Abstract

East Java Province, as one of the regions with the largest economic and population contribution in Indonesia, plays a strategic role in realizing sustainable and inclusive regional development. In the context of regional autonomy that emphasizes accountability and efficiency of budget management, regional financial performance analysis is important to assess the extent to which provincial governments are able to manage fiscal resources independently, effectively, and sustainably.  This study aims to find out the regional financial performance of East Java Province during the period 2016-2022. This study uses a quantitative research method with realized data from regional revenues, government transfer revenues, capital expenditures, regional expenditures, and regional original revenues from the Directorate General of Budget Balance Data Portal for 2016-2022. The ratio analysis method, namely a) fiscal decentralization, b) financial independence, c) financial dependence, d) efficiency and e) financial effectiveness, and f) regional financial compatibility was chosen because it was able to provide a comprehensive and multidimensional picture of the fiscal performance of East Java Province within the framework of regional autonomy, as well as reveal the strengths, weaknesses, and sustainability of its financial management. This approach is relevant for assessing not only the size of the budget but also the quality, impact, and long-term fiscal resilience. The results of fiscal decentralization showed a very good category, financial independence showed a high category with a pattern of delegative relationships, financial dependence showed a high category, financial effectiveness showed a very effective category, and financial efficiency showed a less efficient category. In the harmony of regional expenditure, it is divided into 2. First, the capital expenditure ratio shows a poor category. Second, the operating expenditure ratio shows a fairly good category. The findings of this study provide an empirical basis for local governments to develop fiscal policies that are more efficient, sustainable, and results-oriented, as well as an evaluation material in strengthening regional autonomy. At the academic level, the study enriches discussions about the relationship between fiscal decentralization and regional financial performance, particularly in the context of large provinces with complex fiscal burdens such as East Java.

Abstract

International trade plays a crucial role in driving economic growth and enhancing a country's competitiveness, particularly in strategic industries such as the railway industry, which requires high-tech technology and high-quality raw materials. In the context of globalization and increasingly fierce international market competition, a country's ability to maintain and improve its export performance is a key factor in the industry's sustainability. This study aims to analyze the competitiveness and growth position of railway raw material exports from three key countries—Germany, Japan, and Australia—in the international market. The analytical methods used include the Export Competitiveness Index (ECI) to measure export competitiveness and Export Product Dynamics (EPD) to identify the growth position of export products. The data used are derived from export statistics for specific periods relevant to the development of the global railway industry. The results show that Germany has strong and stable export competitiveness, reflecting its technological superiority and industrial efficiency. Japan exhibits competitiveness that tends to fluctuate but remains at a competitive level, while Australia has considerable export growth potential despite its relatively lower competitiveness compared to the other two countries.

Abstract

Regional economic development requires the identification of leading sectors as a foundation for formulating effective and sustainable development policies. This study aims to analyze base sectors and the dynamics of economic sector development in Aceh Province using the Location Quotient (LQ) and Dynamic Location Quotient (DLQ) methods. The data used consist of Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP) data of Aceh Province and Indonesia at constant prices by industrial sector over a specific period. The LQ method is applied to identify base and non-base sectors, while the DLQ method is used to analyze changes and future prospects of economic sectors. The results indicate that several economic sectors function as base sectors in Aceh Province; however, not all base sectors exhibit progressive growth. Meanwhile, the DLQ analysis reveals the presence of potential sectors that are expected to develop and become leading sectors in the future. These findings are expected to serve as a reference for local governments in formulating regional economic development strategies oriented toward strengthening leading sectors and enhancing regional competitiveness.

Abstract

This study aims to find out the economic structure in 5 cities in DKI Jakarta Province. The research method uses descriptive quantitative research with data sources from the Central Statistics Agency. The 2 analysis tools used are Location Quotient (LQ) and Williamson Index (IW). The development process of DKI Jakarta Province has experienced obstacles due to the Covid-19 pandemic so that it has experienced economic recovery in 2021 post-pandemic. Location Quotient analysis shows that South Jakarta does not have a superior sector, West Jakarta and Central Jakarta have 1 superior sector while the most superior sectors are in North Jakarta with 6 sectors and East Jakarta with 7 sectors. The Williamson Index shows that 2 regions, namely West Jakarta and Central Jakarta, experienced a decrease in income inequality while North Jakarta, South Jakarta and East Jakarta experienced an increase in income inequality. Despite being faced with various problems in regional development in terms of sectoral and income inequality, DKI Jakarta is still a benchmark and reference for development for other regions.

Abstract

This study examines economic inequality in the Kedungsepur National Strategic Area, Central Java Province, which is still high despite the potential of leading sectors in each region. The objective is to identify leading sectors and analyze economic inequality in the region. The methods used include Location Quotient (LQ), Dynamic Location Quotient (DLQ), and Klassen Typology analysis, with secondary data from the Central Bureau of Statistics during the 2019-2023 period. The results show four leading sectors: Agriculture, Forestry, and Fisheries in Kendal; Government Administration in Demak; and Financial Services in Grobogan. However, not all regions have leading sectors, such as Semarang and Salatiga. The Williamson Index reveals that economic inequality in the region is still significant, indicating the need for strategies to maximize the potential of the leading sectors. In conclusion, although there are leading sectors that can boost the economy, inequality between regions in KSN Kedungsepur remains a challenge that must be overcome to achieve more equitable development.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of population, exchange rates, and investment on international trade in countries that are members of RCEP. With the approach of dynamic panel data analysis method with 15 countries namely ASEAN, Japan, South Korea, Australia, China, and New Zealand. in 2012-2022, which sourced data from the World Development Indicator (WDI) World Bank with the generalized moment method (GMM). The results showed that the FD-GMM assumption did not meet 3 estimates (arellano-bond test, sargan test, and model specification test) then continued with the SYS-GMM assumption which successfully met 3 estimates, then the regression results of the SYS-GMM model will be used in the discussion. The results of the analysis show that an increase in population will increase trade by 0.149068%. Likewise, an increase in the exchange rate will also increase trade by 0.0795209%. And if there is an increase in investment, it will increase trade by 0.0111297%. This shows that population, exchange rates, and investment have a positive and significant effect on international trade. From the results of this study, it is hoped that the government can provide appropriate policies so that the policies implemented can be realized and the government can also increase population and labor, policies to increase economic competitiveness, and policies to increase economic stability, to increase trade.
