Abstract

Abstract

Soekarno's decision to simplify political parties during the Guided Democracy period resulted in a number of parties having to be dissolved or willing to dissolve themselves, including the Islamic-inspired political party, Masyumi. Prawoto Mangkusasmito, chairman of the Masyumi Islamic Party Center who opposed Soekarno's idea of guided democracy in the end chose to be loyal to Soekarno's decision, even though he tended to be considered semi-authoritarian. This study aims to explain Prawoto Mangkusasmito's political attitude towards the dissolution of the party which also had an impact on Masyumi. The method used in this research is descriptive method of historical analysis from a political approach perspective. Interpretation is generated through analysis of historical sources, related regulations, and literature studies. As a result, regarding political attitudes, even though he had fought for Masyumi, Prawoto remained loyal to the Presidential Decree No. 200 of 1960 concerning the Dismissal of the Masjumi Political Party; including parts / branches / branches throughout the territory of the Republic of Indonesia. His support for the dignity of the republic was clear, consistent and calculating. His political stance is motivated by the idea that people who fight for Islam and aim to uphold Islamic law should not be violated by Muslims in power. His thinking is optimistic that one day the policy of disbanding the party will change to a policy of reviving the party with efforts to uphold law and aspects of justice.

Abstract

AbstractThis study aims to examine the communication strategies carried out by the organization of former drug resistant tuberculosis patients Multidrug-Resistant Tuberculosis (MDR-TB) in assisting MDR-TB patients, both related to treatment, access to services, and about social impacts during treatment. As an innovation that was born in collaboration with the TB Sub Directorate of the Ministry of Health together with the Indonesia Challenge TB (CTB), the organization of ex-patients plays an important role in providing assistance. Because the treatment for MDR-TB patients is not easy in terms of the length of the treatment period, side effects of treatment, access to services, to other social problems. The former patient organization is present as a group that has undergone MDR-TB treatment periods so that the experience of delivering MDR-TB patients who are on medication has the same perception and motivation related to healing. The method used is a qualitative descriptive approach. Data obtained through observation, in-depth interviews (indepth interview), and documentation of all patient organization activities supported by CTB in 6 provinces in Indonesia. The results showed that through the similarity of fields of experience, the accompanying messages conveyed by patient organizations were channeled effectively. This is also supported by the interpersonal strategy of the organization of the former patient who plays himself as a peer educator in providing assistance and motivation for treatment. The communication is carried out by door to door (home visit), hospital visits, and through focus group discussions. This study also confirms the theory of Message Design Logic by Barbara O'Keefe that with the Rhetorical Message Design Logic, the message delivered is emphasized to achieve its goals not just the occurrence of response or reciprocity. In this case, supported by a shared experience, the motivation to complete treatment for TB patients will be more effective and get a good response. Keywords: Tuberculosis, MDR-TB, Interpersonal Communication, Field of ExperienceAbstraksiPenelitian ini bertujuan mengkaji strategi komunikasi yang dilakukan oleh organisasi mantan pasien tuberkulosis resisten obat (TBC-RO) dalam melakukan pendampingan terhadap pasien TBC-RO, baik terkait pengobatan, akses layanan, maupun perihal dampak sosial semasa pengobatan. Kata Kunci: Tuberkulosis, TBC-RO, Komunikasi Interpersonal, Field of Experience

Abstract

Vaccines and vaccinations have become the issues taking over the media coverage during the Covid-19 pandemic. The media deliberately displays data visualizations in the form of infographics to help the audiences understand the situation in a less complicated way. This study aims to identify messages conveyed through visualizations of infographic data in data journalism-based media in Indonesia. The samples of infographic contents were acquired through the information posted by the official Instagram accounts of katadata.co.id (@katadatacoid) and tirto.id (@tirtoid) as media that declared themselves to practice data journalism. The research method used in the study was content analysis using descriptive statistical analysis. The results of the study show that vaccine and vaccination issues are presented with statistical-based, as well as writing elements, background info, graphics, photos, icons, and diagram elements; the infographic includes elements of news completeness, such as using 5W+1H questioning method (what, who, where, when, why, and how) and mentioning credible sources; Infographic is an alternative way of reporting news during a pandemic. In addition, this research is expected to contribute to the media in making editorial reporting policies in the digital era, especially related to pandemic issues.

Abstract

Data journalism is a new genre in journalism that utilizes data visualization to engage the audience in news reporting. This engagement also provides certainty and minimizes the spread of misinformation regarding the COVID-19 vaccination policy in Indonesia. This study aims to explain how data journalism-based media, which is Katadata.co.id, communicates their news and embodies audience engagement through data visualization. The type of research is content analysis with quantitative and qualitative data collection techniques. In quantitative data collection, 49 news titles were searched, which were the results of keyword discovery in January-March 2021 in the “Data Journalism” rubric of Katadata.co.id. The data were coded according to indicators from a multimodal perspective in the concept of ergodic work, which are static information graphs, non-interactive dynamic data visualizations, and interactive dynamic data visualizations. Furthermore, in the qualitative step, the data was analyzed in-depth to explore how Katadata.co.id communicated news about COVID-19 vaccination with the showing and telling models. As a result, the COVID-19 vaccination news on Katadata.co.id also involved the audience in communicating it. In reporting the news, Katadata.co.id uses narrative techniques, which is the instance of narrators technique to characterize the narrative through the presence of news writers, the sequentiality technique to show the movement from one event to another by sliding the pages, the temporal dimension technique to describe the changes over the time with the help of dynamic elements, and tellability techniques to describe the worth-presenting COVID-19 vaccination news.
