Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan mengembangkan bahan ajar BIPA bermuatan budaya agraris untuk penutur asing tingkat pemula. Fokus utama penelitian ini adalah mengembangkan bahan ajar berdasar-kan aspek materi pembelajaran, organisasi penyajian, penggunaan bahasa, dan tampilan. Metode penelitian pengembangan ini menggunakan model R2D2 yang terdiri atas fokus penetapan, fokus perancangan, dan fokus desiminasi. Teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan observasi, telaah doku-men, diskusi kelompok terarah, dan angket. Instrumen pengumpulan data menggunakan pedoman observasi, pedoman telaah dokumen, pedoman diskusi kelompok terarah, dan angket validasi bahan ajar. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahan ajar yang dikembangkan layak untuk diimplementasikan sesuai penilaian dan saran validator.    Development of BIPA teaching materials with agrarian culture for beginner foreign speakers   Abstract: This study aims to develop BIPA teaching materials containing agrarian culture for beginner-level foreign speakers. The main focus of this research is developing teaching materials based on aspects of learning materials, presentation organization, language use, and display. This development research method uses the R2D2 model, which consists of a determination focus, a design focus, and a dissemination focus. Data collection techniques used observation, document review, focus group discussions, and questionnaires. The data collection instrument used an observation guide, a document review guide, a focus group discussion guide, and a teaching material validation questionnaire. The results showed that the teaching materials developed were feasible to be implemented according to the validator's assessment and suggestions.

Abstract

Kabupaten Jember memiliki potensi pengembangan pariwisata olahraga minat khusus. Salah satu olahraga yang memiliki potensi tersebut adalah Shorinji Kempo. Tujuan dari kegiatan pengabdian ini adalah untuk memberikan pemahaman mengenai pariwisata olahraga minat khusus dan menangkap potensi pengembangan pariwisata olahraga minat khusus pada komunitas Shorinji Kempo Mangli Jember. Metide yang dilakukan dengan sosialisasi, diskusi, dan praktik pembuatan paket wisata. Materi yang telah diberikan memberikan pengetahuan baru bagi peserta, bahwa olahraga Kempo memiliki nilai tambah dengan hadirnya pariwisata minat khusus. Abstract

The use of artificial intelligence (AI) in English Language Teaching (ELT) can be seen as both a benefit and a potential threat, depending on how it is used and implemented. On the one hand, AI technology has the potential to make language learning more efficient and effective, by providing personalized feedback and practice exercises tailored to the different student’s needs and learning style. By conducting an in-depth analysis of the existing literature on this topic, the writers aim at gaining a deeper understanding of the ways in which AI is being used to enhance the learning of English as a foreign language. Moreover, the literature review has involved an extensive search, mostly, for relevant scholarly articles, books, and additional sources that explore the intersection of AI and ELT. Besides, this review has also resulted a deeper understanding of the benefits and threats of using AI in ELT.

Abstract

This research was conducted to investigate the effect of using game on the seventh-grade students’ tense achievement at SMPN 2 Balung-Jember. The primary data of this research were collected from the students’ scores of tense test. The primary data were collected from the post-test to compare the two different groups after treatment and analyzed the result by using independent sample T-Test (SPSS). Based on the calculation, the result of this research showed that there was a significant effect of using game on the seventh-grade students’ tense achievement. It was proved by the value of significant column of t-test table by using SPSS software, and the result was 0.045 which was lower than 0.05 (significant level of 5%). The research results proved that there was a significant effect of using game on the seventh-year students’ tense achievement at SMPN 2 Balung-Jember. Therefore, it is recommended for the English teacher to use game as an alternative technique in teaching tenses.

Abstract

Considering the tourism potentials in Jember, the efforts in promoting the tourism in the area should be done by utilizing any promotional media including tourism booklet. The local government of Jember had published a printed promotional media entitled “Booklet Wisata Kabupaten Jember”. The booklet was written in Indonesian. Therefore, it was essential to translate the booklet into English to attract more visitors to come to Jember especially foreign tourists. In translating the booklet, there were four stages employed including analysis, transfer, restructure, and evaluation and revision. The key and essential parts of current translation were the analysis and evaluation and revision. The writers needed to analyze the source text carefully do to textual and substantial issues. In addition, evaluation and revision were also done by considering the perspective of the target readers. The final product of the translation was an English version of the booklet with the title of “Jember Tourism Booklet: Explore the Beauty of Jember”.
