Abstract

The aims of the research are 1) to know the students attitudes who join teenager religious meeting program to the, 2) to know the students attitudes who do not  join teenager religious meeting program to the teachers, 3) to know the influences of teenager religious meeting program to the students’ attitude to the teachers.The methods of this research are quantitative ex-post facto. The research is held at  SMP Negeri 2 Gemolong Sragen in August 2015 up to January 2016. The population of this research is 190 students of the seventh and eighth grades. The sample is 148 students of the seventh and eighth grades. The data is analyzed by using normality test requirement by using chi quadrat formula, and hypothesis by using uji-t formula. We can conclude that 1) the students’ attitude who join religious meeting program for teenager to the teachers is at medium category which are 40 students, 2) the students’ attitude who do not join religious meeting program for teenager to the teachers is at medium category which are 108 students,3) the result of comparative analysis uji-t formula shows that the value of (thitung 11,588 > ttabel 1.960) which has significant level 5%, therefore there are influences of religious meeting program for teenager to the teachers.Keyword: religious meeting program for teenager, student's attitude to teachers

Abstract

This research aims to obtain information regarding participants' responses regarding the materials presented in Introduction to Academic Culture and Student Affairs (PBAK) activities. The subjects of this study were PBAK students batch 2018 and 2019, totaling 6198 students. Extracting data using questionnaires, observations, interviews, and documentation. The results of this study indicate that the implementation of PBAK batch 2018 and 2019 can be accepted by students which the materials mostly in positive responses, (1) correlate with the adjustment attitude of PBAK participant 98,37 % positive responses on history, vision and mission of UIN Antasari Banjarmasin, (2) there is 94, 56 % positive responses regarding the Islamic and national insight material, ( 3) participants also responded 97.33% positively to study success and organizations in Higher Education material, (4) social environmental responsibility is 96,86 % in positive response, (5) there are 96.57% students gave positive responses regarding the material on critical analysis of the implementation of the student government concept, (6) the total number of applicants expressed positive responses cosmopolitan millennials with morals and social care and transformation and agent of win manifesto towards civilized people were more about that 97.53% , (7) the material of intrapersonal and interpersonal skills material, it is known that 96.86% of gave positive responses to this material, (8) the scientific writing material was 96,01% in positive response and (9) For 96,61 % positive response given to students ethics material. The psychological impact felt by participants is the emergence of feelings of joy or happiness, usefulness, and motivation from participating in PBAK activities.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui kesulitan mahasiswa asing dalam memahami teks bacaan pada program pengajaran bahasa Indonesia untuk mahasiswa asing (BIPA) UIN Antasari Banjarmasin. Subyek penelitian adalah 14 mahasiswa yang berasal dari Sarawak, Malaysia. Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan adalah tes, observasi, wawancara dan dokumentasi selama kegiatan di Program BIPA. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa siswa menemukan kesulitan dalam memahami teks bahasa Indonesia karena kurangnya pengetahuan tentang topik pelajaran, kurangnya kosa kata, dan masalah dalam mengolah informasi setelah membaca dan penggunaan strategi membaca yang tidak memadai dalam proses pembelajaran. Implikasi dari penelitian ini, isi mata pelajaran BIPA bahasa Indonesia perlu diperluas secara terus-menerus dalam pengembangan kurikulum BIPA berdasarkan kesulitan siswa dan budaya lokal.This research aims to determine the difficulties of foreign students in understanding reading texts in the Indonesian language teaching program for foreign students (BIPA) at UIN Antasari Banjarmasin. The research subjects were 14 students from Sarawak, Malaysia. The data collection techniques used were tests, observations, interviews and documentation during activities in the BIPA Program. The research results show that students find difficulties in understanding Indonesian texts due to lack of knowledge about lesson topics, lack of vocabulary, and problems in processing information after reading and inadequate use of reading strategies in the learning process. The implication of this research is that the content of BIPA Indonesian subjects needs to be continuously expanded in the development of the BIPA curriculum based on student difficulties and local culture.

Abstract

Teacher’s professional development is a long journey and it should be started from the college. The present paper discusses the development of pre-service teachers’ teaching performance at English department of State Islamic University of Antasari Banjarmasin when they were participating in the teaching practice program. It elaborates what they had done in the program and how their performance improved week by week. There were ten pre-service teachers who became the subjects of this report. The writer recorded their teaching techniques, media, and some feedbacks in a field note. An interview was also conducted to better understand their personal self-reflection on what they have achieved and to figure out their problems in teaching. The result of the study shows that the teaching practice program helped the pre-service teacher to develop their teaching performance by getting the feedback from the supervisor. The students’ ability to plan a lesson was improved week by week. They knew how to structure the lesson and write good lesson plan. In explaining the lesson, some common problems located on their pronunciation and grammar skills. Some also needed to know the way to manage and engage the students, and to close the lesson. The Pre-service teachers were able to use various media but they need to have better preparation to use them. In term of method used, CA, GTM, and ALM were commons method used by the students to teach various topics/ skills.

Abstract

This study investigates EFL students' experiences using YouTube channels in their essay-writing learning. Ten fourth-semester English Education Department students from UIN Antasari Banjarmasin participated in the study. Interviews and documentation were used to gather data using a qualitative approach and the narrative inquiry method. The results indicated that YouTube videos provide visual aids and flexible access, which aid students in developing their writing abilities, increasing their vocabulary, and learning on their own. Nevertheless, problems including passive learning, distraction, and a lack of lecturer contact also surfaced. In general, YouTube's contribution to writing education was seen as advantageous.

Abstract

This study aims to identify the levels of digital literacy, critical thinking skills, and research competence among EFL students, and to examine the correlation and predictive contribution of the two independent variables to students’ research competence. Employing a quantitative approach with a correlational design, data were collected through multiple-choice tests administered to 66 eighth-semester students of the English Education Department at UIN Antasari Banjarmasin, all of whom had taken research-related courses and were conducting or had completed their undergraduate thesis. Descriptive statistics indicated that students demonstrated relatively high levels across all three variables: digital literacy (M = 79.00, SD = 8.35), critical thinking skills (M = 83.47, SD = 7.15), and research competence (M = 76.74, SD = 6.12). The results of multiple linear regression analysis revealed a strong and statistically significant correlation between digital literacy and critical thinking skills toward students’ research competence (R = 0.897, R² = 0.804). The regression coefficients showed that both variables positively contributed to the prediction of research competence, with critical thinking skills (B = 0.521) contributing slightly more than digital literacy (B = 0.463). These findings underscore the pivotal role of critical thinking and digital literacy in enhancing students’ research competence within the EFL context, and highlight the importance of integrating these skills more deeply into English language education and academic research training.

Abstract

Children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) tend to exhibit a unique trajectory in the acquisition of language with some documented research. However, research investigating children with ASD in English (L2) language acquisition is limited, particularly in Indonesian ASD children. This research explores the factors that allowed this unanticipated foreign language acquisition, thereby causing delays in native speech, and investigates strategies that could help overcome the child's linguistic challenges. This case study research involved a six-year-old Indonesian ASD child experiencing early self-learning of English and speech delay in her native language. The data were garnered through observations, interviews, and field notes before being thematically analyzed. The results show that the internal factor of speech delay is prematurity, and the external influential factors are the high intensity of English language exposure through media, English daily interactions with family members, and the use of different first languages in the social environment. Abstract

Sejalan dengan perkembangan penduduk suatu kota, akan meningaktkan kebutuhan lahan untuk memenuhi kebutuhan masyarakat, diantaranya adalah untuk kebutuhan permukiman, pengembangan kegiatan sosial dan ekonomi masyarakat. Di sisi lain ketersediaan lahan yang ada tetap, sehingga hal ini mengakibatkan banyak terjadi ali fungsi peruntukan lahan. Demikian juga halnya yang terjadi di Kawasan Kalimalang Kota Bekasi. Kawasan Kalimalang Kota Bekasi yang terdapat di tengah-tengah Kota Bekasi memupunyai fungsi sebagai kawasan yang berfungsi lindung. Pada kenyataannya pada saat ini, kawasan Kalimalang secara sporadis dimanfaatkan oleh masyarakat untuk permukiman, perdagangan serta penggunaan jasa lainnya seerti seperti jasa bengkel. Semua kegiatan sosial ekonomi masyarakat yang terdapat di Kawasan kalimalang, membuang limbahnya ke Kalimalang. Hal ini mengakibatkan terjadinya penurunan kualitas air sungai Kalimalang yang merupakan salah satu sumber air baku untuk memenuhi kebutuhan air bersih di Kota Bekasi. Berdasarkan Kalimalang Bekasi dimanfaatkan sebagai sumber air baku di Kota Bekasi ialah Kalimalang. Oleh karena itu perlu dilakukan kajian untuk mengendalikan pemanfaatan lahan di sekitar Kawasan Kalimalang Kota Bekasi agar dapat mewujudkan kondisi lingkungan yang lestari sesuai rencana tata ruang. Tujuan yang diharapkan dari studi ini (1) identifikasi karakteristik masyarakat yang tinggal di kawasan studi; (2) identifikasi faktor yang mengalami penyimpangan penggunaan lahan; dan (3) identifikasi faktor yang mempengaruhi penggunaan lahan. Metode aanalisis yang dilakukan untuk mencapai tujuan tersebut adalah metode super impose antara pemanfaatan lahan eksisting dengan rencana tata ruang dana analisis kesesuaian peruntukan lahan; analisis korelasi kontingensi untuk melihat hubungan antara pemanfaatan lahan dengan kondisi masyarakat, serta analisis deskriptif untuk memberikan gambaran tentang kebijakan tata ruang Kota Bekasi. Dengan menggunakan analisis tersebut, diperoleh hasil bahwa pemanfaatan lahan di Kawasan Kalimalang mengalami pergeseran peruntukan sebesar 65,80 % dari luas lahan kawasan yaitu 123.938 ha. Hal ini disebabkan karena rendahnya tingkat pendapatan masyarakat dan tingginya aksesibiltas dari kawasan ini menuju ke tempat kerja masyarakat. Untuk mengatasi kondisi tersebut, kawasan kalimalang harus dikendalikan pemanfaatannya dengan mengembalikan fungsi kawasan sebagai kawasan yang berfungsi lindung. Oleh karena itu langkah yang dilakukan adalah dengan merelokasi masyarakat yang tinggal di kawasan studi dan menata ulang Kawasan kalimalang sesuai dengan daya dukung dan daya tampung kawasan. Hal ini dilakukan untuk dapat mewujudkan pemanfaatan lahan berkelanjutan di Kawasan Kalimalang.

Abstract

The teaching of grammar is frequently uninteresting so most of students are reluctant to learn this subject. Inviting them to learn the grammar by incorporating the use of technology may become a new way to attract their attention. In the present research, the writer conducted a research to compare the impact of grammar instructions on two classes, which used two different techniques to teach grammar: conventional method and video-making activities (VMA). There were 51 students of English Department at State Institute for Islamic Studies who participated in the research. The data were collected by using a test to measure their grammar mastery and a questionnaire to understand their respond toward the method. The resultshowed that the students who were taught by using the VMA had no better grammar mastery compared to those who were taught using the conventional method. However, the result of questionnaire yielded that most of the students agreed that the VMA was fun and interesting. This activity, according to them, also promoted creativity and technology literacy.

Abstract

In the contemporary digital era, social media constitutes a significant and pervasive element of students' daily experiences, especially within the domain of foreign language acquisition. This qualitative narrative inquiry sought to comprehensively explore the nuanced effects of various social media applications on the writing abilities of English as a Foreign Language (EFL) students enrolled at Universitas Islam Negeri Antasari, Banjarmasin. This study focused on three English education students who were chosen because they actively use social media and are learning English as a Foreign Language (EFL). Researchers gathered information through in-depth, semi-structured interviews and narrative frameworks to understand their personal experiences. The data were analyzed using narrative analysis to find common themes and important insights. The results show that popular social media platforms like Instagram, TikTok, and Twitter help students improve their writing. Students gained more vocabulary, felt more confident expressing themselves in English, and saw real examples of English in different situations. Still, the study found some downsides, including students using more informal language, having fewer opportunities for face-to-face interaction, and spending too much time on their phones. The study concludes with teaching suggestions that offer ways to make the most of social media’s benefits while reducing its negative effects in EFL writing classes.
