Abstract

Latar Belakang: Dua faktor yang mempengaruhi  gizi dan kesehatan anak adalah kurangnya asupan makanan dan kondisi kesehatan. Picky eater memiliki perilaku sangat pemilih dalam makanan dan tidak mendapatkan menu makanan yang seimbang seperti sayuran, nasi buah-buahan dan hanya menginginkan makanan yang manis saja. Kader kesehatan yang berasal dari elemen masyarakat terbukti mampu meningkatkan status kesehatan masyarakat. Tujuan: Tujuan dari pengabdian masyarakat ini adalah untuk meningkatkan pengetahuan kader posyandu terkait picky eater sebagai indikator dalam penentuan status gizi balita. Metode: Metode berbasis Participatory Learning and Action (PLA). Populasi dalam penyuluhan ini adalah  semua kader posyandu yang ada di wilayah kerja Puskesmas Kuta Utara berjumlah 35 orang. Hasil: Nilai rata-rata pengetahuan kader posyandu sebelum diberikan pendidikan kesehatan mengenai picky eater adalah 8.5. Setelah diberikan pendidikan kesehatan nilai rata-rata postest menjadi 19.0, dengan nilai maksimal 21. Dapat disimpulkan bahwa ada peningkatan pengetahuan kader posyandu mengenai picky eater. Kesimpulan: Mempersiapkan kader posyandu agar memiliki pengetahuan dan pemahaman terkait picky eater dan cara mengatasinya ketika menemukan kasus tersebut.

Abstract

Introduction: Stunting remains a public health problem in Jembrana Regency, Bali. Despite a decline in prevalence, persistent cases suggest that cultural and nutritional factors influence feeding practices. This study aimed to explore cultural meanings and practices shaping feeding behaviors among children with stunting. Methods:  This study employed a qualitative approach with an ethnographic design. The subjects of this study were 10 mothers or caregivers of children aged 12 - 59 months with stunting, residing in Jembrana Regency, and one healthcare worker was selected using a purposive sampling technique. Data were collected through an in-depth interview guide, an observation sheet, documentation, and field notes. The collected data were then analyzed using a thematic analysis approach. Data validity was ensured through triangulation, peer debriefing, and member checking.          Results: The study identified four main themes that reflect how cultural values shape feeding behaviors in children with stunting. These themes include: (1) Snacks as substitutes that reduce appetite for main meals; (2) Normalization of small body size; (3) Flexibility expressed as "as long as the child wants to eat"; and (4) Collective caregiving culture (allomothering). Conclusion: Stunting in Jembrana is influenced by cultural values and family dynamics, so effective interventions must be culturally sensitive and target snack habits, parental misconceptions, dietary diversity, and caregiving coordination, including the role of grandmothers, to reduce stunting risk. Providing culturally sensitive nutrition education involving extended family and child caregivers is necessary in nursing.

Abstract

Background: Breast milk (ASI) is the best source of nutrition for infants, especially during the first six months of life. Breast milk production is strongly influenced by prolactin, which stimulates milk synthesis, and oxytocin, which plays a role in the let-down reflex. Stress, fatigue, and lack of stimulation may inhibit oxytocin secretion, thereby reducing milk flow. Methods: This study employed a literature review approach by searching articles through PubMed, ScienceDirect, and Google Scholar. Results: The literature review findings show that oxytocin massage has been proven effective in increasing both the production and flow of breast milk in breastfeeding mothers. Conclusion: Although oxytocin massage has been found to be effective in enhancing breast milk production and flow among breastfeeding mothers, further studies with randomized controlled trial designs and larger sample sizes are still needed to strengthen the scientific evidence regarding its effectiveness in supporting lactation.
