Abstract

This study aims to examine the effect of using interactive compensatory model (ICM)-based integrated thematic learning tools to improve students' reading comprehension of information text comprehension for fifth grade elementary school. This research was conducted in three stages. The first phase of the preliminary study included a literature study, field surveys and expert-validated initial product preparation. The second stage of development included limited trials and extensive trials through experimental methods. The third stage was product testing and socialization of the results to try out its efficacy. Data were obtained through observation, interviews, questionnaires and test (pre-test and post-test). This study used a sample of 504 grade fifth students in 12 elementary schools in Bandung Regency. The results of this study indicate that the use of ICM-based integrated thematic learning tools has a significant effect on students' improvement for reading comprehension on information text for fifth grade elementary school. This is evidenced by the difference in students' reading comprehension ability before and after learning using ICM-based integrated thematic learning tools. This research has implications for the ease with which teachers can achieve learning objectives with the support of teaching materials, media, worksheets and interesting and practical activities that can stimulate students to improve their reading comprehension skills.

Abstract

Background of the study: Awareness of the importance of psychological well-being and personal growth progressively leads to the use of bibliotherapy in education, libraries, and psychology in all age groups. However, the lack of understanding of how to select and determine the right reading materials for each different age group in the context of bibliotherapy remains a challenge that needs to be addressed. Purpose: This study aims to explore the method of analyzing the content of certain books or literature in personal growth and motivation through didactic bibliotherapy. Methods:  A systematic literature review (SLR) of various studies was conducted using the PRISMA framework. The review includes the selection and evaluation of bibliotherapy reading materials based on their didactic values and techniques, including character reflection, moral conflict resolution, and narrative structure. Findings: This review clarifies that didactic content analysis is essential for improving the educational and therapeutic impact of bibliotherapy. It identifies key didactic principles such as relevance to personal experiences, emotional engagement through relatable characters, and reflective narrative techniques. Conclusion: When combined with strong didactic principles, structured reflective approaches, and problem-solving techniques, bibliotherapy can make a significant contribution to psychological therapy and educational contexts by promoting self-reflection, problem-solving skills, and emotional management.

Abstract

Background: As the world pays increasing attention to innovations in the tourism sector, this study will examine how local communities respond to such innovations, particularly in Oman, which is diversifying its economy through tourism. This study highlights several factors influencing stakeholders’ acceptance of innovative tourism, including local communities, businesses, and tourism students. Purpose: This study aimed to identify the determinants of whether tourism enterprises adopt innovative practices and effective communication strategies to diffuse information and create awareness regarding creative tourism. Methods: The current study employed a quantitative methodological approach based on data gathered from 533 respondents representing a cross-section of tourism industry stakeholders. Results: The findings illustrate significant considerations regarding the acceptability of Oman’s new tourism development, with a great emphasis on communication strategies. Equally, the research outlines real implications for countries interested in developing innovative tourism by highlighting a pronounced active community approach. This study was conducted in specific geographic regions, which limits the generalizability of the findings. Therefore, future studies can be performed with a broader selection of locations and stakeholder perspectives to increase the validation of the Diffusion of Innovation model for tourism contexts. Conclusion: This study emphasizes the need for community participation in tourism innovation processes. A sense of ownership creates more enthusiasm and cohesion among local stakeholders and encourages them to accept new tourism practices socially. Implications: This research strengthens community dialogue regarding tourism. This study adds to the literature on the diffusion of innovation in the tourism industry by providing empirical evidence on the adoption of innovative tourism practices.

Abstract

The development of digital technology has transformed how young people, particularly college students, communicate and develop their identities on social media. Personal branding has become crucial in this era, yet many individuals lack the digital literacy skills necessary to manage it effectively. Low digital literacy can lead to the spread of inaccurate information and inauthentic imagery, which can have negative impacts on digital privacy and reputation. This study aims to understand how high-achieving college students construct their personal brands on social media and the role digital literacy plays in this process. This study employed a descriptive qualitative approach, collecting data through in-depth interviews with six high-achieving college students. The analysis used Miles and Huberman's interactive model. The results revealed that the participants utilized Instagram and LinkedIn in complementary ways: Instagram was used to reach a broader audience through visual narratives, and LinkedIn was used to showcase academic achievements and build professional networks. Interacting with their audience is a crucial strategy for strengthening the credibility of their personal brand, which opens up opportunities for collaboration and professional relationships. Furthermore, digital literacy encompasses not only technical skills but also ethical awareness, critical thinking, and responsibility in managing digital information. In conclusion, high-achieving students' personal branding is formed through the synergy of social media utilization and digital literacy competencies. Together, these serve as a crucial foundation for building academic and professional reputations in the digital age.
