Abstract

Responding to the increasingly critical condition of the Lake Toba ecosystem over time, including in the Toba Regency area, research related to ecoliteracy needs to be carried out. The purpose of this study is to measure the level of ecoliteracy abilities of high school students in Toba Regency based on 3 aspects (cognitive, affective, and behavior) and how the relationship between the three aspects of ecoliteracy abilities. The method used in this research is a survey method with a descriptive quantitative approach. Data collection techniques were carried out using tests, distributing questionnaires, and FGD activities. The results showed that the ecoliteracy abilities of students were in the "medium" category, with x̄ = 106.76 which gave different values to each aspect measured. Cognitive and behavioral aspects are in the "medium" category, while affective aspects are in the "high" category. Through this study, the Pearson correlation test results were also obtained (p>0.05) which showed that there was a significant relationship between cognitive, affective, and behavioral aspects with overall ecoliteracy abilities.

Abstract

The objectives of this study were as follows: (1) To develop online learning media products on Genetic Substance and Cell Division through feasibility and validity tests by material and media experts certifying that this biology learning media is suitable for use in the field; and (2) To determine whether or not the utilization of online learning media influences student learning outcomes through more active and comprehensive engagement, as determined by data analysis following the execution of the learning process. The learning outcomes of students are influenced by the level of effectiveness of online learning media pertaining to Genetic Substance and Cell Division, as measured by the Gain Score. The field trial successfully fulfilled the effectiveness criteria; therefore, it can be inferred that the developed online biology learning media pertaining to Genetic Substance and Cell Division has been utilized effectively and has the potential to enhance the academic performance of high school students in this subject matter. The research methodology is in accordance with Borg and Gall 's 4-D model, which comprises the following stages: determination or definition, design, development, and dissemination

Abstract

This research aims to determine the science process and high-level thinking of class X high school students who are given an inductive thinking and group investigation learning model. This research was carried out in April-June at MAN 1 Aceh Tenggara. The research population was all class X MIA students of 300 people. The sample was taken by purposive sampling and amounted to 60 people. The research results show that (1) There is a very significant difference in science process skills and learning models. The results of science process skills taught using the investigative group learning model (88.83 ± 8.37) were more significant than the inductive thinking learning model (85.50 ± 7.23); (2) There is a very significant difference between high level thinking and learning models. The results of higher level thinking taught using the investigative group learning model (87.33 ± 13.37) were more significant than the inductive thinking learning model (83.33 ± 12.41); (3) There are differences in science process skills given the inductive thinking learning model and group investigation at low and high KBA; (4) There are differences in high-level thinking given the inductive thinking learning model and group investigation at low and high KBA; (5) There is a relationship between science process skills and students' higher level thinking from the results of applying the inductive thinking learning model and group investigation, r = 0.876 and r^2 = 0.768.

Abstract

This research focuses on the development of Learner Worksheets (LKPD) based on interviews with biology teachers and observations of student needs. It was found that the use of LKPD is still rare, some have never used it, and the existing LKPD is not project-based. Therefore, LKPD is needed that can increase student creativity through project activities. The purpose of this study was to develop the LKPD, assess its feasibility (by material experts, learning experts, and design experts), and evaluate teacher and student responses, as well as its effectiveness on learning outcomes and student creativity. The development model used is the 4D model (Define, Design, Develop, Disseminate). LKPD is designed according to the needs of students and prepared based on LKPD preparation guidelines. The feasibility of LKPD was tested by material experts (87.14%), learning experts (97.33%), and design experts (77.33%) with very feasible and feasible categories. Teacher (97.33%) and student (92.96%) responses were also very positive. The LKPD was then tested on the experimental class X-A. Effectiveness was tested through pretest and posttest results which showed significant differences between experimental and control classes.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the feasibility and effectiveness of a booklet on amphibian species diversity in the Silahisabungan Geosite as a teaching material for biodiversity topics. The research employed a Research and Development (R&D) method using the 4D model, which consists of the Define, Design, Develop, and Disseminate stages. The feasibility of the booklet was evaluated based on expert validation, teacher responses, and student responses, while its effectiveness was assessed through improvements in students’ learning outcomes. Data were collected through interviews, needs analysis questionnaires, booklet validation questionnaires, teacher and student response questionnaires, and cognitive learning achievement tests. The results of the study indicate that: (1) the booklet validation results were categorized as good to very good, with scores of 79.4 from the content expert, 96 from the instructional design expert, and 94 from the graphic design expert; (2) teacher responses were very positive with a score of 96.8, while student responses in individual, small-group, and large-group trials obtained scores of 97.2, 96.2, and 93.75, respectively; (3) the effectiveness test conducted on 27 students showed an N-Gain value of 0.74, classified as high; and (4) the t-test revealed a significant difference between pretest and posttest scores (t = 6.213; p < 0.05). Therefore, the developed booklet is effective in improving students’ cognitive knowledge and is feasible for use as a supplementary teaching material in biodiversity learning.
