Abstract

The condition of the ship is very influential in one of the transportation. The results of field study observations on the ship MT. Dewayani, the authors found a cargo that could not be sucked in by the cargo oil pump (COP). This is due to a damaged valve seat ring. This study aims to determine the impact of the seat ring valve on the COP system, determine the factors causing the seat ring valve damage, and determine the role of the crew in maintaining the seat ring valve. The research method used is descriptive qualitative. Observations, interviews, literature studies, and documentation studies were conducted to collect data. The results of the study concluded that a damaged ring valve caused air to enter the COP system which had no bad impact. The cause of the seat ring valve damage is the lack of maintenance and the lack of professionalism of the crew, overrunning hours, and spare parts not according to the manual book. The role of the crew is to carry out maintenance according to PMS, operate according to the manual book, be calm and focused when there are problems, and cooperate between crew members.

Abstract

Sea transportation is seen as the most effective means of responding to the high demand for a commodity. The development of industry 4.0 and society 5.0 has a big influence on the economic growth of a country. Loading and unloading must go well, so efforts are needed to ensure its implementation. Delay in unloading due to hydraulic leakage. The captain and guard officer as more experienced parties are expected to make efforts to prevent it. Coordinating work when unloading shows that the ship has followed procedures and efforts to repair hydraulic leaks. The method used by researchers to analyze problems is the fishbone analysis method. Research data obtained from primary data and secondary data, while data collection was obtained from observations, interviews, descriptive and literature. Fishbone analysis aims as an effort made to change the data from the results of a study into simpler information, so that it is easy to use to draw conclusions. Based on the results of this study, hydraulic maintenance was further improved and procurement of spare parts continued to be pursued by the ship. In addition, the company's management also affects the performance of the crew on the ship so that there is a need for improvement in the company's management of the ship.

Abstract

The LPG Carrier is one of the ships that carries liquid gas cargoes below -48o C. The LPG Carrier has facilities in the form of a reliquefaction plant that uses seawater as a coolant for gas cargo. Therefore, the reliquefaction plant has an important role in the smooth loading and unloading process. If one of the reliquefaction plant particles is damaged, of course the cooling process of the polymer grade propylene gas load will be hampered. The purpose of this study is to describe the problem in the cooling process of polymer grade propylene load. The authors conducted research using a qualitative descriptive method through an interview approach, direct observation of the object of research, and supported by paper-based documents or photos. Based on the results of the study, it was found that the causes of delays in the cooling process of polymer grade propylene gas cargo, namely the influence of weather, sea water content, clogged sea water filters, clogged condenser tubes, and condenser shell tube leaks.

Abstract

Paradigma masyarakat tentang pekerjaan berorientasi fisik yang hanya di peruntukkan bagi kaum pria, mengarahkan pada munculnya persepsi bahwa pelaut merupakan pekerjaan yang lazimnya di bibidangi oleh gender pria. Hal tersebut sangat bertentangan dengan  International Convention on Standarts of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping for Seafarers 1978 as amanded in 2010 (STCW Convention) resulsi 14. Hal tersebut memicu rasa keingin tahuan peneliti untuk melakukan ekplorasi mendalam terkait perbedaan kemampuan beradaptasi pelaut dalam kehidupan di atas kapal berdasarkan sudut pandang perbedaan gender. Metode penelitian yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metodologi penelitian kualitatif berjenis diskriptif naratif, dengan teknik wawancara semi terstruktur. Adapun partisipan yang terlibat dalam kegiatan penelitian adalah pelaut pria dan wanita berkebangsaan Indonesia yang bekerja di perusahaan dalam dan luar negeri. Hasi penelitian menunjukkan jika meskipun pelaut pria dan wanita memiliki jenis tantangan dan kesulitan yang berbeda dalam menjalani kehidupan di atas kapal, akan tetapi masing-masing gender telah memiliki solusi untuk menghadapi dan memecahkan berbagai tantangan dan hambatan tersebut, berdasarkan karakter  masing-masing gender.Kata kunci :  Adaptasi, Kapal, Gender, Pelaut

Abstract

In establishing the satisfaction of university students, the institutions should improve the service qualitygiven to their students. The better of the service quality, the higher of the satisfaction towards the company. Theheight of the service quality is always in relation to the internal support of the institution, especially the supportof the human resource. From the satisfaction index done by Politeknik Ilmu Pelayaran Semarang, it is knownthat the point of satisfaction index of the students who are the academic service users of Politeknik IlmuPelayaran Semarang is far below from the target. This shows the low of service quality given in the institution.It is in line with the dimension of university students’ service which tends to decrease in 2011.The objective of the research is to analyze the influence of interaction between departments and theacademic information system to the service quality and to analyze the influence of interaction between departments,academic information system and service quality to the satisfaction of PIP Semarang students. Theresearch uses 120 respondents as the samples. The data is analyzed using SEM.Based on the data analysis, it is concluded that interaction between departments and academic informationsystem give positive influence to the service quality. The interaction between departments, academic informationsystem and service quality also give positive influence to the satisfaction of PIP Semarang students. Thestructured opportunities to the units in the institutions such as academic, finance, teaching and service to interacteffectively is created through the strategic planning about the service given to the students. Furthermore, thethings that can hinder the effective interaction between departments such as conflict between departments canbe avoided by arranging the organisation system of PIP Semarang in detail.Key words: Interaction between departments, Academic information System, Service Quality, Students Satisfaction

Abstract

Mesin pendingin ialah rangkaian permesinan bantu untuk menghasilkan suhu dingin. Refrigerator mempunyai 4 komponen utama yaitu Compresor, Condensor, Expansi Valve, dan Evaporator. Refrigerator memiliki peranan yang penting yaitu untuk mengawetkan bahan makanan agar makanan dapat bertahan lebih lama. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini ialah deskriptif kualitatif dengan teknik analisa data FISHBONE untuk menganalisa masalah dan menentukan strategi. Rumusan masalah dari penelitian adalah faktor penyebab kerja evaporator refrigerator menurun, dampak akibat kerja evaporator refrigerator menurun, upaya yang dilakukan untuk mengatasi kerja evaporator refrigerator menurun. Dari hasil penelitian disimpulkan bahwa penyebab kerja evaporator refrigerator menurun adalah Oil Separator tidak bekerja dengan baik, gangguan pada dryer, penumpukan bunga es pada evaporator, pintu ruangan sering terbuka, dan sistem perawatan dan perbaikan tidak tepat waktu. Dampak yang ditimbulkan yaitu terjadinya minyak lumas masuk dalam sistem, lolosnya kotoran dan air kedalam sistem, menghambat proses penyerapan panas dan penguapan gas freon, banyak udara panas dari luar yang masuk dan timbul masalah baru pada mesin. Upaya yang dilakukan dengan menggunakan FISHBONE yaitu melakukan pembersihan pipa laluan di oil separator, mengganti filter dryer yang baru, melakukan defrosting, meminimalisirkan keluar masuk diruang pendingin dan pembuatan PMS sesuai jadwal dan waktunya sehingga evaporator dapat kembali bekerja dengan optimal dan dapat mencapai suhu yang diinginkan.

Abstract

Gaya kepemimpinan sangat berperan dalam menentukan kinerja pegawai karena pimpinan dapat di jadikan teladan dan penentu bagi para bawahannya.   Fenomena yang lain yaitu pemberian motivasi dengan tepat, dimana hal tersebut akan dapat menimbulkan semangat, gairah dan keikhlasan kerja dalam diri seseorang. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui dan menganalisis: 1) pengaruh gaya kepemimpinan wanita terhadap kinerja, dan 42 pengaruh motivasi kerja terhadap kinerja. Jenis penelitian ini adalah kuantitatif asosiatif kausal dengan pendekatan survei. Penelitian ini dilakukan pada crew kapal yang dimana terdapat pemimpin/officer wanita yang terdiri dari deck departemen dan engine departemen dengan jumlah populasi sebanyak 60 orang. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan 1) gaya kepemimpinan wanita berpengaruh secara signifikan terhadap kinerja, dan 2) motivasi kerja berpengaruh secara signifikan terhadap kinerja.

Abstract

A website-based application system that is one of the Internet media that is often used to do various things by providing services ease, speed especially in the recording process. The Polytechnic of Navigation Sciences (PIP) Semarang, previously still used manual methods in the process of guiding the Final Tasks (scripts) of its tarun. Given the current advances in information technology, the manual can be improved to anticipate problems in the guidance process, for example, the missing or missing guidance records can be minimized by using an application system. For this, it is necessary to build an e-logbook application system that can input data from a manual system to a website-based application system aimed at managing data and storing data as well as building a system which can facilitate the performance of the lecturer and the study program performance at the Polytechnic of Shipping Science (PIP) Semarang. The objective of this research is to develop a website based application system such as e-logbook to make the process of recording the final guidance activities of the cadets easier. This research uses the type of qualitative data with data collection in the form of interviews with tutoring lecturers and cadets in PIP Semarang, observation and literature studies. The utilities used in the development of this system are PHP and MySQL. The research resulted in an e-logbook system that is easily accessible to various stakeholders in the Semarang Polytechnic of Shipping Sciences (PIP) environment that includes structured recording, storage, and reporting.

Abstract

The high volume of global ship traffic, including in Indonesia, poses significant risks to the marine environment due to pollution from oil spills, liquid waste, and plastic waste. This study aims to analyze Indonesia's maritime legal policies in preventing marine pollution, with a focus on the challenges in enforcing international conventions. This study uses a doctrinal approach method. Indonesia's maritime legal policy in preventing marine pollution due to ship traffic has developed, driven by international regulations such as the MARPOL Convention and UNCLOS. National law about Environmental Protection and Management, play an important role in regulating and enforcing pollution prevention policies. However, the implementation of the law still faces various challenges, such as weak law enforcement, less than optimal coordination between institutions, and limited technology and supporting facilities. Efforts to strengthen law enforcement and the application of international standards are needed to protect the marine environment from pollution due to ship activities.

Abstract

Konflik perdagangan global, khususnya antara Amerika Serikat dan Tiongkok, telah menyebabkan perubahan signifikan dalam dinamika perdagangan internasional dan memberikan dampak langsung terhadap sistem transportasi laut dan logistik global. Sejak tahun 2018, penerapan tarif dan kebijakan proteksionis oleh kedua negara telah memicu perubahan pola perdagangan, menciptakan ketidakpastian pasar, serta mendorong relokasi aktivitas produksi ke negara-negara alternatif seperti Vietnam dan India. Transportasi laut—yang mengangkut sekitar 80% dari total volume perdagangan dunia—menghadapi tantangan besar berupa perubahan rute pelayaran, fluktuasi volume pengiriman, serta peningkatan biaya logistik. Beberapa pelabuhan utama di Tiongkok mencatat penurunan aktivitas bongkar muat, sementara pelabuhan di Asia Tenggara dan kawasan lainnya mengalami lonjakan trafik sebagai dampak dari perubahan alur distribusi global. Ketidakpastian dalam rantai pasok juga menuntut perusahaan logistik untuk meningkatkan fleksibilitas dan ketahanan operasional. Di sisi lain, perubahan rute pelayaran secara tidak langsung berkontribusi terhadap peningkatan emisi karbon, sehingga menimbulkan tantangan baru dalam konteks keberlanjutan lingkungan. Studi-studi terkini yang dimuat dalam jurnal seperti Maritime Policy & Management serta Transportation Research Part E menunjukkan berbagai strategi adaptif yang diterapkan oleh pelabuhan dan perusahaan pelayaran dalam merespons kondisi ini. Analisis ini menegaskan pentingnya perumusan kebijakan global yang terkoordinasi untuk memitigasi dampak negatif terhadap transportasi laut serta mendukung keberlanjutan jangka panjang industri maritim di tengah dinamika geopolitik yang terus berkembang.   The global trade conflict, particularly between the United States and China, has significantly altered the dynamics of international commerce and has had a direct impact on maritime transportation and global logistics systems. Since 2018, the imposition of tariffs and protectionist policies by both countries has triggered shifts in trade patterns, created market uncertainty, and driven the relocation of production activities to alternative countries such as Vietnam and India. Maritime transport—which handles approximately 80% of global trade volume—faces major challenges, including changes in shipping routes, fluctuations in cargo volume, and rising logistics costs. Several major ports in China have reported declines in cargo handling activity, while ports in Southeast Asia and other regions have experienced increased traffic due to the reconfiguration of global supply chains. Supply chain uncertainty has also required logistics companies to enhance their operational flexibility and resilience. Furthermore, rerouting of vessels has indirectly contributed to an increase in carbon emissions, posing new environmental sustainability challenges. Recent studies published in journals such as Maritime Policy & Management and Transportation Research Part E highlight various adaptive strategies adopted by ports and shipping companies in response to these conditions. This analysis underscores the importance of coordinated global policy responses to mitigate the negative impacts on maritime transportation and to support the long-term sustainability of the maritime industry amid ongoing geopolitical shifts.
