Abstract

First-year university students experienced various demands and problems, such as developmental tasks, role transition processes, academic’s demands, and anxieties. To be more resilient when facing those demands and problems, increasing quality and quantity of social connection are needed; therefore, they need social intelligence. This research examined the role of social intelligence on resilience. 177 college freshmen in Jakarta were chosen with incidental sampling technique. This study used adaptation of Tromso Social Intelligence Scale to measure social intelligence and adaptation of Connor Davidson – Resilience Indicator Scale to measure resilience. Simple regression analysis shows that social intelligence contributes in about 16% on resilience. Multiple regression analysis shows that  Social Information Processing has the most significant role among other dimensions of social intelligence. This dimension describes the ability to understanding various (social) messages in social environment. Thus, social intelligence development is imperative for enhancing the resilience of first year students in the university.

Abstract

The purpose of thi study is to examine whether self-compassion can predict the level of health-related quality of life (HRQoL) among adolescents who live in foster care. The study used quantitative method with cross-sectional design. The sample were 140 teenagers recruited using convenience sampling technique from several foster care in Bekasi and Jakarta. Self Compassion Scale (SCSC) and KIDSCREEN-27 instrument were used to measure the level of self-compassion and HRQoL. Regression test was found that the influence of self-compassion toward HRQoL is significant on the dimension of physical wellbeing, psychological wellbeing, parent relations and autonomy, and school environment. However, self-compassion did not have significant influence toward health-related quality of life on the dimension of social support and peers. The role of self-compassion toward HRQoL implied that adolescents living at foster care need to develop a compassionate attitude for theirself in order to achieve better HRQoL.

Abstract

 This study aims to determine the role of gratitude on psychological resilience of adolescents who live in youth social care institutions (orphanages). The study was conducted using a quantitative cross-sectional design. The population of the study was adolescents who lived at youth social care institutions in Jakarta and Bekasi. Two hundred samples were obtained by convenience sampling. The researcher used the Indonesian version of gratitude scale and an adapted resilience scale as measurement tools. Regression analysis found that gratitude explains 13.1 percent variance of adolescences’ psychological resilience. The role of gratitude toward psychological resilience is positive, indicating that higher gratitude reflect higher resilience. Therefore, gratitude needs to be considered in the development of resilience program for adolescents living in youth social care institutions. Keywords: adolescence, gratitude, orphanages, resilience, social care.

Abstract

Dalam proses pencarian jati dirinya, para remaja membutuhkan adanya pengetahuan mengenai diri sendiri, meliputi pemahaman mengenai kekuatan yang dimilikinya dan bagaimana cara untuk mengoptimalkan serta memanfaatkan kekuatan yang dimiliki bagi pengembangan dirinya. Oleh karena itu perlu dilakukan adanya pelatihan pengembangan diri yang bertujuan agar remaja menjadi lebih sadar, mengenali, dan menerima dirinya untuk kemudian menguatkan potensi yang dimiliki di masa depan. Program SADARI (Sadar dan Kenali Diri) adalah program pelatihan komunitas yang dirancang dengan menggunakan metode ceramah, diskusi, introspeksi, dan pengungkapan diri serta dilakukan dengan pendekatan psikologi positif.  Dalam pelaksanaannya, pengusul bekerjasama dengan Foraja (Forum Remaja) Kelurahan Cempaka Putih Barat, Jakarta Pusat dan RPTRA Mardani Asri. Hasil evaluasi program menunjukkan bahwa semua indikator pencapaian berhasil tercapai. Saran dan masukan untuk program ke depannya juga disertakan di dalam artikel ini.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to describe the profile and level of psychological resilience of adolescents living at social shelter.  This research is using quantitative, cross-sectional design, descriptive approach and the population is adolescents who live at social shelter in Jakarta and Bekasi. Due to the explorative nature of this study and lack of the acurate data about total amount the teenagers, the sample of this research is taken by using convenience sampling technique across 12 Social Shelter in Jakarta and Bekasi. The sample of the study is 200 Adolescents. Adapted scale of resilience by Connor – Davidson was used for measure resilience level and descriptive statistic was used for the analysis. The result of this research found that 46.5% of participants have high resilience and 52.5% has moderate level of resilience. Whereas, only 1% who has low level of resiliences. Based on the analysis from each dimension, the highest dimension of resilience is in the domain of “Personal Competence” and the lowest one is on “Tolerance of Negative Affect”. This result implied that to developing resilience program for adolescents at social shelter, it is needed to help them develop their ability to overcome the negative affect.

Abstract

Remaja perlu meningkatkan rasa kesadaran yang dimiliki sehingga ia dapat menjalani dan menerima berbagai perubahan dirinya. Mindfulness didefinisikan sebagai kemampuan untuk memberi atensi atau perhatian terhadap diri secara apa adanya tanpa memberikan penilaian serta menerima segala pengalaman yang muncul saat ini. Program pengabdian masyarakat dirancang untuk mengajarkan remaja mengenai mindfulness dalam bentuk pelatihan di dalam kelompok yang diselenggarakan di sekolah. Pelatihan bertujuan untuk membantu remaja menjadi lebih sadar dan perhatian terhadap diri dan perasaannya saat ini melalui materi tentang mindfulness dengan menyertakan latihan teknik-teknik sederhana dalam mindfulness. Partisipan adalah 30 orang remaja yang ada di sebuah SMP yang ada di wilayah Jakarta Pusat. Hasil evaluasi menunjukkan adanya peningkatan rasa kesadaran pada remaja yang terlihat dari pengukuran melalui kuesioner yang diisi saat tahapan sebelum pelatihan, sesudah pelatihan, dan tindak lanjut. Hasil ini mengindikasikan bahwa pelatihan teknik mindfulness yang diselenggarakan di sekolah mampu untuk meningkatkan kualitas kesadaran remaja.

Abstract

Training of gratitude is expected to grow these factors. Being grateful can lead to positive emotions that may create acceptance the conditions of self and positive social relationships. This training program was conducted for a full day, including induction and release of negative emotions, lesson about gratitude, mutual influence, contemplation, and pouring a sense of gratitude in writing. Training is given to 37 students of class X at SMKN 31 Jakarta. Pre and post test was conducted before and after training, using VAS (Visual Analog Scale) and PANAS (Positive affect-negative affect schedule). The effect of the training was analyzed by counting the change of mean from pre to post test score for each scale. The result showed that there are an increased of positive emotion score means after the training, from 6.92 to 7.41 for VAS and from 3.53 to 3.81 for PANAS score. Then it may concluded that the gratitude training program improve the positive emotion of the students.

Abstract

Remaja yang tinggal di panti asuhan lebih rentan mengalami masalah dalam kualitas hidup terkait kesehatan. Namun demikian, terdapat pula mereka yang memandang kehidupannya sebagai pengalaman yang positif. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui bagaimana peran kebersyukuran sebagai faktor pelindung terhadap kualitas hidup kesehatan pada remaja di panti asuhan. Sampel dalam penelitian ini adalah 200 remaja panti asuhan yang diambil dengan menggunakan teknik incidental sampling. Penelitian ini menggunakan alat ukur kebersyukuran versi Indonesia dan adaptasi skala kualitas hidup kesehatan. Hasil uji regresi menemukan bahwa kebersyukuran berperan terhadap kualitas hidup kesehatan pada dimensi kesejahteraan psikologis serta dukungan sosial dan teman sebaya. Akan tetapi, kebersyukuran tidak berperan terhadap kualitas hidup kesehatan dimensi kesejahteraan fisik, hubungan orang tua dan kemandirian serta lingkungan sekolah. Hasil penelitian ini diharapkan dapat menjadi sumber referensi mengenai pentingnya pengembangan kebersyukuran dalam rangka peningkatan kualitas hidup kesehatan pada remaja yang tinggal di panti asuhan, khususnya dalam aspek kesejahteraan psikologis dan dukungan sosial serta teman sebaya.

Abstract

Compared to other cities in Indonesia, DKI Jakarta, as one of the largest urban areas, is ranked quite high in divorce rates. It is known that parental divorce has several impacts on children. For example, adolescents with divorced parents have a greater risk of various psychological problems. Previous studies have shown that gratitude enhances positivity and optimism, and it also helps individuals through difficult times, including parental divorce. This non-experimental study aims to determine the role of gratitude in resilience among adolescents (12 – 21 years old) based in the Jakarta metropolitan area (Jabodetabek), whose parents are divorced. Non-probability sampling was used to recruit the participants (n = 109). The measurements used in this study are the Connor-Davidson Resilience Scale (α = 0.896) and Gratitude Scale Indonesian Version (Skala Bersyukur Versi Indonesia (SBI)) (α = 0.896). Simple linear regression showed that gratitude plays a significant role in a participant’s resilience (p < 0.05). Further, 28.9% of the variance in resilience can be explained by gratitude. These findings highlight the importance of gratitude interventions to enhance resilience among adolescents with divorced parents.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk melihat hubungan antara kebersyukuran, kesepian, dan kondisi kesehatan mental pada mahasiswa di masa pandemi. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kuantitatif dengan dengan teknik analisis uji korelasi.  Teknik sampling yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah convenience sampling. Instrumen yang digunakan adalah adaptasi DASS-21 untuk mengukur distres psikologis, skala kebersyukuran untuk mengukur rasa syukur, dan adaptasi skala UCLA-3 Loneliness Scale untuk mengukur kesepian. Hasil analisis menunjukkan bahwa kebersyukuran berkorelasi negatif dan signifikan dengan distres psikologis (depresi, kecemasan, dan stres) maupun kesepian pada mahasiswa. Hal ini mengindikasikan bahwa semakin tinggi kebersyukuran yang dimiliki oleh mahasiswa, maka semakin rendah gejala depresi, stres, kecemasan, dan kesepian yang dialami. Hasil penelitian ini diharapkan dapat sebagai acuan untuk tenaga pendidik untuk memberikan sosialisasi, pendampingan, dan penurunan beban perkuliahan kepada responden sehingga diharapkan mampu menjaga stabilitas emosi mahasiswa mampu terkendali.
