Abstract

This study aims to examine the effect of empathy on religious conflict, using Gaza as a case study. The method employed was simple regression analysis on a sample of 151 Muslim students aged 18-25 years. This research applied a quantitative approach with a cross-sectional design to analyze the relationship between variables. The results indicate that empathy significantly affects religious conflict, with a coefficient value of sig = .000 (p < .05). These findings suggest that empathy can be one of the factors in reducing tensions between groups in religious contexts. However, this study is limited to a student sample and a single case context, so the results must be generalised cautiously. Future research should expand the demographic scope and consider other socio-cultural factors to gain a more comprehensive understanding. These findings are expected to contribute to developing empathy-based interventions to reduce tensions in religious and social contexts.

Abstract

Life satisfaction is a crucial component of psychological well-being, and its role as a mediator between religious practices, such as taqwa, and overall mental health in Muslim adolescents is an emerging area of interest. The research aims to bridge the gap in understanding how religious values, particularly the love and fear of Allah, influence life satisfaction and psychological well-being. A mixed-methods approach with a convergent parallel design was employed to collect both quantitative and qualitative data. Quantitative data were gathered using validated scales. Qualitative data were obtained through open-ended questions to capture personal experiences. Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) was utilized to assess the direct and indirect relationships between variables, while qualitative analysis provided a contextual understanding of the quantitative findings. The quantitative analysis revealed that taqwa positively influenced both life satisfaction (path coefficient = 0.191, p < 0.001) and psychological well-being (path coefficient = 0.134, p = 0.005). Life satisfaction was found to significantly mediate the relationship between taqwa and psychological well-being, amplifying the beneficial effects of faith.  However, the fear of Allah was not directly associated with psychological well-being and may contribute to anxiety when not balanced with love for Allah. Qualitative responses emphasized that authentic spiritual engagement, such as the love and worship of Allah, fostered peace and happiness among students. The findings highlight the importance of nurturing love, hope, and gratitude toward Allah, suggesting that faith-based programs should emphasize these aspects to improve mental health. This research can inform the development of emotional resilience and spiritual fulfillment programs in Islamic boarding schools.

Abstract

The characteristics of Organizational Citizenship Behavior (OCB) include empathy, conscientiousness, civic participation, and politeness. On the other hand, psychological capital turns on self-efficacy, hope, resilience, and optimism. The design of this study is quantitative using variance-based Structural Equation Model (SEM) and Partial Least Squares (PLS) approach to generate discriminant validity. The population in this study were teachers who were estimated. Questionnaires were used as part of the data collection method. The findings of the study showed a significant relationship between altruism, civic participation, politeness, self-efficacy, hope, and resilience with psychological well-being in early childhood teachers. The variables conscientiousness and optimism did not show a statistically significant positive effect. The results of this study provide a significant contribution to our understanding of the factors that influence the psychological well-being of early childhood teachers. In addition, the current findings of this study have important implications for the development of interventions and strategies aimed at improving the well-being of early childhood teachers. In conclusion, this study highlights the importance of specific dimensions of OCB and Psychological Capital in improving the psychological well-being of early childhood teachers. By focusing on the development of positive behaviors and psychological resources, educational stakeholders can create supportive environments that improve overall teacher well-being in early childhood education settings.
