Abstract

Background: Forward Head Posture is a body posture depicted with the head facing anteriorly or forward. The main symptom of Forward Head Posture is pain disorders that can affect functional disorders. This case study patient is a 28-year-old man diagnosed with Forward Head Posture. Objective: This case study aims to determine the management and effect of physiotherapy interventions in patients by using Microwave Diathermy (MWD) and Scapula Stabilization exercises on the condition of FHP. Method: Data collection was carried out by evaluating the patient using the Craniovertebral Angle (CVA) to determine the degree of CVA, Occiput Wall Distance (OWD) to determine the distance of C7 to the wall and Neck Disability Index (NDI) to measure the functional activity of the neck. Evaluations were carried out 6 times over 4 weeks. Results: There was an increase in the Craniovertebral angle from a value of 43.20 to 460. A decrease in the distance of the occiput to the wall from a value of 7.4 cm to 6.5 cm. There was an increase in the functional value of the neck, marked by a decrease in the NDI value of 20%. Conclusion: Microwave Diathermy and Scapula Stabilization Exercise physiotherapy interventions can overcome movement and neck function disorders due to Forward Head Posture.

Abstract

Introduction: VO2max is an indicator of a person's maximum aerobic capacity, which is important for assessing the level of cardiovascular fitness. Objective: This study aims to analyse the effect of exercise habits on VO2max values in adolescents. Method: We conducted VO2max measurements using the Cooper Test, utilizing a quantitative design and experimental approach. We divided the study sample into groups based on the frequency and intensity of their exercise. Results: The analysis results showed that there was a significant effect between exercise habits on VO2max values in adolescents, with the ANOVA test results showing an F value of 19.856 and a significance value of 0.00 (p <0.05). These findings indicate that the more often and intensely a person exercises, the higher the VO2max value achieved. Conclusion: This study concludes that routine and regular exercise habits significantly increase adolescents' aerobic capacity, which can ultimately contribute to improving cardiovascular health and overall fitness.

Abstract

ABSTRAK Kegiatan pembelajaran dengan memadukan kurikulum dasar pendidikan dengan pendidikan Islami melalui solat berjamaah, tilawah dan tadarus Al-quran, dzikir, hapalan surat merupakan program unggulan dari pondok pesantren ini. Terdapat kendala yang dirasakan oleh pengelola pondok yakni terbatasnya kemampuan tim pengajar dalam mengelola proses pembelajaran aktif yang berpusat pada siswa mewujudkan motivasi belajar yang tinggi bagi semua siswa  menyelesaikan beberapa target hapalan Surat Al-Quran. Kegiatan pengembangan khususnya program motivasi belajar selama ini masih dikelola secara terpisah dan belum terorganisasi dan terintregrasi dengan baik menggunakan sistem komputer. Tujuan dari pengabdian ini yaitu membantu peningkatan pelayanan akademik dan keterampilan pengurus Yayasan  Ma’ariful Ulum untuk mewujudkan program pembelajaran yang aktif dan efektif  dengan semangat motivasi sesuai dengan  target waktu belajar siswa di pondok pesantren melalui pemanfaatan teknologi informasi. enam langkah metode pelaksanaan yang dilakukan mulai dari sosialisasi E-Motivation Program SemJar: Semangar Belajar (Psikomotivasi dan senam motivasi), pengenalan teknologi dan uji coba sistem, pelatihan dan pendampingan psikomotivasi, pelatihan dan pendampingan senam motivasi, penerapan teknologi dan evaluasi program. Terdapat Peningkatan pada Hasil yang didapat Kemampuan manajemen pengelolaan program pembelajaran meningkat menjadi 88% dengan E-Motivation Program SemJar (Semangat Belajar), Pengetahuan dan keterampilan pengelola dalam melakukan program psikomotivasi menigkat menjadi 91% dan pada program kebugaran meningkat menjadi 89%. E-Motivation Program SemJar (Semangar Belajar) mampu meningkatkan kemampuan pengelola dan pengajar dalam pelakasannan program belajar, hal ini sejalan dengan output utama yaitu pemberdayaan pengelola Kata Kunci: E-Motivation Program, Pengelola, Pemberdayaan  ABSTRACT Learning activities by combining basic education curriculum with Islamic education through congregational prayer, recitation and tadarus of the Al-Quran, dhikr, memorization of letters are the flagship programs of this Islamic boarding school. There are obstacles felt by the management of the boarding school, namely the limited ability of the teaching team in managing the active learning process that is centered on students to realize high learning motivation for all students to complete several memorization targets of the Al-Quran. Development activities, especially learning motivation programs, have so far been managed separately and have not been well organized and integrated using a computer system. The purpose of this service is to help improve academic services and the skills of the Ma'ariful Ulum Foundation administrators to realize active and effective learning programs with a spirit of motivation in accordance with the target learning time of students at the Islamic boarding school through the use of information technology. Six steps of the implementation method carried out starting from the socialization of the E-Motivation Program SemJar: Semangar Belajar (Psychomotivation and motivational gymnastics), introduction of technology and system trials, psychomotivation training and mentoring, motivational gymnastics training and mentoring, application of technology and program evaluation. There is an increase in the results obtained. The ability of learning program management management increased to 88% with the SemJar E-Motivation Program (Semangat Belajar), Knowledge and skills of managers in implementing psychomotivation programs increased to 91% and in fitness programs increased to 89%. Abstract

Introduction: Injuries to the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) are some of the most prevalent musculoskeletal injuries, especially among athletes and those participating in high-impact sports or physical activities. To evaluate balance recovery in patients following Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) reconstruction using the Mini-Balance Evaluation Systems Test (Mini-BESTest). Methods: This study assessed the balance abilities of post-ACL reconstruction patients by administering the Mini-BESTest. A total of 50 patients participated, completing the test at 6 months post-surgery. The results were compared to a control group of healthy individuals to determine the effectiveness of the Mini-BESTest in identifying balance deficits post-reconstruction. Results: The Mini-BESTest scores indicated significant differences in balance abilities between the post-ACL reconstruction group and the healthy control group (p<0.03). Patients demonstrated improved balance over time, but still showed deficits compared to healthy peers. Factors such as age, gender, and time since surgery were analysed for their impact on balance recovery. Conclusion: The Mini-BESTest proved to be a valuable tool for assessing balance recovery in post-ACL reconstruction patients. While improvements were noted, there remains a need for targeted rehabilitation to fully restore balance. This study highlights the utility of the Mini-BESTest in clinical settings to monitor and guide rehabilitation strategies.

Abstract

Latar belakang: Kondisi Forward Head Posture (FHD) merupakan kondisi dan problematika musculoskeletal yang sering ditemukan pada masyarakat umum dengan posisi kepala berada jauh dari garis tubuh. Posisi yang tidak ergonomis pada leher akan menimbulkan upper cross syndrome, shortening pada serabut otot dan overstretching pada otot-otot disekitar leher. Kondisi tersebut dapat menimbulkan pergeseran pada Line of Gravity (LoG) sehingga dalam jangka waktu lama jika tidak diberikan penanganan yang tepat akan menimbulkan gangguan keseimbangan statis bahkan dinamis. FHP merupakan penyebab utama nyeri leher, nyeri kepala hingga kecacatan secara global. Tujuan: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui lama nya waktu pengaruh efektivitas latihan scapular stabilization dapat bertahan pada kondisi Forward Head Posture (FHP) akibat muscle imbalance. Metode: Penelitian ini merupakan quasi eksperimental dengan pre dan post-test design. Penelitian ini telah dilakukan di Rumah Sakit Siloam Sriwijaya Palembang sebanyak 30 responden berpartisipasi pada penelitian ini. Namun, terdapat 2 responden yang drop out karena tidak mengikuti pemeriksaan pada follow up ke-2. Seluruh responden di ukur sekala nyeri dengan Numeric Rating Scale, derajad FHP dengan Cervical Vertebra Angle (CVA) dan kualitas aktifitas sehari-hari dengan Neck Disability Index (NDI) questionnaire. One-way repeated ANOVA digunakan untuk analisis evaluasi pre-test, follow up 1 (minggu ke 2) dan 2 (minggu ke 4) setelah intervensi perlakuan. Hasil: Terdapat perbedaan yang signifikan pada derajad CVA, nilai nyeri dan nilai NDI (p<.05). Namun, nilai nyeri tidak terdapat perbedaan yang signifikan pada follow up 1 dan 2 (p>.05). Kesimpulan: Latihan scapula stabilisasi dapat berpengaruh terhadap derajad CVA dan nilai NDI hingga follow up ke 2 (6 minggu) setelah intervensi. Namun tidak untuk skala nyeri.

Abstract

Latar Belakang: Plantar fasciitis sering terjadi pada usia 40-70 tahun, namun bisa kurang dari 40 tahun jika mengalami kelainan bentuk kaki yaitu telapak kaki rata dan sering dialami wanita. Sebanyak 43% terjadi pada pekerja yang berdiri lebih dari 6 jam. 70% terjadi pada orang yang kelebihan berat badan atau obesitas dan lebih dari 50% pada orang berusia di atas 50 tahun. Wall stretch dan cross friction diketahui mampu mengurangi gangguan gerak dan fungsi kaki akibat plantar fasciitis. Tujuan: Mengetahui perbedaan pengaruh Wall Stretch dan Cross Friction terhadap Gangguan Gerakan dan Fungsi Kaki Akibat Plantaris Fasciitis. Metode: Penelitian ini dilakukan pada 20 responden yang dibagi menjadi dua kelompok. Masing-masing kelompok diberikan tindakan Wall stretch dan cross friction.  Penelitian ini adalah quasi eksperimen dengan rancangan pretest and posttest design. Hasil : Hasil penelitian dianalisis dengan menggunakan Paired Sample T-Test. Hasil Uji normalitas data berdistribusi normal, uji homogenitas data berdistribusi homogen. Sedangkan hasil Uji hipotesis didapatkan nilai p = 0,001 berarti baik intervensi Wall stretch maupun cross friction sama-sama dapat mengurangi gangguan gerak dan fungsi kaki akibat fasciitis plantaris. Namun, kedua intervensi tersebut tidak memiliki perbedaan skor FAAM yang signifikan. Saran: Penggunaan intervensi pada kondisi plantar fasciitis sebaiknya dikombinasikan dengan elektroterapi agar dapat memaksimalkan treatment.Kata Kunci: Plantar fasciitis, Skor FAAM, Wall stretch, dan cross friction

Abstract

Introduction: The normal aging process affects all physiological processes in the elderly or that's called geriatric giants causing several problems, one of the loss of the ability is to maintain balance when walking. Purpose : This study aims to determine The effects of ankle strategies exercise and tandem walking exercise in elderly people with dynamic balance disorder. Methodology :Sixty elderly people participated in this study. They were separated into two groups with 30 participants in each group. First group were given ankle strategy and the second group were given tandem walking exercise. The balance test was used Time Up and Go Test (TUGT) and One Leg Standing (OLS) Test. The best TUG score and OLS (in seconds) of 3 trials in each condition was obtained for analysis. Results : Aftersix times a weeks during 4 weeks, there was increase dynamic balance ability value in elderly people. The result test using Paired Samples t-test in 1stgroup showed p = 0.000 (p > 0.05) and in the 2nd group showed p = 0.000 (p > 0.05) meaning that both treatments given to 1st and 2nd group had an effect on the balance improvement in elderly people. Therefore, no significant difference between the two groups. Originality :There were significant increase in the dynamic balance ability of elderly people after routinely getting ankle strategy exercise and tandem walking exercise aftersix times in a weeks during 4 weeks.

Abstract

Forward Head Posture (FHP) is a prevalent musculoskeletal disorder, especially among university students engaged in prolonged sedentary activities. Weakness in scapular stabilizing muscles such as the serratus anterior and rhomboids contributes significantly to postural misalignment and associated pain. This study aimed to investigate the effectiveness of progressive strengthening exercises targeting the serratus anterior and rhomboid muscles in improving craniovertebral angle, reducing neck pain, and enhancing functional outcomes in final-year university students with FHP. A quasi-experimental pre-test and post-test design was employed involving 67 final-year students. Participants were divided into an intervention group (n=33) and a control group (n=34). The intervention group underwent a progressive strengthening program 3 sessions per week over 4 weeks, while the control group received no physiotherapy. Outcome measures included craniovertebral angle (CVA), Numeric Rating Scale (NRS) for pain, and the Neck Disability Index (NDI). The intervention group demonstrated a significant improvement in CVA increased from 42.1° ± 2.5° to 49.3° ± 2.8° (p < 0.001), compared to a non-significant change in the control group 42.5° ± 2.3° to 43.1° ± 2.6° (p < 0.001). NRS decreased from 5.6 ± 1.2 to 2.1 ± 0.9 (p = 0.000), and NDI scores dropped from 32.4 ± 4.7 to 15.3 ± 3.9 (p = 0.000). The control group showed no significant changes in any measure. Progressive strengthening of the serratus anterior and rhomboid muscles is effective in correcting forward head posture, alleviating pain, and improving cervical function. These findings support the integration of targeted postural exercises into student wellness and physiotherapy programs.

Abstract

Osteoarthritis (OA) adalah kelainan degeneratif pada sendi yang menyerang tulang rawan (cartilage), ditandai dengan munculnya nyeri saat sendi yang terkena mengalami penekanan. Beberapa faktor yang berkontribusi pada terjadinya OA meliputi genetika, usia lanjut, jenis kelamin perempuan, dan obesitas. Selain itu, beberapa kondisi seperti kurang aktivitas fisik, diabetes, dan perempuan yang berada dalam fase pre-menopause juga dapat memperparah OA. Sebagai upaya pencegahan, kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat telah dilaksanakan pada tanggal 20 Juli 2024 di SD Muhammadiyah 02 Palembang, dengan peserta sebanyak 36 orang dari anggota MPKU, Seberang Ulu 1 Palembang. Kegiatan ini menggunakan metode ceramah, di mana ketua tim memberikan edukasi tentang prosedur latihan fisik dan dosis latihan yang tepat. Latihan yang diperkenalkan meliputi Standing Leg Lifts, Sit and Stand, Kick-Backs, The Calm, Quadriceps Stretch, dan Hamstrings Stretch. Latihan-latihan ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kekuatan otot, memperluas Range of Motion sendi lutut, serta meningkatkan stabilitas dan keseimbangan, sehingga diharapkan mampu mencegah terjadinya osteoarthritis genu. Sebelum diberikan edukasi, pemahaman peserta tentang pencegahan OA berada pada rata-rata 54%, dan setelah edukasi meningkat menjadi 78%.
