Abstract

Rumusan masalah dalam penelitian ini adalah faktor apa yang mempengaruhi rendahnya hasil belajar siswa dalam belajar Bahasa Inggris di SMP Negeri 8 Sampolawa. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui faktor apa yang mempengaruhi rendahnya hasil belajar siswa dalam belajar Bahasa Inggris di SMP Negeri 8 Sampolawa. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode deskriptif kualitatif subyek penelitian ini terdiri dari 22 siswa pada kelas VIII. Intrumen yang di gunakan pada penelitian ini adalah panduan wawancara. Analisis data yang di gunakan adalah reduksi data, penyajian data, penarkan kesimpulan dan verifikasi data. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa hasil belajar siswa pada pembelajaran Bahasa Inggris berada pada kategori rendah. Ada tiga faktor yang mempengaruhi rendahnya hasil belajar siswa yang bersumber dari faktor luar yaitu: 1) faktor keluarga, termasuk pendidikan orang tua, hubungan antar angota keluarga, atmosfer dalam rumah dan status ekonomi. 2) faktor sekolah, termasuk strategi guru dalam mengajar, fasilitas dan infrastruktur, hubungan siswa dan guru, tingkat kesulitan materi belajar dan atmosfer dalam kelas. 3) lingkungan termasuk partisipai dalam kegiatan social, hungan dengan tetangga dan teman sekelas.

Abstract

The problem statements of this research were: (1) what kind of teachers’problems in teaching English at seventh grade of SMP Negeri 1 Baubau; and (2) how do teachers overcome the problems in teaching English at seventh grade of SMP Negeri 1 Baubau. The purpose of the research were: (1) to reveal the kind of teachers problems in teaching English at seventh grade of SMP Negeri 1 Baubau; and (2) to find out the solutions the teachers overcome the problems in teaching English at seventh grade of SMP Negeri 1 Baubau. This research was a qualitative research by applying a qualitative description method. The subjects of this research were ten students of the seventh grade and a teacher of SMP Negeri 1 Baubau. The instruments used were observation, interview, and document study. The technique of data analysis used were data collection, data reduction, data presentation (display data), and conclusion. Based on findings in this research, the result showed that the seventh grade English teacher faced problems when teaching English, they are lack of motivation, lack of vocabulary, lack of time allocation and lack of facility. Based on the problems, teachers took solutions to overcome these problems by creating a pleasant atmosphere, being fun teacher, using song, drama, vocabulary game and code switching, simplifying materials, increasing time allocation, as well as providing facilities in school.

Abstract

Masalah utama dalam penelitian ini adalah apa ciri linguistik dari teacher talk guru bahasa Inggris di SMP Negeri 1 Batauga? Penelitian ini bertujuanuntuk mendapatkan gambaran tentang teacher talk guru bahasa Inggris dan untuk mendeskripsikan jenis teacher talk guru dalam interaksi antara guru dan siswa di kelas. Dalam penelitian ini, peneliti mengunakan desain deskriptif kualitatif yang menggambarkan dan menganalisis kondisi subjek penelitian yang sebenarnya berdasarkan data yang diperoleh. Subjek penelitian adalah guru bahasa Inggris SMP Negeri 1 Batauga kelas VIII. Data penelitian ini dikumpulkan melalui observasi, dokumen dan wawancara. Data analisis melalui tiga tahapan yang diadopsi dari Miles and Huberman; reduksi data, penyajian data, dan penarikan kesimpulan. Berdasarkan analisis data, dapat disimpulkan bahwa ciri linguistic guru SMP Negeri 1 Batauga di tunjukkan dengan karakteristik linguistic yang sering digunakan oleh guru. Sebagian besar guru menggunakan secara umum dan tag question dan juga lebih banyak menggunakan pengulangan, pertanyaan umum, dan menggunakan penyesuaian linguistik untuk pembicaraan yang dapat dipahami siswa seperti parafrasa dan pengulangan.

Abstract

The problem statement of this research was what types and factors effecting the english-speaking anxiety of tenth grade students of SMA Negeri 1 Baubau. The objective of this research was to identify what types and factors effecting the speaking anxiety of grade tenth students of SMA Neeri 1 Baubau. This research used the qualitative research design. The subject of this research was the grade tenth students at SMA Negeri 1 Baubau in the odd semester 2022/2023. The data was obtained by observation and interview then was analyzed by the researcher with three steps: data reduction, data display, and draw conclusion or verification. This research found that there were three types and factors that effected the grade tenth students’ speaking anxiety of SMA Negeri 1 Baubau. For types anxiety there were communication apprehension, test anxiety, and fear of negative evaluation. And for factors anxiety, there were afraid of making mistakes, lack of vocabulary, and lack of confident.
