Hipertensi merupakan penyakit kronis yang menyerang lebih dari satu miliar orang di dunia, menurut Riset Kesehatan Dasar (RISKESDAS) angka penyakit kronis hipertensi terus meningkat di Indonesia. Penyedia layanan kesehatan gigi berperan signifikan dalam menangani pasien hipertensi karena adanya interaksi antara obat antihipertensi dan obat yang digunakan dalam perawatan gigi. Studi ini membahas tentang penanganan pasien hipertensi dalam praktik kedokteran gigi. Seorang perempuan berusia 51 tahun berobat ke Rumah Sakit Gigi Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta (RSGM UMY) selama dua tahun karena rasa tidak nyaman, terutama ketika mengunyah di sisi kiri. Meskipun pasien tersebut memiliki gigi palsu, ini adalah kunjungan pemeriksaan gigi pertamanya. Pasien alergi terhadap udang dan didiagnosis hipertensi setahun lalu, tetapi tidak menjalani pengobatan. Terdapat riwayat hipertensi dalam keluarganya, dan setelah pemeriksaan menyeluruh, beberapa perawatan gigi dilakukan. Tes laboratorium menunjukkan HDL pasien adalah 49 mg/dL (di bawah normal), sedangkan kolesterol total, LDL, dan trigliserida normal. HDL rendah dan trigliserida tinggi sering kali berkorelasi dengan tekanan darah tinggi. Pemeriksaan menyeluruh terhadap pasien hipertensi sangat penting untuk mencegah komplikasi dalam perawatan gigi.

ABSTRAK Praktik kebersihan mulut yang efektif dan teknik menyikat gigi yang baik sangat diperlukan untuk mencegah penyakit gigi seperti karies dan masalah periodontal. Pimpinan Cabang Istimewa Aisyiah (PCIA) Jepang, dikenal sebagai organisasi utama yang berkomitmen untuk melayani komunitas wanita Muslim Indonesia di Jepang, memiliki potensi besar untuk mengkatalisasi peningkatan transformatif dalam kesehatan komunitas Muslim. Mengakui tantangan dan masalah yang dihadapi komunitas Muslim di Jepang, ada peluang signifikan untuk membuat dampak yang berarti melalui program layanan masyarakat yang berfokus pada pendidikan kesehatan Islam. Inisiatif pendidikan kesehatan masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk membekali komunitas Muslim dengan pengetahuan dan kesadaran yang komprehensif mengenai pentingnya pemeliharaan kesehatan dalam kerangka nilai-nilai Islam, terutama untuk mendidik praktik kebersihan mulut komunitas Muslim PCIA Jepang. Kegiatan ini melibatkan 11 peserta dari komunitas Muslim PCIA Jepang. Intervensi pendidikan diberikan melalui pertemuan daring Zoom untuk memfasilitasi partisipasi dari individu di berbagai lokasi geografis. Sebelum dimulainya sesi, peserta terlibat dalam tes awal yang terdiri dari lima pertanyaan yang relevan dengan teknik menyikat gigi yang benar, diikuti dengan tes akhir setelah sesi berakhir. Inisiatif pendidikan kesehatan ini akan mencakup berbagai aspek, termasuk gaya hidup sehat, menjaga kebersihan mulut, dan teknik menyikat gigi sesuai dengan prinsip Islam. Peningkatan pengetahuan peserta tentang menjaga kebersihan mulut telah diamati pasca-konseling. Hasil menunjukkan peningkatan pengetahuan setelah mendapatkan pendidikan. Kata kunci: Kebersihan mulut;edukasi kesehatan; literasi kesehatan. ABSTRACTEffective oral hygiene and brushing techniques are crucial for preventing dental diseases. Pimpinan Cabang Istimewa Aisyiah (PCIA) Japan, a prominent organization serving Indonesian Muslim women, has the potential to significantly improve Muslim health through community service programs focused on Islamic health education. Recognizing the challenges faced by Muslims in Japan, there is a key opportunity to positively impact health through education initiatives. This public health education initiative aims to equip the Muslim community with comprehensive knowledge and awareness regarding the importance of health maintenance within the framework of Islamic values, with a focus on educating the Muslim community of PCIA Japan on oral hygiene practices. This activity involved 11 participants from PCIA Japan. The program was conducted via Zoom, allowing participation from various locations. Participants completed a pre-test with five questions on toothbrushing before the session, followed by a post-test. The initiative focused on promoting healthy lifestyles, oral hygiene, and Islamic-guided brushing techniques. Following education, participants' knowledge of oral hygiene improved, demonstrating the program’s effectiveness. Keywords: oral hygiene; health education; health literacy

Background: Oral mucosa is the first gate of food and water to enter the body. This area, including the lips, is more frequent in contact with various food substances containing flavoring agents; therefore, it is very susceptible to allergy-related stomatitis. This study aims to report the case of allergy-related stomatitis due to food intake.Case: We present a case report of 31 year-old-woman complaining of an uncomfortable and burning sensation in the tongue, hard palate, and lips. The clinical examination showed an erythematous lesion along the mucosal lip. The history revealed that the patient had an atopic allergy to seafood and cold air. She reported that three days before she visited the dentist, she ate seafood with very spicy seasoning. According to the complete blood test, it was revealed that eosinophil and total IgE were high. We diagnose allergy-related stomatitis based on the history, clinical features, and blood test examination. The patient was advised not to eat seafood or spicy food and eliminate the precipitating factors Conclusion: Diagnosis of allergy-related stomatitis can be obtained by anamnesis, clinical examination, and other laboratory testing.

Latar Belakang: Kesehatan gigi dan mulut merupakan bagian integral dari kesehatan umum yang berperan penting dalam kualitas hidup. Rendahnya pengetahuan masyarakat, termasuk kader kesehatan, masih menjadi faktor utama yang berkontribusi terhadap tingginya angka masalah kesehatan gigi di Indonesia. Edukasi kesehatan berbasis komunitas menjadi strategi efektif dalam meningkatkan literasi dan kesadaran masyarakat terhadap pentingnya menjaga kebersihan rongga mulut. Tujuan: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh edukasi kesehatan gigi dan mulut terhadap peningkatan pengetahuan kader Muhammadiyah/Aisyiyah di Bantar, Kulon Progo. Metode: Penelitian menggunakan desain one group pretest–posttest dengan pendekatan pre-eksperimental. Sampel terdiri atas 30 kader Muhammadiyah/Aisyiyah yang mengikuti kegiatan edukasi kesehatan gigi dan mulut. Instrumen penelitian berupa kuesioner berisi lima pertanyaan pilihan ganda yang diberikan sebelum dan sesudah edukasi. Data dianalisis menggunakan Paired t-test dengan tingkat signifikansi p < 0,05. Hasil: Terdapat peningkatan skor rata-rata pengetahuan peserta dari 78.79 ± 18.31 pada pretest menjadi 92.12 ± 14.31 pada posttest. Paired t-test menunjukkan adanya perbedaan yang signifikan antara nilai pretest dan posttest (t = 4.74, p < 0,001), menunjukkan bahwa edukasi berpengaruh positif terhadap peningkatan pengetahuan kader. Simpulan: Edukasi kesehatan gigi dan mulut terbukti efektif dalam meningkatkan pengetahuan kader Muhammadiyah/Aisyiyah di Bantar, Kulon Progo. Kegiatan edukasi serupa perlu dilaksanakan secara berkelanjutan untuk mendukung peningkatan perilaku kesehatan masyarakat.

Steam explosion pretreatment is widely used to facilitate the production of cellulose nanofibers (CNFs) from lignocellulosic biomass; however, the influence of pretreatment severity on the performance of CNF-reinforced polylactic acid (PLA) composites remains insufficiently understood. This study investigated the effect of steam explosion pressures of 35 and 40 atm on the mechanical, thermal, and morphological properties of CNF/PLA composites prepared from oil palm empty fruit bunches (EFB). CNFs were produced by steam explosion followed by mechanical fibrillation and incorporated into a PLA matrix at a 1:1 dry weight ratio. The composite prepared using 35 atm exhibited superior mechanical performance, with a tensile strength of 9.22 ± 0.01 MPa and a Young's modulus of 2.26 ± 0.12 GPa. Increasing the pretreatment pressure to 40 atm slightly delayed the onset of thermal degradation and reduced the cold crystallization temperature, suggesting enhanced heterogeneous nucleation during heating. However, the higher pressure also reduced tensile properties and significantly decreased the residual char content, indicating more extensive removal of lignin and possible hornification and partial cellulose depolymerization. These results demonstrate a trade-off between mechanical reinforcement and thermal performance as pretreatment severity increases. Overall, a steam explosion pressure of 35 atm provided the most balanced combination of mechanical and thermal properties, offering useful guidance for optimizing CNF-reinforced PLA biocomposites derived from oil palm biomass.
