Abstract

Soil-Transmitted Helminths (STH) Infection is a worm infection which is transmitted through soil. STH is still a public health problems around the world, including Indonesia. The tropical climates of Indonesia is a suitable environment for viability of STH. The prevalence of STH in Bali since 2003-2007 reached 40.94%-92.4%. The altitude of an area may affect the rate of STH infection. The rate of STH infection is higher on population in highland area compared to lowland area. This study aimed to identify risk factors of STH infection in elementary school students in highland and lowland area in Gianyar Regency. This study used cross sectional analytic design and was conducted in 2016. The total samples of this study were 104 students which were consisted of 53 students in highland area and 51 students in lowland area. The samples were collected using cluster random sampling technique. The specimens were examined using Kato-katz method. The results showed that the prevalence of STH infection in elementary school students in highland area (28.31%) was higher than in lowland area (1.96%). In lowland area, the risk factor could not be clearly identified because there was only one student with a positive STH infection. Meanwhile, the identified dominants risk factors which influence STH infection in highland area were habit of washing hands using soap (AOR=24.99), fingernails cleanliness (AOR= 13.19) and parents income (AOR=18.83).

Abstract

Background and purpose: The prevalence of hypertension has been increasing along with the increasing elderly population. Non-pharmacological therapies such as sports and slow stroke back massage offer a potential adjuvant therapy for elderly patient with chronic hypertension. This study aims to determine the efficacy of sports and slow stroke back massage as nonpharmacological therapies to lower blood pressure in this age group. Methods: This study was a Parallel Group Randomized Controlled Trial, conducted in Patrang, Jember, East Java. The study involved a total of 72 elderly aged between 60 to 79 years old who had blood pressure of ≥140/90mmHg, and not taking antihypertensive drugs. The study participants were assigned randomly into three groups namely, the sports massage, slow stroke back massage, and control groups. Subject characteristics, stress level, physical activity level and eating habit were collected through structured interview using standardized questionnaires (Global Physical Activity Questionnaire, Food Frequency Questionnaire, Depression Anxiety Stress Scale (DASS 21)). Blood pressure measurements were done twice, before and after treatment. Before and after comparison was conducted with Wilcoxon test, between group comparison was conducted with Kruskal Wallis test followed by Mann Whitney test. Results: The average systolic blood pressures before and after sports massage were 168.96±SD 16.02 mmHg and 147.50±SD 15.95 mmHg, respectively. For the slow stroke back massage was 165.42±12.50 mmHg before treatment and 154.58±16.15 mmHg after treatment. The systolic and diastolic blood pressures before and after treatment in the treatment groups (sports massage and slow stroke back massage) were statistically different from the control group (p <0.05). Further, the Mann Whitney results indicated that slow stroke back massage was more effective than sports massage in lowering blood pressure in elderly with hypertension. Conclusions: Sport massage and slow stroke back massage are effective as a non-pharmacological therapy in lowering blood pressure in elderly with hypertension. Abstract

Sudaji Tourism Village is one of the community-based tourist destinations located in Buleleng Regency, Bali, known for its natural beauty and rich cultural heritage. Its main attractions include trekking to scenic waterfalls and experiencing local cultural traditions such as the Ngusaba Bukakak ceremony. The village adopts the concept of Community-Based Tourism (CBT), which emphasizes economic, socio-cultural, and environmental dimensions. This study aims to analyze the implementation of CBT in Sudaji Tourism Village and to identify the challenges encountered during its application. A qualitative research approach was employed, with data collected through observation, in-depth interviews, documentation, and literature study. Informants were selected using purposive sampling based on their involvement in the village tourism management. The findings indicate that from an economic perspective, CBT implementation contributes to increased income and employment opportunities for the local community, including through homestay businesses, food stalls, tour guiding, and entrepreneurship. In terms of socio-cultural aspects, capacity-building training and the preservation of local traditions—such as the Ngusaba Bukakak ceremony and traditional Balinese musical instruments (gamelan and rindik)—play a key role. Environmentally, CBT practices are reflected in community initiatives such as regular communal clean-ups, tree planting along tourist access roads, and local waste management. This study underscores the importance of active community participation in fostering sustainable tourism development. Abstract

Gejala muncul 1–26 jam pascakonsumsi makanan, menunjukkan pola point source. Konsumsi ayam sisit berhubungan signifikan dengan kejadian keracunan (OR = 4,488; p = 0,004; CI 95%: 1,544 13,049). Seluruh kasus mengonsumsi ayam sisit.
