Abstract

Critical thinking skills are one of the most important 21st century skills for students, and the fact that students' abilities are lacking due to their involvement in the classroom is critical thinking skills. The purpose of this research is to prove that teaching mathematics concepts in STEM schools has or does not have an effect on the critical thinking skills of elementary school students. This research is qualitative with a quasi-experimental type. This study involved 20 Grade V students at SDIT An-Nujaba' Mataran who were included as a sample selected by the saturated sampling technique, the instrument used in this study was a critical thinking ability test. The analysis technique uses the t-test (paired sample t-test). The results of this study indicate that there is a p-value = 0.000 which indicates a significant difference before and after the application of STEM-based mathematics learning. The findings of this study indicate that, with the support of STEM mathematics education, students' critical thinking skills have a significant effect. The research of STEM-based learning in critical thinking skills.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to describe the creativity of mathematics teachers in designing learning during the covid-19 pandemic. This research is a qualitative research with the type of case study research that analyzes the creativity of mathematics teachers in designing learning during the covid-19 pandemic. The subjects in this study were mathematics teachers in grades VII, VIII and IX at SMPN 5 Sekotong. The instruments used in this study were interview guidelines and documentation. Data analysis used is data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results of this study are that the creativity of mathematics teachers in designing learning can be seen from the activities of each teacher during the process of designing the lesson. Where there are certain things that at the time of designing (designing) learning during this pandemic, the teacher made slight modifications, namely in determining competency achievement indicators (GPA) that did not burden students, the teacher emphasized more on student character building, including building student motivation to studying in school. The time allocation is also shortened because students who enter the school are divided into several sessions, so that students can keep their distance while studying in class and not cause crowds in the school environment. The teacher chooses to use the discussion and question and answer method where the discussion and question and answer method is carried out online using the WA Group. This is a solution for students to stay active in learning and comply with Health protocols.

Abstract

Abstract Students’ errors in solving mathematics problems, especially  in word problems, are influenced by various factors. One aspect to consider is gender differences. This study aims to describe the types of student errors in solving mathematics word problems on the topic of fractions based on gender. This study is qualitative research with a case study type. This research involved 2 male and 2 female students of class VII MTs. NW Bagik Polak, West Lombok. The instruments used were non-routine tests, rubrics for assessing errors and interview guidelines. The data obtained were analyzed using Newman Error Analysis (NEA). This study found that male and female students made almost the same types of errors. However, female students still found reading errors, while male students did not. These findings can be used as a reference for teachers in designing learning and providing assistance to students who have difficulty solving math problems.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji berbagai studi terkait pembelajaran matematika berbasis STEM pada sekolah menengah di Indonesia dan Malaysia. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode Systematic Literature Review (SLR). Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan dengan mengikuti pedoman PRISMA yang bersumber dari dua database yaitu Google Scholar dan Dimensions yang terindeks SINTA, MyCite, dan MyJurnal, dengan rentang waktu tahun 2020–2024. Data dianalisis secara kualitatif menggunakan VOSviewer dan secara kuantitatif deskriptif menggunakan RStudio. Dari 1189 artikel yang diperoleh, ditemukan 29 artikel yang sesuai dengan kriteria yang telah ditetapkan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pembelajaran matematika berbasis STEM di Indonesia dan Malaysia memiliki perbedaan dalam fokus konten. Penelitian di Indonesia lebih menekankan pada materi geometri dan Malaysia pada aljabar. Kedua negara menggunakan berbagai jenis media pembelajaran, dengan multimedia sebagai dominan. Faktor-faktor pendukung mencakup ketertarikan siswa dan relevansi materi berkontribusi pada keberhasilan penerapan STEM. Namun, tantangan mencakup keterbatasan kompetensi guru dan kesulitan dalam penggunaan teknologi juga dihadapi. Secara keseluruhan, penerapan STEM tidak hanya meningkatkan pemahaman konsep matematika siswa tetapi juga mendorong keterampilan berpikir kritis dan kreatif yang penting untuk menghadapi tantangan di era modern. Penelitian ini memberikan rekomendasi untuk penelitian selanjutunya terkait penerapan pembelajaran matematika berbasis STEM.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of the implementation of the Realistic Mathematics Education (RME) model assisted by GeoGebra on the creative thinking skills of junior high school students. The study used a quantitative approach with a posttest-only control group design. The subjects of the study were grade VIII students at SMP Islam Tarbiyatusshibyan Beremi who were divided into two groups, namely the experimental class that received learning with the RME model assisted by GeoGebra and the control class that used conventional learning. The instrument used was a descriptive test of mathematical creative thinking skills. The results of data analysis showed that there was a significant difference between the creative thinking skills of students in the experimental class and the control class. This shows that the implementation of RME assisted by GeoGebra has a positive effect on improving students' creative thinking skills. Thus, the RME learning model assisted by GeoGebra can be an effective alternative in improving the quality of mathematics learning at the junior high school level

Abstract

Abstract: This study aims to develop a STEM-based mathematics learning module on linear functions that meets the criteria of validity, practicality, and effectiveness. The purpose of the module development is to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of learning in schools in terms of time, cost, facilities, and human resources. The research method used is Research and Development (R&D) with the ADDIE development model. The trial was conducted at an MTsN, involving 6 students in a small group trial, 20 eighth-grade students in a field test, and 1 teacher. Validation was carried out by a subject matter expert and a media expert. The research instruments included validation sheets, response questionnaires, and tests. The validation results indicated a very high level of validity, the practicality was categorized as practical to very practical, and the effectiveness of the module was shown by an N-Gain score of 0.91 (high category). This module differs from conventional ones by fully integrating the STEM approach and presenting linear function material in an interactive and applicable context. Its strengths lie in its flexibility as self-instructional material, ease of use for teachers, and its ability to enhance learning effectiveness.Abstrak: Penelitian ini bertujuan mengembangkan modul pembelajaran matematika berbasis STEM pada materi fungsi linear yang memenuhi kriteria valid, praktis, dan efektif. Modul ini dikembangkan untuk meningkatkan pemahaman konsep fungsi dan keterampilan berpikir kritis siswa melalui pembelajaran yang kontekstual dan interdisipliner. Keunggulan modul ini terletak pada penerapan pendekatan STEM yang terintegrasi dengan penyajian materi fungsi linear dalam bentuk yang aplikatif, interaktif, dan relevan dengan kehidupan nyata. Keunggulannya terletak pada fleksibilitas sebagai bahan ajar mandiri, kemudahan bagi guru, dan peningkatan efektivitas pembelajaran. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah Research and Development (R&D) dengan model ADDIE. Uji coba dilakukan di MTsN dengan melibatkan 6 siswa (kelompok kecil), 20 siswa kelas VIII (uji lapangan), dan 1 guru. Validasi dilakukan oleh ahli materi dan ahli media. Instrumen penelitian berupa lembar validasi, angket respons, dan tes. Hasil validasi menunjukkan tingkat kevalidan sangat tinggi, kepraktisan tergolong praktis hingga sangat praktis, dan efektivitas modul ditunjukkan dengan skor N-gain sebesar 0,91 (kategori tinggi).

Abstract

Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mendeskripsikan persepsi calon guru terhadap pembelajaran berorientasi STEM pada program studi Tadris Matematika. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan jenis kualitatif deskriptif. Subjek penelitian sebanyak 30 orang. Selain peneliti sebagai instrument utama peneliti juga menggunakan instrumen wawancara semi terstruktur dan angket. Adapun angket yang berisi 24 pernyataan positif dan negatif. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian didapat bahwa subjek dengan kategori persepsi positif beranggapan bahwa pembelajaran STEM sangat memiliki banyak manfaat seperti meningkatkan pengetahuan, mengasah kemampuan berpikir kritis, mengasah kreatifitas dan menumbuhkan kepekaan peserta didik terhadap lingkungan disekitarnya yang bisa dirasakan oleh peserta didik serta sesuai dengan perkembangan abad ke-21. Selain itu, peserta didik juga akan lebih cepat memahami beberapa konsep matematika yang diterapkan pada proyek STEM seperti konsep geometri, kesebangunan, dan operasi hitung. Walaupun kemungkinan masalah yang muncul bisa saja terjadi akan tetapi itu semua tidak menjadi penghalang. Sedangkan menurut subjek dengan kategori persepsi negatif beranggapan bahwa walaupun pembelajaran STEM memiliki banyak manfaat akan tetapi tidak semua siswa dapat merasakan manfaatnya secara langsung. Selain itu, tidak semua peserta didik bisa langsung memahami semua konsep matematika yang diterapkan dalam proyek STEM. Seperti penerapan konsep geometri dan operasi hitung peserta didik lebih dominan memahami konsep operasi hitung di bandingkan dengan konsep geometri. Kemudian kemungkinan masalah yang muncul dalam pembelajaran STEM bisa saja dicari solusinya tetapi hanya pembelajaran STEM yang sederhana.
