Corrosion is the main causes of construction failure of a bridge. Isolating the metal from corrosion substances is the most effective way to prevent corrosion in this construction. The usage of natural corrosion inhibitor is an alternative way to achieve that goal. Natural substance is chosen as an alternative because it is safe and widely available, biodegradable, low cost, and environmentally friendly. This work was conducted to study the inhibition behavior of water hyacinth extract. Chemical compounds in water hyacinth are cellulose and lignin. Lignin is an oxidation agent. This work use carbon steel SS400 and the effect of water hyacinth extract to the corrosion was studied. The works were conducted in liquid base and liquid acid with the variable of inhibitor concentration. Analysis was conducted by using weigh loss method and in base liquid the best concentration was 0.20 M as 0.0020 mpy and in acid liquid as 0.0047 mpy.The decrease occur because the extract works by forming thin layer (investigated on SEM analysis) or complex compound, which adsorb on metal surface as protection layer which can prevent the reaction of metal with its environment.

Perlunya pendekatan matematis dan simulasi model dalam penelitian yang berbasis laboratorium dapat mengurangi biaya dan resiko kesalahan lain saat pengujian di lakukan. Selain itu, hasil simulasi dapat dijadikan pedoman untuk menentukan keputusan pada langkah yang akan diterapkan kemudian dalam penelitian.Pada penelitian reaksi pirolisis minyak nyamplung dalam menghasilkan biofue sebagai bahan bakar (energi) alternatifl, diterapkan beberapa asumsi yang dikembangkan dan kemudian dibentuk suatu model matematika kinetika pada reaksi tersebut. Minyak nyamplung (Cny) dalam proses produksinya menghasilkan minyak produksi (Cp)dan gas buang/coke (Cg). Hasil analisis model tersebut diperoleh titik ekuilbrium produksi E??(Cny?,Cp?,Cg?). Boiler terdiri dari vessel yang tertutup pada ujung pangkalnya dan dilengkapi dengan pipa api dan pipa air sebagai media pertukaran kalor dari tinggi ke rendah dan menghasilkan uap bertekanan pada proses selanjutnya untuk memproduksi uap dengan temperature dan tekanan tertentu. Uap yang dihasilkan oleh boiler pada uap saturated digunakan sebagai fluida kerja pemanas dan proses fraksinasi. Tujuan dilakukannya penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui besar efisiensi energi dari boiler dan besar laju perpindahan panas yang terjadi pada furnance dari boiler serta mengetahui besar efisiensi exergi dan rugi exergi dari boiler wanson 1 tipe fire tube. Metode penelitian ini adalah analisa secara matematis menggunakan persamaan umum perpindahan panas dan exergi untuk menghitung besar efisiensi dan kerugian exergy. Pada furnance terjadi perpindahan panas secara radiasi sebesar 1942,40 kWatt, konduksi 1942,40 kWatt, konveksi 12448,41 kWatt sementara perpindahan panas yang terjadi pada pipa-pipa api boiler ada sebesar 160,58 kWatt secara radiasi, 160,58 kWatt secara konduksi dan 101.46kWatt. Dari hasil ini diketahui penumpukan kalor terjadi pada proses perpindahan panas secara konveksi. Sementara efisiensi dari boiler berdasarkan perhitungan langsung dan tidak langsung adalah sebesar 70% dan 82%. Sementara dari hasil analisis exergi dihasilkan rugi exergi kombusternya 1148.1627 kJ/s, efisiensi eksergi kombusternya 22.88% kerugian dan efisiensi dari heat exchanger adalah 672.126 kJ/s dan 44.21% sementara kerugian dan efisiensi dari boiler keseluruhan adalah 1820.286 kJ/s dan 13.29%. Dapat disimpulkan bahwa boiler wanson 1 dalam keadaan baik karena memiliki efisien yang masih tinggi yaitu sebesar 70% dan 82% yang dihitung berdasarkan analisa matematis secara langsung dan tidak langsung menggunakan neraca panas namun pada furnance boiler terjadi penumpukan kalor sebesar 59.12 kWatt. Sedangkan analisa exergi didapat efisien dari boiler sebesar13.29%.

This research was conducted to find the ideal current and time used during the plating process, because in every industry the most frequent problems are the thickness that coats the material and the corrosion rate of the material that causes the material to become damaged or no good. This study uses SGD400 carbon steel and zinc as a coating. The research was carried out on a tank containing various kinds of chemical liquids and using electric current as conductivity for the coating media. Analysis using layer thickness measurement using vernier caliper measuring instrument and weight loss method. The results obtained from searching the current and the ideal time using a current of 900 A and a time of 60 minutes is 0.015 mm or 15 μm thick and the SST test (Salt Spray Test) at 72 hours No White Rust and 168 Hours No Red Rust. And good coating results can be seen in microstructure testing using keyence microscope media

Surface roughness of a product plays an important role, especially for materials such as SUS 304 steel which is now widely used in a variety of industrial needs. Determination of the turning parameters or the appropriate type of cooling fluids are very important to obtain the desired surface roughness. The aim of the study was to determine the ideal value of feeding (f) and the ideal type of cooling fluids in the turning process of SUS 304 steel. The feedrate parameters used were 0.11 mm/rev, 0.15 mm/rev, and 0.19 mm/rev, whereas the types of cooling fluids used are Fumio Lube Fumicool 794 soluble oil and Suncut 16S lubricant oil. Surface roughness results are obtained through testing using a surface roughness measuring instrument. From the predetermined parameters were obtained the smallest roughness value on the feedrate was 0.11 mm/rev using Suncut 16S lubricant oil with a result of 0.770 µm, while the largest roughness value on the feedrate was 0.19 mm/rev using Fumio Lube Fumicool 794 soluble oil with a result of 3.942µm.

Research has been conducted on the analysis of corrosion rate of zinc electroplating on AISI1045 steel in a corrosive medium of 3.5% NaCl and 5% NaCl. The electroplating time variationused is 5 minutes, 10 minutes, and 15 minutes. Corrosion rate was carried out by soaking steelfor 174 hours in NaCl medium and calculated by weight loss method. The ideal time in the Znelectroplating process is 10 minutes in 3.5% NaCl solution with a weight reduction of 0.023grams and a corrosion rate of 1.670723071 mpy, while in the Zn electroplating process for 15minutes in a 5% NaCl solution the weight reduction is 0.033 grams and the corrosion rate is2,386747245 mpy. The test results on microstructure using a metallurgical microscope can beconcluded that AISI 1045 steel without electroplating is easily exposed to corrosion comparedto the Zn electroplating process.

AISI 1045 carbon steel is being used as the main raw material vehicle engine components such asshafts, spur gears, pistons and connecting rods. Spur gear is one component that experiences themost wear and tear caused by the properties of hardness and wear resistance are poor. The impactof the spur gear wear becomes damaged and does not function normally. To minimize wear of thenecessary process of hardening heat treatment at a temperature of 845ËšC was detained for 60minutes, then quenching with brine and continued with the process of austempering at 295ËšCtemperature variation, 330ËšC, and 365ËšC and the holding time 30 minutes, 60 minutes and 90minutes. Use the specimen 1 which is raw material of AISI 1045 steel as the compare resultswithout heat treatment. Tests conducted is hardness test, test microstructure and wear-resistanttest. The test results showed increased to 200 HB hardness of HB 182 initially, rose by 9.89% onthe specimen number 3. Testing of wear showed the lowest yield value of 5.5643747 abradedmaterial volume mm3 / mm and a specific wear value of 0.006603292 mm2 / Kg in the specimenNo. 3. Changes occur on the microstructure of ferrite and perlite into martensite and bainitemicrostructure after heat treatment in this study.

Welding techniques have been used extensively in the construction field because welding techniques are a simpler method in the process of connecting steel than using bolts or rivets. Factors that influence the quality of welding results include distance of the seam. The seam distance can affect the increase in heat input value because the wider the seam distance the more filler metal will be used. The purpose of this study was to determine how the effect of variations in the distance of the seam to the mechanical properties of SS400 steel welding material using the GMAW method. SS400 steel welding welding position 2G with variations in the root gap distance of 0 mm, 2 mm and 4 mm using the GMAW method with a type of protective gas 82% Ar + 18% CO2 and ESAB ER70S-6 type welding wire. Single v butt joint type with a seam angle of 60o and 12 mm thick material. In this study several tests were conducted including distortion testing, non-destructive test, tensile, chemical composition, hardness and microstructure observation. The highest distortion test results obtained at a root gap of 4 mm seam, non-destructive test results showed no welding defects in the upper surface of the weld, the optimal tensile testing results were obtained on a sample root gap of 2 mm with a tensile strength value of 413 MPa and fractures that occurred in the base area metal. The highest hardness test results were obtained at a sample root gap of 0 mm ap with a value of 235 HV and the lowest hardness obtained at a root gap of 4 mm with a value of 209 HV.

Electroless plating merupakan pelapisan tanpa listrik proses ini merupakan tahap akhir dengan meningkatkan sifat seperti daya tahan korosi, daya temperatur tinggi. Temperatur yang di gunakan dalam proses electroless plating nikel 95°C sehingga mengakibatkan tangki cepat terplating sehingga konsentrasi nikel cepat menurun. Penelitian ini bertujuan mengetahui temperatur dan waktu pelapisan yang ideal untuk mendapatkan hasil ketebalan dan kekerasan yang standar. Sehingga penelitian ini bisa mengurangi tangki terplating dan memerpanjang umur konsentrasi nikel. Proses penelitian electroless plating ini menggunakan temperatur 80°C, 85°C, dan 90°C dengan variasi waktu 30 menit, 40 menit, dan 50 menit. Analisis menggunakan pengukuran ketebalan lapisan menggunakan Mesin X-Ray dan pengukuran kekerasan lapisan plating menggunakan Mesin Hardness vickers. Hasil yang di dapat dari pencarian temperatur dan waktu yang ideal dengan menggunakan temperatur 85°C dan waktu 30 menit yaitu dengan tebal 0,008 mm atau 8 µm dan di panaskan dengan suhu 330°C dengan waktu konstan 60 menit yaitu dengan kekerasan 800 HV. Dan hasil ketebalan lapisan yang baik dapat dilihat pada pengujian struktur micro dengan menggunakan media mikroskop keyence.

Plastics are synthetic polymer compounds formed from the polymerization of small molecules(monomers) composed of hydrocarbon bonds. The use of plastic waste as a material to produce fueloil is an alternative that can increase the economic value of plastic waste, besides that it can alsosolve one of the environmental problems. This study aims to analyze the characteristics of fuel oilproduced from plastic waste type High Density Poly Ethylene (HDPE) with the pyrolysis process. Theresearch methodology variables include; the pyrolysis time was 120 minutes and the pyrolysistemperatures were 390oC, 410oC, 430oC, and 450oC. The test of the pyrolysis oil is based on theflash point. Furthermore, the calculation of the reaction kinetics using the Arrhenius Equationmethod. The optimum temperature for HDPE plastic pyrolysis is at a temperature of 450°C with aconversion efficiency of 59.3% wt. The value of the reaction rate constant obtained is k = 7.3 x 109 .e(117.013/R.T).
