Abstract

Pregnancy causes physical and emotional changes from pregnant women as well as social changes in the family. Pregnancy in general will continue to develop until a healthy baby is born through the birth canal. However, under certain conditions, sometimes the baby cannot be expelled through the birth canal. In this condition, a caesarean section is an alternative to remove the baby from the mother's stomach because normal delivery does not work and the baby does not come out after 20 hours than it should be. This can be caused by the size of the baby being too large against the birth canal, slowing of the cervical effacement or because the babies to be born are twins who are feared to slow down the birth process. This study aims to describe the results of the prothrombin time (PT) and activated partial thromboplastin time (APTT) examinations in pregnant women before surgery at the Bumi Panua Pohuwato Regional General Hospital, sub-district of Marisa, district of Pohuwato, province of Gorontalo. This research method used descriptive analysis with a quantitative approach. Sampling used an accidental sampling technique. The results showed that on the prothrombin time examination, 5 patients (16.7%) had abnormal PT results, while 25 patients (83.3%) had normal PT results. In the activated partial thromboplastin time examination using the same samples, 12 patients (40%) had abnormal APTT results and 18 patients (60%) had normal APTT results. The total sample was 30 pregnant women (100%).

Abstract

Diabetes mellitus is a chronic metabolic disease requiring long-term pharmacological therapy, thereby increasing the risk of adverse drug reactions (ADRs). Patients enrolled in the Indonesian Chronic Disease Management Program (PROLANIS) commonly receive continuous antidiabetic treatment, making pharmacovigilance an essential component of patient safety. This study aimed to analyze the risk of adverse drug reactions among diabetes mellitus patients participating in the PROLANIS program at the North Kota Community Health Center, Gorontalo City. A quantitative descriptive study with a cross-sectional design was conducted using secondary data obtained from patients' medical records. Total sampling was employed, resulting in 53 eligible participants. ADR risk was evaluated using the GerontoNet ADR Risk Score, while demographic characteristics, medication use, and clinical profiles were analyzed descriptively using frequencies and percentages. The findings showed that most participants were female and aged between 51 and 60 years. Metformin was the most frequently prescribed antidiabetic medication, followed by sulfonylureas and combination therapy. Most patients had fewer than four comorbidities and no documented liver disease, renal impairment, or previous ADR history. However, approximately one-third of the participants received eight or more medications, indicating the presence of polypharmacy as a potential contributor to ADR risk. These findings suggest that although the overall clinical risk profile was relatively low, medication burden remains an important concern. Routine pharmacovigilance, regular medication review, and individualized treatment monitoring should be incorporated into the PROLANIS program to improve medication safety and optimize diabetes management in primary healthcare settings.

Abstract

Hypercholesterolemia is a major risk factor for cardiovascular diseases and remains a significant public health concern worldwide. In addition to pharmacological treatment, herbal therapies have gained increasing attention as complementary approaches for cholesterol management. Soursop leaves (Annona muricata) contain bioactive compounds such as flavonoids, tannins, and phenolic compounds that may contribute to lipid regulation. This study aimed to determine the effect of soursop leaf brewing on cholesterol levels among patients with hypercholesterolemia. A quantitative study with a pre-experimental one-group pretest–posttest design was conducted from August to September 2025 at the West Limboto Community Health Center, Gorontalo, Indonesia. Thirty respondents were selected using purposive sampling. Cholesterol levels were measured before and after administration of soursop leaf brewing using an EasyTouch GCU device. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, the Kolmogorov–Smirnov normality test, and the paired-samples t-test with a significance level of 0.05. Most respondents were aged 30–59 years (96.7%) and female (73.3%). Following the intervention, cholesterol levels decreased in 28 respondents (93.3%), while 2 respondents (6.7%) experienced an increase. The normality test showed that the data were normally distributed (p = 0.360). The paired-samples t-test revealed a statistically significant difference between cholesterol levels before and after administration of soursop leaf brewing (p < 0.001). Soursop leaf brewing significantly reduced cholesterol levels among patients with hypercholesterolemia. These findings suggest that soursop leaf brewing may serve as a potential complementary non-pharmacological intervention for cholesterol management.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the relationship between the level of patients’ knowledge and family support on the dietary compliance of DM patients in Dr. M.M Dunda Limboto Regional Public Hospital. The method of the research used was quantitative research. The sampling technique used was an accidental sampling system with total sample of 66 respondents, then analyzed using Chi Square statistical test. The results of the research showed that there was no significant relationship (0,993>0,05) between the patients’ level of knowledge and dietary compliance of DM patients, so Ha1 hypothesis was rejected and H01 hypothesis was accepted, and there was a significant relationship (0,043<0,05) between family support with the dietary compliance of DM patients, then H02 hypothesis was rejected and Ha2 hypothesis was accepted, with the conclusion that the research results showed that there was no relationship between the patients’ level of knowledge on the dietary compliance of DM patients and there was a relationship between family support and dietary compliance of DM patients in Dr. M.M Dunda Limboto Regional Public Hospital.

Abstract

Risk management is an important approach in identifying, analyzing, and managing various potential risks that can affect the lives of individuals and families. In the context of Moutong Barat Village, many people do not fully understand this concept and how to apply it in everyday life. The purpose of this community service is to increase the understanding of the community in this village about the importance of risk management and provide them with skills in identifying and managing potential risks. This activity involves training that includes basic risk management theory and practical simulations. As a result, the community becomes more aware of the various risks that exist, and is able to apply risk management principles to protect themselves and their families from unwanted losses.
