Abstract

Pada industri kimia, desalinasi dan minyak banyak sekali terjadi pembentukan kerak kalsium karbonat di dalam pipa yang berakibat pada penyempitan diameter dalam pipa dan pengurangan kinerja perpindahan panas. Makalah ini memaparkan proses kristalisasi CaCO3 di dalam pipa dengan aliran laminer. Percobaan ini dilakukan dengan mencampurkan dua larutan ekuimolar CaCl2 dan Na2CO3 dengan konsentrasi Ca2+ 3.000 ppm. Parameter yang diteliti adalah laju alir larutan 50 ml/menit), suhu (27 oC, 35 oC, 50 oC) dan penambahan aditif asam tartarat (0,00; 1,00; 10,00 ppm) sebagai penghambat proses pengerakan. Proses pembentukan kerak CaCO3 dipantau dengan mengukur perubahan konduktivitas larutan yang bertujuan untuk mengetahui waktu induksi sebagai pertanda awal terbentuknya kerak CaCO3. Waktu induksi yang diperoleh adalah bervariasi dari 20 menit hingga 38 menit. Laju aliran dengan suhu yang tinggi menghasilkan banyak endapan kerak CaCO3. Parameter suhu dapat meningkatkan kristalisasi CaCO3. Kerak yang diperoleh dari percobaan dikeringkan dan ditimbang untuk diperoleh massa kerak kemudian dikarakterisasi. SEM/EDS untuk mengetahui morfologi dan unsur kimianya. XRD untuk mengetahui fasa kristal yang terbentuk beserta prosentasenya. Semakin tinggi konsentrasi asam tartarat pada larutan menyebabkan massa kerak yang terbentuk semakin sedikit menurun hingga 80%. Ini berarti asam tartarat bisa menjadi aditif yang efektif untuk mengahambat kristalisasi CaCO3. Analisis SEM/EDS menunjukkan bahwa morfologi kerak ada yang berbentuk kubus (calcit), bola (vaterite dan jarum (aragonite). Analisis XRD menunjukkan fasa kerak adalah vaterite, aragonite dan calcite. Kerak mineral aragonit terbentuk karena pengaruh asam tartarat dan suhu. Hal Ini menunjukkan asam tartarat dapat menunda transformasi kerak kalsium karbonat menjadi fase stabil calsit. Abstract

Ejector is a static pump which is worked by a vacuum principal. A vacuum which is happened in the ejector affect the performance and the ability of suction on the secondary mass flow section. A vacuum ejector in the fresh water generator affects the amount of fresh water which is generated. The objective of this research is to know the affection of variation in the outlet diameter of the nozzle towards secondary mass flow, especially on the air suction section (vacuum). In this research, an analysis has been done in a fresh water generator (FWG) with three alternative design of the outlet diameter of the nozzle using Computer Fluid Dynamics (CFD) method to get the optimal performance. The inlet pressure of primary flow is regulated to be steady at 3 bars. The variations of the diameter outlet of the nozzle are 4, 6, and 8 mm. The distance between the edge of the nozzle with outlet flow of the pipe is made at a settled position. The edge of the nozzle is at 3 mm inside the outlet flow of the pipe measured from the inside edge of the pipe. The result of CFD method is shown that on the variation of the outlet diameter of the nozzle 8 mm has the biggest mass flow (4.6838048 kg/s) between 4 and 6 mm. The implication of this research is that the outlet diameter of the nozzle 8 mm has the maximum value of a vacuum.

Abstract

The use of a pressure tank with a hydrophore tank that serves to temporarily store water, with the principle of providing air pressure on the upper surface of the water in the tank. Working pressure on hydrophore operation is a very important parameter for maximum operation. Problems that often occur in hydrophore tanks are usually from the supply pump, water level in the tank, air pressure, and pressure sensors. Problems caused by pumps include pump leaks, the presence of air in the water flow. As a result, the freshwater pump for supply to the hydrophore tank is often On-Off with a very fast time duration. This research was conducted to find the right setting to maintain stable operating pressure on the hydrophore tank. The research was conducted directly on board the MV. NORDTIGER with a case study of direct problems that occur in the freshwater distribution system on board. The variables at the time of data collection were the working pressure of the hydrophore tank pressure and the water level in the tank. The operating load used in data collection is the condition of ordinary load and full load. The results of the study on the performance of the hydrohore tank by varying the water-air level, working pressure range and final loading. The shortest duration of filling time is at 50%:50% volume level composition at a pressure of 5-7 bar, while the longest filling time is at 70%:30% water-air volume level at a pressure of 3-7 bar.

Abstract

Vocational campuses are campuses where most of the learning is carried out through practice with the aim that students have more skills and competencies when working in industry. However, in the COVID-19 pandemic situation, all learning must be carried out online, both theoretical and practical courses. The purpose of this study was to determine the level of feasibility and success of the online learning of applied physics practicum courses at the Politeknik Maritim Negeri Indonesia through analysis of student perceptions with the provision that the perception index is positive if it has a percentage of >40%. The method used in this research is descriptive quantitative. The object of this research is students who take practical applied physics courses from the Nautika study program. The number of students who filled out the questionnaire was determined by using a purposive random sampling technique. The data was obtained through a googleform questionnaire and shared via whatsapp messages. The results of the study showed that the student perception index got a positive value with a feasibility percentage of 87% for the component of teaching and learning activities, 98% for the component of lecturer competence and 88% for the component of facilities and infrastructure.

Abstract

The condition of the ship is very influential in one of the transportation. The results of field study observations on the ship MT. Dewayani, the authors found a cargo that could not be sucked in by the cargo oil pump (COP). This is due to a damaged valve seat ring. This study aims to determine the impact of the seat ring valve on the COP system, determine the factors causing the seat ring valve damage, and determine the role of the crew in maintaining the seat ring valve. The research method used is descriptive qualitative. Observations, interviews, literature studies, and documentation studies were conducted to collect data. The results of the study concluded that a damaged ring valve caused air to enter the COP system which had no bad impact. The cause of the seat ring valve damage is the lack of maintenance and the lack of professionalism of the crew, overrunning hours, and spare parts not according to the manual book. The role of the crew is to carry out maintenance according to PMS, operate according to the manual book, be calm and focused when there are problems, and cooperate between crew members.

Abstract

Liquid cargo carried by tankers carries a very high risk of fire, with an explosion. The environment greatly affects the success in minimizing the risk of fire on tankers. The risk of fire hazard can occur at any time, during tank washing, loading, in shipping, and in the discharging process. Combustible material, oxygen and heat in sufficient composition will trigger a fire. Inert gas which has Oxygen (O2) < 8% can be used as a fire prevention solution from cargo spaces. Many fires that occur on tankers occur during cargo operations, loading, discharging and tank cleaning. This research was conducted directly on board the ship through a case study. The study was conducted aboard MT. Gamsunoro operated by PT. Pertamina International Shipping. The number of Inert Gas fans used and the volume of the tank are fixed variables in the operation of the IGS. The parameters measured were the oxygen content of the inert gas in the main line and cargo tank. The working pressure in the cargo hold is also measured to ensure the pressure is higher than atmospheric. The results of the study found that the O2 content of the main channel decreased from 20.9% to 3.3 in 80 minutes. The average O2 content in the tank is 5.34% can be achieved with an average inerting time of 3.3 hours/tank using 1 inert gas fan. The average pressure in the tank is 782.85 mm Hg. These conditions indicate the optimal operation of the inert gas system, so that the disassembly process meets the requirements for fire prevention safety from tanker cargo spaces.

Abstract

This research discusses the failure of the diesel engine crankshaft of four stroke 6 cylinder, which is used in diesel generators of marine vessels. A correct analysis of crankshaft conditions is essential to prevent crankshaft fracture failures and cracks. Crankshaft deformed due to misalignment of the main journaling bearings. The purpose of this research is to determine the safe limit of the feasibility of a crankshaft to the damage that occurs on the surface of the crank pin journaling and steps to prevent the occurrence of failure on the crankshaft. This article presents the results of crankshaft failure analysis by material testing method through metallurgical test and hardness test. The test material taken was part of the crank pin journaling on cylinder number 3 which experienced by worn-out abnormality, while the test material from the crank pin section of the journal of cylinder number 5 was as a comparison with the normal surface condition. The result of chemical composition test of crankshaft is included in AISI 4140 classification. While the hardness value on crank pin surface of journal of cylinder number 3 is below the predetermined hardness value. Micro structure on cylinder no. 3 has an irregular spherical grain shape and the phase is pearlit (ferrit and cementit) in which the pearlit has a soft and also a hard nature.

Abstract

Tiram hidup dengan cara menempel, salah satu tempat yang disukai untuk hidup adalah di lambung kapal. Tiram yang menempel di lambung kapal diindikasikan  mempengaruhi pengoperasian kapal dan berat benaman kapal. Penempelan tiram di lambung kapal membuat permukaan lambung kapal menjadi tidak halus dan tidak rata dan selanjutnya dapat menyebabkan gesekan yang lebih besar, sehingga akan berpengaruh langsung terhadap kecepatan. Dengan jumlah populasi tiram yang banyak pada lambung kapal kemungkinan akan menambah berat benaman kapal. Penelitian tentang Pengaruh Tiram Pada Lambung Kapal Terhadap Benaman Kapal Sebelum Dan Sesudah Dok merupakan penelitian studi kasus di Pelabuhan Tanjung Emas ). Studi kasus dilakukan terhadap kapal yang sedang melakukan dry dock dan melakukan pembersihan lambung kapal. Teknik pengumpulan datanya dengan observasi lapangan, wawancara dan diskusi dengan pihak-pihak terkait yang meliputi awak kapal yang berhubungan langsung dengan pengoperasian kapal serta pekerja dock yang menangangi tiram yang menempel dilambung kapal saat dry dock. Temuan yang diperoleh adalah bahwa akibat-akibat yang ditimbulkan dari penempelan tiram di lambung kapal tersebut secara umum mempengaruhi pengoperasian kapal. Permukaan lambung yang banyak ditempeli tiram berpengaruh terhadap kecepatan dan kestabilan kapal saat berlayar. Untuk pengaruhnya terhadap berat benaman tidak begitu signifikan jika dibandingkan dengan berat kapal yang mencapai ribuan ton.

Abstract

Pendidikan merupakan fondasi dari kemajuan suatu bangsa. Generasi penerus yang kompeten dan berkarakter merupakan aset berharga. Berbagai upaya dan pengembangan dalam sistem pendidikan perlu terus ditingkatkan. Berdasarkan Peraturan Menteri Pendayagunaan Aparatur Negara Reformasi Birokrasi (Permenpan-RB) Nomor 16 Tahun 2009 mengharuskan guru membuat karya ilmiah dan berinovasi dan melakukan pengembangan diri. Penguasaan teknologi informasi, kemauan dan kemampuan menulis guru yang masih rendah merupakan beberapa faktor penghambat dalam kegiatan pengembangan profesi guru khususnya dalam ruang lingkup kegiatan karya tulis atau karya ilmiah di bidang pendidikan. Kegiatan pengabdian ini dilakukan dalam rangka untuk meningkatkan keterampilan guru sebagai wahana pengembangan profesi melalui pelatihan karya tulis ilmiah, pengenalan software Parapfrasing tools, Mendeley, dan Plagiarism Checker serta cara submit jurnal ke publisher. Berdasarkan hasil pelatihan kegiatan pengabdian yang melibatkan guru-guru di SMAN 1 Limbangan kabupaten Kendal, menunjukkan bahwa kegiatan pengabdian ini sangat bermanfaat dan sangat dibutuhkan oleh para peserta dalam pengembangan profesi guru.

Abstract

Masyarakat yang maju dan kreatif adalah masyarakat yang selalu meningkatkan kemampuannya baik dari komponen softskill dan hardskill. Program pendampingan melalui Pengabdian kepada Masyarakat (PkM) dapat menjadi solusi mendorong peningkatan kesejahteraan dan perekonomian masyarakat. Kegiatan PkM ini memiliki implikasi dan manfaat yang dapat dirasakan langsung oleh komunitas pengguna dalam masyarakat. Organisasi pendidikan tinggi dapat memenuhi kewajibannya untuk memberikan layanan masyarakat ini. Pada kegiatan PkM ini adalah pelatihan teknis pengelasan untuk warga di lingkungan Kelurahan Beji Kecamatan Ungaran Timur Kabupaten Semarang Jawa Tengah. Permasalahan yang dihadapi oleh mitra adalah kurangnya pengetahuan dan keterampilan dalam pengelasan. Pelaksanaan Tridharma Perguruan Tinggi salah satunya adalah kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat dari Polimarin dengan memberikan dukungan para dosen dan mahasiswa berbagi wawasan, pengetahuan dan ketrampilan. Pengetahuan teoritis diberikan melalui pemaparan materi dilanjutkan dengan pratek pengelasan, ini dijadikan pilihan dalam pelaksanaan pelatihan. Penilaian pengetahuan dengan metode Pre-Test dan Post-Test secara keseluruhan dari semua indikator yang diukur terdapat peningkatan signifikan sebesar 134,05 %. Pada awal pelaksanaan praktek, semua peserta kesulitan untuk menyalakan busur las kemudian dilakukan latihan berulang-ulang. Akhirnya semua peserta mampu membuat alur pengelasan dengan baik pada posisi pengelasan horizontal.
