Abstract

Metilasi CpG island atau hipermetilasi pada promoter gen adalah penambahan gugus metil pada basa sitosin yang mendahului basa guanin yang menyebabkan penurunan ekspresi Tumor Supressor Gen (TSG) sehingga menimbulkan kejadian kanker. DAPK adalahSerin-Treonin kinase yang tergantung pada Calsium atau Calmodulin yang berpartisipasi dalam berbagai jalur signal kehidupan, autofagi dan apoptosis. Pada kasus Leukemia Limfoblastik Akut (LLA) terdapat metilasi CpG island gen DAPK. Meskipun :frekuensinya tidak tinggi, tetapi hal ini menunjukkan adanya keterlibatan proses epigenetik (DNA metilasi) dalam proses perkembangan terbentuknya leukemia.

Abstract

Nanotechnology has been developing in the medical field, but some nanoparticles have toxic effects on the body, including the spleen. This scoping review represents an attempt to take stock of existing research results related to the presence or absence of toxicity to the spleen caused by nanoparticles involving experimental animals. A scoping review was conducted to synthesize and map the toxicity of nanoparticles. It has been searched on PubMed databases for spleen or lien and toxic or toxicity, and nanoparticles or dendrimers or "metal nanoparticles" or “magnetite nanoparticles” or nanoshells or “multifunctional nanoparticles” or nanocapsules or nanoconjugates or nanodiamonds or nanogels or nanospheres. Seventeen studies met our inclusion criteria. In conclusion, it showed that 13 nanoparticles could cause toxicity in rodent spleen and as many as 4 nanoparticles did not cause toxicity in rodent spleen.

Abstract

Diabetes Mellitus (DM) can damage various organs, which are the pancreas and the testes, which cause infertility. Therefore, alternative treatment is needed, including cassava (Manihot Esculenta) which contains polyphenol antioxidants that can reduce free radicals caused by hyperglycemia. The objectives of the study were to determine the effect of cassava consumption on the histological pancreas and testes of Wistar rats induced with streptozotocin. This study was an experimental study posttest only control group design. Experimental animals were divided into four treatment groups, namely healthy controls (K1), DM aqua dest (K2), DM metformin (K3), and DM cassava (K4). The treatment was given after successful DM induction. The histology of the pancreas was the area of the islets of Langerhans. The histology of the testes was the thickness of the seminiferous tubule epithelium. The analysis used a one-way ANOVA test. The average area of Langerhans Island, respectively, namely 6482,95±117.71 m2, 2597.49±137.25 m2, 2746.93± 172.07 m2, and 3307.00 ± 368.51 m2 (p-value = 0.000). The mean epithelial thickness of the seminiferous tubules was 19.62±1.12 m, 15.59 ±0.46m, 17.05±1.42m, and 18.09±0.52m (K4) (p-value = 0.000). In conclusion, the consumption of cassava extract (Manihot esculenta) can improve the histological picture of the pancreas and increase the thickness of the seminiferous tubule. Abstrak: Diabetes Mellitus (DM) dapat merusak berbagai organ yaitu pankreas dan testis yang menyebabkan kemandulan. Oleh karena itu, diperlukan pengobatan alternatif antara lain ubi kayu (Manihot Esculenta) yang mengandung antioksidan polifenol yang dapat meredam radikal bebas akibat hiperglikemia. Tujuan penelitian adalah untuk mengetahui pengaruh konsumsi singkong terhadap gambaran histologi pankreas dan testis tikus Wistar yang diinduksi dengan streptozotocin. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian eksperimental post-test only control group design. Hewan coba dibagi menjadi empat kelompok perlakuan yaitu kontrol sehat (K1), DM aqua dest (K2), DM metformin (K3), dan DM singkong (K4). Perlakuan diberikan setelah induksi DM berhasil. Histologi pankreas yang akan diamati adalah area pulau Langerhans. Histologi testis adalah ketebalan epitel tubulus seminiferus. Analisis menggunakan uji one way ANOVA. Rata-rata luas Pulau Langerhans berturut-turut yaitu 6482,95±117,71 m2, 2597,49±137,25 m2, 2746,93 m2±172,07, dan 3307,00m2±368,51 (p-value = 0,000). Ketebalan epitel rata-rata tubulus seminiferus adalah 19.62±1.12m, 15.59±0.46 m, 17.05±1.42m, and 18.09±0.52 m (K4) (p-value = 0,000). Kesimpulannya, konsumsi ekstrak singkong (Manihot esculenta) dapat memperbaiki gambaran histologis pankreas dan meningkatkan ketebalan epitel tubulus seminiferus.

Abstract

BackgroundHyperglycemia interrupts wound healing, causing persistent and non-healing wounds. Phaleria macrocarpa extract (PME) has anti-diabetic, anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, and antioxidant properties. This study aimed to assess P. macrocarpa activity on skin wound healing in diabetic rats. MethodsAn experimental study performed on 25 male Wistar rats. Ointments were prepared by adding vehicle (w/w) to PME at the desired concentration. Diabetes was induced by injecting rats with nicotinamide (NAD) 230 mg/kg and streptozotocin (STZ) 65 mg/kg. After hyperglycemia was confirmed, animals were randomly grouped into: i) normal rats, ii) diabetic rats; iii) diabetic rats + 2.5% ointment; iv) diabetic rats +5% ointment; and v) diabetic rats +10% ointment. Full-thickness skin wounds were induced on the dorsum and treatment was applied daily for 3 and 7 days, respectively. On days 4 and 8, wound closure was measured and animals were sacrificed for tissue samples. Wound healing was evaluated by measuring malondialdehyde (MDA) in tissue homogenates of the dermal wounds and analyzing histological changes by hematoxylin-eosin and Sirius-red staining. ResultsPME 10% ointment improved MDA levels and wound closure of inflammatory and proliferation phases. In inflammatory phase, 5% and 10% ointment reduced inflammation severity compared with diabetic rat group (p<0.05). In proliferation phase, PME 10% ointment group had a higher wound histological score (characterized by epidermal regeneration, fibroblast count, granulation tissue, and angiogenesis), and higher collagen bundle density compared with untreated groups (p<0.05).  ConclusionsTopical P. macrocarpa improves inflammatory and proliferation phases of excision wound healing in type 2 diabetes.

Abstract

Perawatan jenazah sesuai syariat islam bagi jenazah yang beragama islam diperlukan. Ibadah yang sesuai ilmu mendatangkan pahala, memberi ketenangan dan membantu masyarakat. Hasil pengamatan dan observasi menunjukkan masih ditemukan kondisi dimana perawatan jenazah belum sesuai syariat dan pemandian jenazah yang terbuka di padukuhan Babadan Wedomartani Ngemplak Sleman. Pengabdian masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan pengetahuan dan sikap masyarakat terhadap perawatan jenazah serta penyediaan penutup jenazah. Metode yang dilakukan adalah koordinasi dengan warga dan pakar di bidang perawatan jenazah, dilanjutkan pelatihan dan praktek perawatan jenazah, tanya jawab setelah sesi penjelasan dan praktek, serta wawancara kepada beberapa warga dilakukan untuk evaluasi kegiatan. Warga jamaah masjid Al Ittihad Babadan yang mengikuti kegiatan pelatihan menyampaikan bahwa kegiatan pelatihan perawatan jenazah ini dirasakan sangat bermanfaat dan meningkatkan pemahaman masyarakat terkait perawatan jenazah secara islam. Selain itu Hasil survey kepuasan penyelenggaraan pelatihan menunjukkan 93,1% warga merasa puas dan 6,9% cukup puas
