan oleh fokus pembelajaran yang masih menitikberatkan pada tata bahasa dan kosa kata, serta minimnya pemanfaatan media interaktif. Sebagai solusi, program ini menggunakan Media Audio Interaktif yang dirancang khusus untuk penguatan fonologi, dengan konten yang berfokus pada latihan minimal pairs dan word stress. Metodologi pelaksanaan menggunakan pendekatan partisipatif yang diawali dengan analisis kebutuhan fonologi siswa, diikuti implementasi program yang menempatkan siswa sebagai subjek aktif. Siswa didorong melakukan praktik pengucapan mandiri, self-correction, dan membandingkan pelafalan menggunakan fitur rekam suara pada media. Hasil evaluasi akhir (post-test) menunjukkan bahwa media audio interaktif sangat efektif dan mampu meningkatkan kemampuan fonologi serta akurasi pengucapan siswa SMA Binar Ilmu secara signifikan. Keberhasilan ini membuktikan bahwa media interaktif yang menyediakan latihan berulang dan umpan balik akustik sangat direkomendasikan sebagai solusi pedagogis yang tepat guna untuk mengatasi permasalahan pengucapan di tingkat SMA.
