Abstract

The term emotional quotion is relatively new in psychology and it is assumed to play significant role in daily life. This research finds out that emotional intelligence can be used as predictor for personal adjustment and behavorial delinquent in adolescent. The finding of this study shows that: first, emotional intelligence and requirements for adolescents in Yogyakarta City are relatively low, while the tendency to behave delinquently is relatively high. Second, there is a positive relationship between emotional intelligence and negative relationships with delinquency behavior. Third, there is no significant difference between male and female teenagers in terms of emotional and individual intelligence, but there are problems in delinquency behavior, women who do higher to behave delinquently if the opposite is with men.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menguji hubungan antara kepercayaan diri dengan kemampuan menulis kreatif siswa. Jumlah sampel pada penelitian ini berjumlah 73 siswa Madrasah Aliiyah Negeri 2 Bogor. Metode pengumpulan data adalah skala kepercayaan diri, sementara metode pengumpulan data yang digunakan untuk variabel kemampuan menulis kreatif menggunakan tes menulis kreatif. Hasil analisis menunjukan adanya  hubungan positif antara kepercayaan diri dengan kemampuan menulis kreatif, semakin tinggi tingkat kepercayaan diri maka semakin tinggi pula tingkat kemampuan menulis kreatif. Variabel kepercayaan diri mampu menjadi prediktor bagi tinggi rendahnya kemampuan menulis kreatif sebesar 6,1%.

Abstract

It is the fact, that the thought of western psychology has expand speedy, and adopted by many scholars, include us. However, it does not mean that there is no flawed in western psychology. For instance, Freud’s psychoanalysis is considered over simplified and cannot explain some problems such as fitrah in Islam, John Lock’s behaviorist did not admit human intrinsic potencies which empirically cannot be denied, in addition, humanistic of Maslow have ignored factor and the role of God in the human life.Islamic psychology comes into being to respond for the lack of western psychology theories. There are two ways in developing Islamic psychology; praxis and theoretic. Praxis method means developing Islamic psychology based on what have been developed by western psychology then we filter it and search the legitimacy for it; meanwhile, theoretic method means developing Islamic psychology based on the teaching and resources of Islamic knowledge itself. Abstract

This study aimed to examine the influence on family support for adolescent spirituality. Subjects were 167 students at four universities in Malang. Data were collected by family support scale and daily spiritual experiences scale. The results showed that family support influence on spirituality of R = .356 p.50. Psychological support was a significant factor influencing on adolescent spirituality.

Abstract

This research aims to examine the validity and reliability of mental health scale in the workplace by using the Rasch model approach as well as compare the results of analysis with classical test theory approach. The subject were 60 employees at the State Islamic University Malang. The analysis showed that the mental health scale in the workplace is declared valid and reliable either by using the approach of Rasch model and classical test theory. This means that both approaches are able to find the same results on the test of mental health scale in the workplace.

Abstract

Abstract. This study aims to test mental health inventory using a dual model theory approach. The subjects were 520 students (179 men and 341 women) in the age of 17-24 years. Confirmatory factor analysis used for testing the construct validity of mental health inventory. There are two aspects tested in the structural equation model (SEM), namely 1) the psychological well-being aspect consists of three factors namely positive emotions, love and satisfaction, and 2) the psychological distress aspect consists of three factors namely anxiety, depression and loss of control. The results showed that the mental health inventory had met the psychometric requirements. In psychological well-being aspects all aspects have a high level of reliability, whereas for psychological distress aspects one aspect has a high category and two aspects have a sufficient category. Keywords: confirmatory factor analysis, mental health, dual model theory Abstrak. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menguji alat ukur kesehatan mental dengan menggunakan pendekatan teori dual model. Subjek penelitian sebanyak 520 mahasiswa (179 laki-laki dan 341 perempuan) dalam usia 17-24 tahun. Analisis faktor konfirmatori menjadi dasar untuk pengujian validitas konstruk alat ukur kesehatan mental. Ada dua aspek yang diuji dalam model persamaan structural (SEM), yaitu 1) aspek psychological well-being terdiri dari tiga faktor yaitu emosi positif, cinta dan kepuasan, dan 2) aspek psychological distress terdiri dari tiga faktor yaitu cemas, depresi dan kehilangan kontrol. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa alat ukur kesehatan mental telah memenuhi persyaratan psikometrik. Pada aspek psychological well-being semua aspek mempunyai tingkat reliabiltas yang tinggi, sedangkan untuk aspek psychological distress satu aspek mempunyai kategori tinggi dan dua aspek mempunyai kategori cukup. Kata kunci: analisis faktor konfirmatori, kesehatan mental, teori dual model

Abstract

The students’ well-being is an educational issue that has recently received great attention from various parties, be they academicians, politicians, and policymakers. This research aimed to test the role of classroom climate in enhancing students’ well-being. A correlational study in our work revealed that overall, among a sample of 300 grade V and grade VI students in elementary schools and madrasah ibtidaiyah in East Java, classroom climate positively and significantly predicted students’ well-being. The classroom climate promoted students’ well-being particularly when it took shape via task orientation and when it encouraged solidarity, cooperation, and involvement among students, as well as the perceived teacher justice. Aspects of classroom climate which were suboptimal in explaining students’ well-being included teacher support and learning inquiry.Kesejahteraan siswa baru-baru ini merupakan isu pendidikan yang mendapat perhatian serius dari berbagai pihak, baik akademisi, politisi, maupun pembuat kebijakan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menguji sejauh mana suasana kelas berperan dalam meningkatkan kesejahteraan siswa. Subjek penelitian adalah 300 siswa kelas V dan VI sekolah dasar dan madrasah ibtidaiyah yang ada di Jawa Timur. Studi korelasional dalam penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa secara keseluruhan, suasana kelas menjadi prediktor positif yang signifikan bagi tingkat kesejahteraan siswa. Suasana kelas yang secara signifikan berpengaruh terhadap kesejahteraan siswa adalah suasana kelas yang berorientasi pada tugas, yang bisa mendorong kekompakkan, kerjasama, dan keterlibatan antar siswa, serta yang meningkatkan persepsi bahwa guru telah memperlakukan siswa secara adil. Aspek suasana kelas yang tidak secara signifikan berpengaruh terhadap kesejahteraan siswa mencakup dukungan guru terhadap siswa dan proses penyelidikan dalam kelas.

Abstract

One of the critical variables in the online learning process during the Covid-19 pandemic is teachers' self-efficacy to their ability to carry out online learning. However, the fact is not all teachers have the efficacy of teaching online. The article invites readers to reflect by analyzing the causes of low self-efficacy of elementary school teachers carrying out online learning. The study used a mixed-method approach involving 22 elementary school teachers. Primary and secondary data collection using questionnaires, interviews, observations, and documentation. Data analysis used quantitative and qualitative. The results show that three factors cause low self-efficacy of elementary school teachers: first, teachers' perception that online learning is ineffective and efficient; second, weak mastery and skills to apply technology for learning; and thirdly, the lack of online learning support facilities during the pandemic. This study's results can be an empiric basis for improving teachers' quality by schools, communities, and governments, especially related to online learning, not only during the Covid-19 pandemic but also in the long run education in the digital age.

Abstract

Changing the learning system during the pandemic period from offline to online requires teachers' readiness, including elementary school teachers. Demands for mastery of technology in learning and the characteristics of elementary school students who need direct guidance in learning are teachers' problems. However, not all primary school teachers are ready for technology-based online learning. This study aims to investigate the readiness of primary school teachers in online learning in terms of three aspects, namely cognitive (knowledge and perception), affective (emotional condition), and moral (skills). The research method uses a mixed-method with data collection techniques using a questionnaire deepened by interviews. The research respondents were 22 elementary school teachers in Tlekung village, Junrejo district, Batu City. Data analysis used descriptive statistical analysis and qualitative analysis. The results showed that the teacher had a low readiness to carry out online learning in general. The level of primary school teachers' readiness to carry out online learning still needs to be improved, especially in the knowledge and skills factor by providing online learning training experiences.
