Abstract

The propeller turbine is a water turbine that is suitable for use at low heads such as irrigation canals and rivers. Hydrokinetic energy development is the most feasible option in Indonesia. However, currently the development of hydrokinetic energy in Indonesia is still very low. The propeller turbine is a water turbine which is suitable for use at low heads. This turbine is classified as a microhyro and has a head between 1-5 m. This study was conducted to compare the effect of using a double rotor on a propeller turbine. Changes in turbine performance were reviewed through the rotational speed of the rotor, torque, mechanical power and turbine electrical voltage. This research was conducted experimentally in a closed-loop test section. A pump drives fluid flowing in the closed-loop test section at flow rates of 0.05, 0.1 and 0.15 liter/s. the use of a double propeller turbine results in an increase in turbine performance above 5%. This is because turbines with double rotors have a large cross-sectional area compared to single-rotor turbines. Thus the energy contained in the fluid can be transmitted optimally to drive the turbine surface with a double rotor.Keyword: Turbin Propeller, Double rotor, microhydro

Abstract

Redaman getaran dapat menggunakan mekanisme arus Eddy. Sistem utama diberi magnet dan didekatkan dengan logam konduktif sehingga timbul arus Eddy tersebut. Belum ada aplikasi jenis mekanisme ini untuk menghasilkan redaman non-linier. Pada penelitian ini, pendulum memiliki dua sisi lengan, lengan magnet dan lengan beban. Bidang gerak pendulum dan pelat tembaga membentuk sudut. Konfigurasi baru ini menghasilkan peredam non-linier dengan adanya sisi gerak simpangan pendulum yang dekat dan jauh dengan pelat. Jarak engsel pendulum dan pelat dibuat sama sehingga semakin kecil sudut semakin jauh sisi terdekat magnet-pelat. Respon getaran diperoleh dengan menggunakan software Tracker. Redaman yang dihasilkan tidak sama di dua sisi simpangan pendulum. Nilai redaman lebih besar di sisi simpangan yang dekat pelat. Semakin kecil sudut posisi bidang gerak pendulum bermagnet dan pelat logam semakin lama pendulum mencapai kondisi tunak dan semakin kecil nilai redaman rata-ratanya.

Abstract

Bawang mengalami proses pengupasan dan pemotongan. Industri rumah tangga masih menggunakan berbagai jenis mesin pengupas dan pemotong mandiri. Pada penelitian ini dirancang mesin pengupas, pemotong, dan penggiling dengan menggunakan pipa pengupas yang dapat disesuaikan untuk kebutuhan pengupasan atau pemotongan langsung. Metode yang digunakan untuk memperoleh harga pokok produksi adalah dengan menganalisis perhitungan proses manufaktur, termasuk perhitungan komponen proses manufaktur. Hasil perencanaan dan perhitungan menunjukkan bahwa gaya pengelupasan adalah 2,49 kgf, sedangkan gaya potong adalah 1,8 kgf. Pada putaran yang direncanakan 700 rpm, daya motor menjadi 117 W, sehingga digunakan motor dengan daya 0,25 HP. Percobaan menggunakan 1 kg bawang merah, waktu pengupasan mencapai sekitar 3,5 menit dan waktu pemotongan 20 detik. Total waktu proses pemesinan diperoleh 42,17 jam, total biaya proses pemesinan diperoleh Rp1.328.141, total pembelian bahan Rp5.220.000, dan total biaya produksi mencapai Rp6.548.141. Onions undergo the processes of peeling and cutting. Home industries still use different types of independent peeling and cutting machines. In this study, a peeling, cutting, and grinding machine were designed using an adjustable peeling tube for peeling or direct cutting needs. The method used to obtain the cost of production was by analyzing the calculation of the manufacturing process, including the calculation of the component manufacturing process. The results of planning and calculating showed that the peeling force was 2.49 kgf, while the cutting force was 1.8 kgf. At a planned rotation of 700 rpm, the motor power became 117 W, so a motor with a power of 0.25 HP was used. The experiment using 1 kg of onions, the peeling time reached about 3.5 minutes and the cutting time was 20 seconds. The total machining process time gained 42.17 hours, the total machining process costs earned IDR 1,328.141, the total purchase of materials was IDR 5,220,000, and the total production cost reached IDR 6,548,141.

Abstract

The biggest potential possessed by Campurejo Village, Panceng-Gresik District is its natural resources which are close to the sea. This makes the majority of its peoples work as fishermen. The fish caught are usually sold directly in the market or processed into smoked fish. The smoking process is carried out conventionally. This can make the amount of smoked fish production limited each day. This activity aims to provide a solution to increasing the amount of smoked fish production produced every day by using more modern machines. After the machine has been made, a machine use workshop is held with the aim of providing information regarding the use and advantages of this machine. This machine has a capacity of 14 Watts, with an AC current source and a roasting time of 30 minutes to produce 5 kg of smoked fish.

Abstract

Fishing at sea is part of the livelihood of coastal communities. In the sea conditions there are a lot of obstacles experienced by fishermen, one of which is when the engine experiences lose compression which causes the engine to die so that fishermen will find it difficult to change positions or if they want to land. For this reason, this community service done to help the fishermen in knowing the symptoms and disturbance experienced by the engines that they use on the ship by taking care as well as maintenance that will be done when they encounter problems. The coastal community of nambangan is one of the economic centers in the marine sector that produces a variety of processed seafood both food and decoration located in Surabaya. From field observations and direct interviews with the head of the local fishing community, there were three focusses aspects of this community service program, namely the engine problems, troubleshooting, and the engine maintenance. The counseling, was hoped that the fishermen will be able to understand and maintenance the condition of their ship's engine in order to minimize obstacles when they are at sea. And also to increase their sea products food and processed seafood products in order to meet consumer demand.

Abstract

Kampung Nambangan Perak is located in Kelurahan Kedung Cowek, Bulak District, Surabaya, East Java. The majority of Nambangan residents work as fishermen. The Nambangan community is still unfamiliar with the use of alternative energy such as solar cells to replace fuel oil. The road access of village environment was only illuminated independently by installed map of people’s residents. The dim road conditions can cause a sense of alertness to residents and road users who spent the night. In addition, the installation of lamps with greater power can burden the economy of residents due to rising electricity prices. Based on field observations and direct interviews with local residents, there were three focuses aspects of this community service program, namely the introduction of alternative energy to residents, installation and guidance of lamp maintenance equipped with solar panels. Along with the implementation of guidance and education program for the Nambangan community, it is hoped that the residents will understand and feel familiar with the availability of alternative energy. The residents are also expected to be able to apply the use of alternative energy in their daily life. In addition, residents are expected to be able to carry out the process of assembling and maintaining alternative energy sources, especially solar panels.

Abstract

Air flow in the view of fluid mechanics phenomena is very important to study, for this reason many researchers have carried out experiments to prove that air flow has various characteristics in aerodynamics. In this research, researchers tried to create an air flow test tool, namely the Win Tunnel with low wind capacity, which is usually referred to as subsonic, as a learning medium for measuring laboratory capacity air flow. The method used in this research is experimental, where first a Subsonic Wind Tunnel design is created that can be used as a test tool, before the test tool can be used properly. In this study, the parameters used to determine the suitability of the tool were measuring the turbulence intensity value by placing positions in the test section, namely the front, middle and back of the test section location. by using variations in inverter fan rotation at frequencies of 15 Hz, 30 Hz and 45 Hz. The results of this research obtained a Mach Number value below 0.3, which proves that the Wint Tunnel made has the correct specifications, namely subsonic. From the results of positioning in the test section to obtain turbulence intensity, the results were 11.15%, 7.83%, and 12.5% at f15 Hz, 6.54%, 2%, and 2.76% at f30 Hz, while at f45 Hz the results were 2.47%, 0.87%, and 1.67%.. The best position for placing the pitot tube is in the middle of the test section

Abstract

Circular cylinder is one form of bluff body that is often used in engineering and industrial applications. The addition of a square placed in front of the circular cylinder aims to accelerate the flow from laminar to turbulent so that flow separation can be delayed more slowly so that the resulting pressure drag is smaller. The research method used was experimental using two circular cylinders arranged in tandem with a diameter (D) of 25 mm and variations in the distance between cylinders (L/D) 2;2,5;3;3,5;4 and two square-shaped square bodies (SDB) in front of each cylinder with dimensions of 4 mm. Position of SDB angle is 30o and the gap distance is 0.4 mm. The Reynolds number used is 2.3x104. This study aims to obtain the distribution of pressure coefficient (CP), drag pressure coefficient (CDP) and velocity profile behind the test specimen. The results showed that the addition of two square-shaped square bodies on each cylinder can reduce the drag force on the cylinder which causes a difference in values, where the largest pressure coefficient value occurs at a distance of L/D 4 with a value of -1.073 and the lowest value of drag pressure coefficient (CDP) at a distance of L/D 2 on the upstream cylinder with a value of 0.0786. While the downstream cylinder is located at a distance of L/D 3 with a value of -0.079 and the lowest speed value is located in the variation of L/D 4 with a value of 9.52 m/s.

Abstract

Sprocket is one of the main components in two-wheeled vehicles that transfer the rotary force from the engine to the rear wheels of the motorcycle. Because of this main function, the sprocket wears out faster due to friction between the chain and the sprocket. Therefore, a heat treatment process is needed to improve the mechanical properties of steel to make it more resistant to friction. Based on this background, this research focuses on the effect of temperature and cooling media on the hardness level of the material that receiving heat treatment in the form of flame hardening. The material used is S45C steel. The heat treatment process is carried out on steel with heating temperatures of 750º C and 850º C. After being heated, the steel will be quenched quickly with cooling media in the form of fresh water and turalic oil 48 ISO VG 46. Next, the hardness analysis process is carried out on the test object. From the results of the hardness test, it was found that the highest average hardness value was produced by the test object which underwent a flame hardening process at a temperature of 850 oC with fresh water cooling medium, which was 335.333 HB. Fresh water cooling media tends to produce higher hardness values ​​than turalic oil. This is because the cooling rate of fresh water is faster than oil.

Abstract

The demand for electrical power is increasing, and with the depletion of fossil fuel reserves, there are numerous opportunities to explore alternative energy sources. Ocean waves have emerged as a promising renewable energy option, particularly in developed nations. Given Indonesia's geography as an archipelagic country with numerous beaches, it is well positioned to harness the potential of ocean wave power plants. Among the various ocean wave power plant designs, the oscillating water column system stands out for its ease of implementation and minimal access requirements. This system operates by capturing the air pressure generated by ocean waves reaching the coast. A study was conducted to experiment with a prototype power generation mechanism that serves as both a pressure generator and a substitute for artificial waves in the oscillating water column power plant system. The objective of this study was to investigate the impact of varying ballast masses on pressure and power generation. The test results revealed that the minimum pressure and power output were recorded with a ballast mass of 0 kg, yielding a pressure of 214.62 N and a power output of 8.811 J/s. Conversely, the maximum compressive force and power output were achieved with a ballast mass of 2 kg, resulting in a compressive force of 235.2 N and a compressive power of 15.755 J/s. The highest efficiency was observed with a ballast mass of 2 kg, yielding an efficiency of 45%.
