Abstract

Being a multicultural society is a challenge for Indonesia. The diversity of cultures and beliefs is increasingly causing conflict in the community. Conflicts of thought are often a problem, especially religious conflicts. Indonesia is a pluralistic country with diverse ethnicities, races, cultures, languages, and religions. Indonesia knows several religions, namely Islam, Roman Catholicism, Protestantism, Hinduism, Buddhism, and Confucianism. These religions have different principles and beliefs. The lack of a social order to properly manage these differences has the potential to create conflict. It is a common understanding that inter-religious conflicts are contrary to religious principles, which teach the values of peace. Handling social conflicts like this must be based on teaching the importance of tolerance between religious communities in a multicultural society. Conflict resolution of beliefs in tolerance of diversity can be achieved by internalizing education, preventing identity politics in a democracy, and inclusive leaders in knitting multicultural values in Indonesia. This study uses a qualitative approach with data and literature sources related to resolving conflicts of trust in a multicultural society in Indonesia.

Abstract

Peacekeeping is a global challenge that requires active engagement from the international community. One increasingly necessary form of involvement is through the deployment of civilian peacekeepers. Indonesia, as a nation with a longstanding commitment to UN peacekeeping missions, can play a more active and significant role in providing civilian peacekeepers. This research aims to analyze the strategies and concrete steps that Indonesia can take to enhance its participation in UN peacekeeping missions through civilian peacekeepers. By reviewing past experiences and contributions, this study provides profound insights into Indonesia's potential contributions in this context. The research methodology involves analyzing Indonesia's foreign policy, case studies on civilian peacekeeper participation, and interviews with relevant stakeholders, including government representatives, non-governmental organizations, and academic figures. The research findings indicate that increasing Indonesia's participation in UN peacekeeping missions through civilian peacekeepers requires enhancing human resource capacity, strengthening inter-agency cooperation, and formulating more directed policies. The implications of these findings include recommendations for strengthening training programs, developing international cooperation agreements, and actively using diplomacy to promote Indonesia's role as a civilian peacekeeper. By exploring potential and addressing existing challenges, this research presents a comprehensive view of how Indonesia can more effectively contribute to UN peacekeeping missions through civilian peacekeepers, with the hope of strengthening Indonesia's role in maintaining global peace and security.

Abstract

The problem of High Social Gap in Papua is an indication of the causes of marginalization and discrimination against the Papuan people. The difference in perceptions of some Indonesian people at home and abroad regarding the armed separatist conflict is a push factor to corner the Indonesian government. Apart from that, the issue of the internationalization of the 1969 referendum mechanism, violations of Human Rights (HAM), and the management of Natural Resources (SDA) by multinational companies which did not have an impact on improving the welfare of the Papuan people also complement the opinion of the government's failure. Based on the background of the problem, this research uses qualitative research methods and a descriptive approach. The research results show that conflict resolution in Papua can be implemented through (three) things, namely the first, the gradual development of an Integrated Food Estate (IFE) according to traditional areas in Papua, which will indirectly support the realization of Territorial Resilience and the Universal Defense System (Sishanta). Furthermore, to ensure that all these processes are carried out well and continuously, it is necessary to form an Integrated Solution Center (ISC). To eliminate the issue of internationalization of Papua, it is necessary to implement International Defense Diplomacy (IDD) carried out by Indonesian government agents abroad to socialize International Laws which are the juridical basis that Papua is part of the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia (NKRI). By implementing all these recommendations, it is hoped that a peaceful and prosperous Papuan society will soon be realized.
