Abstract

Religious moderation is one of the policies of the Ministry of Religious Affairs which is expected to be implemented through curriculum design in the university, especially in the Semester Learning Plan. UIN Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang one of the campuses that became a pilot project for the implementation of religious moderation policy conducted a baseline study to identify the process of elaboration and internalization as well as to design RPS based on religious moderation. This research uses qualitative methodology with data collection techniques consisting of in-depth interviews, documentation studies, and focus group discussions. The data obtained were then analyzed through a 3-stage interactive model, namely data condensation, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results of research related to religious moderation-based curriculum management in the process of elaboration and internalization based on the perspective of non-religious course lecturers include: (1) the planning stage in preparing learning outcomes and study materials related to religious moderation both explicitly and implicitly; (2) the implementation stage by designing a learning process related to religious moderation; and (3) the evaluation stage is carried out based on the formula of the lecturer concerned because the implementation of this religious moderation-based curriculum has not been fully implemented.

Abstract

It is hoped that jekajeh, which is recognized and accommodated according to the social field of boarding students, can provide the benefit of a space for expression of female students that is in line with the hobbies and development of female students' psychological potential. This ethnographic qualitative research aims to discover the dynamics of jekajeh as a student's striving behavior, how to care for jekajeh, and how consultative stimulants are known to make jekajeh in Islamic boarding schools healthier. Participants were 5 female students at the Nurul Quran Kraksaan Islamic Boarding School aged 18-23 years. Data collection used in-depth interview techniques and open questionnaires, with inductive-abstractive data analysis. The results found that jekajeh is a form of problem solving, emotional control, and encouragement to pray. Hobbies became part of the potential solution to jekajeh, and the consultation space in interviews plays a role in breaking down pressure into striving power (jekajeh), which may or may not persist. This study has the implication that Islamic boarding schools need a response and provide psychological services for the growth of striving power (jekajeh), so that students remain healthy and survive in Islamic boarding schools.

Abstract

The perception and role of practical wisdom in implementing religious moderation policies which are built from the lecturer's perspective are open and democratic because they uphold academic culture. However, the unsystematic implementation of top-down policies has the potential to ignore the creative participation of task implementers in the field. The approach to insert religious moderation is stronger when listening to the good practices of learning implementers, namely lecturers. This article aimed to find out the role of lecturers' initiatives in strengthening religious moderation as implementers of learning in non-religious courses. The research was conducted with a qualitative phenomenological type. The research participants involved twenty-seven non-religious lecturers from 9 study programs. The data were extracted using the technique of focused group discussions and document analysis. The results of the lecturers’ practical wisdom are as follows, 1) religious moderation is perceived by lecturers as a wise view in responding to differences, a middle-way view that is not extreme to the left and right, and the ability to moderate multiculturally; 2) lecturers as learning actors in the field have creative, authentic and autonomous goodwill in inserting religious moderation so that responsive lecturers are found to prevent early risks of student radicalism, intolerance, and religious exclusivism; 3) lecturers can find learning methods in class by inserting religious moderation in general courses even though there are no technical-operational instructions in the learning process. It showed that lecturers in the context of implementing religious moderation responded quickly so that their practical wisdom provides solutions to accelerate the achievement of religious moderation that is actually more participatory.

Abstract

Purpose – This article aims to analyze the influence of the Islamic school environment on students' prosocial behavior, with an emphasis on the integration of religious values in learning strategies and school policies. Design/methods/approach – This study used a sequential explanatory mixed-method design involving 445 students, four principals, and eight teachers from four Islamic junior high schools. The quantitative stage used structured questionnaires to assess prosocial behavior, school climate, and classroom learning practices. The qualitative stage involved interviews with principals and teachers to provide contextual understanding. Findings – Quantitative results show that the school atmosphere explains 27.2% of the variation in students' prosocial behavior (R² = .272). The most influential factors are peer relationships (β = .173), sense of belonging (β = .148), and interpersonal justice (β = .123). For classroom practices, positive teaching (β = .353) and teacher encouragement (β = .113) made significant contributions. Qualitative findings support these results, with teachers and principals citing programs such as 5S, study groups, and Friday donations as effective ways to foster empathy, cooperation, and concern among students. Research implications/limitations – This study highlights the importance of an Islamic-based environment in encouraging prosocial behavior, although the findings may not be generalized to non-Islamic educational contexts. Originality/value – This study offers valuable insights into the intersection between religion and education, and contributes to strategies for developing prosocial behavior in Islamic school.
