Abstract

The performance of mutton is influenced by quality feed, easy to obtain, and does not compete with humans. Water hyacinth has a fairly high content of protein, fiber, fat, and energy. The purpose of this study was to analyze the effect of the use of water hyacinth-based forage rations on the performance of sorghum. The study was conducted experimentally using a completely randomized design (CRD). A total of 80 male mutton were placed in 20 cage plots, so that each cage plot consisted of 4 birds. The types of treatment used were P0 (100% rice bran) as control, P1 (75% rice bran + 25% water hyacinth), P2 (50% rice bran + 50% water hyacinth), P3 (25% rice bran + 75% water hyacinth). The variables observed were ration consumption, body weight gain, ration conversion, feed cost per gain, and mortality. The research data were analyzed using analysis of variance and if they showed significant differences, they were further tested using Duncan's multiple distance test. The results showed that the ration consumption, body weight gain, ration conversion, and feed cost per gain with the addition of water hyacinth in the ration statistically showed a significant difference while the mortality calculated descriptively did not show any difference. Mortality occurred in treatment P3 (25% rice bran + 75% water hyacinth). It can be concluded that in order to improve the performance of male gibbons, the provision of forage water hyacinth in the ration should not be more than 50%.

Abstract

This research was conducted in March - August 2021, located in Darma District, Kuningan Regency, West Java Province, Indonesia, which is located at the coordinates 7°02°09.4 "South Latitude 108°24'24'20.6' East Longitude. The purpose of this study was to analyze the effect of indigofera flour on the performance muscovy duck. The research was conducted experimentally using the Completely Randomized Design (CRD) 80 muscovy duck were drawn to be placed in a cage which was divided into 20 sections consisting of 4 muscovy duck. The types of treatment used were P0 (basal ration) as control, P1 25% indigofera flour, P2 50% indigofera flour, P3 75% indigofera flour and P4 100% indigofera flour as a substitute for soybean meal and rice bran. The variables observed were ration consumption, weight gain, ration conversion and feed cost per gain. The research data were analyzed using variance (Anova) and if there was a significant difference, then further tested using Duncan's multiple distance test (DMRT). The results showed that the use of indigofera flor cold increase (P<0,05) feed consumption, this is due to the nutrient content in the ratio and the variables of weight gain, ration conversion and feed cost per gain did not show a significant difference (P>0,05). It can be concluted that the effect of the addition of indigofera as a subtitute for soybean meal and bran can increase ration consumption but is not followed by optimal grain performance.

Abstract

This research was carried out on March 30, 2021 to April 27, 2021, located in Darma District, Kuningan Regency, West Java Province, which is located at the coordinates 7°02'09.4” South Latitude 108°24'24'20.6” East Longitude. The purpose of this study was to analyze the effect of the level of indigofera flour ration on the carcass quality of muscovy duck. The study was conducted experimentally using Completely Randomized Design (CRD). 80 ducks are drawn by lot to be placed in a cage which has been divided into 20 sections, each section filled with 4 ducks. This study consisted of five types of treatment, namely PO without the addition of indigofera leaf meal (TDI) as control feed, P1 25% added TDI, P2 50% added TDI, P3 75% added TDI, and P4 100% added TDI. The variables observed in the study were the carcass quality of muscovy duck, including measurements of body composition, carcass composition, and non-carcass composition measurements. The research data were analyzed using the Variety Print or Anova (Analysis of Variance) and further tested using the Duncan Multiple Range Test. The results showed that feeding indigofera flour in the ration had a significant effect (P<0.05) on feather weight, dressing weight, carcass weight, chest weight, and non-carcass weight. However, overall the addition of TDI in the ration reduced the carcass quality of the muscovy duck. Therefore, it can be concluded that the addition of TDI as a substitute for soybean meal and bran in the eggplant ration is less effective and can reduce the quality of the eggplant carcass.

Abstract

Carcass percentage can be affected by feed consumed, age, sex, and environment. The purpose of this study was to analyze the effect of giving vegetable waste silage in the ration on the percentage of carcasses, and to obtain the optimum percentage of male musk carcass feed formulations. The research was carried out experimentally using a completely randomized design (CRD). A total of 80 male mussels were placed in 20 cage plots, so that each cage plot consisted of 4 individuals. The type of treatment used was R0 (100% rice bran) as control, R1 (75% rice bran + 25% vegetable waste silage), R2 (50% rice bran + 50% vegetable waste silage), R3 (25% rice bran + 75% vegetable waste silage). Variables observed included live weight, carcass weight, carcass percentage and carcass percentage (breast, thigh, back and wings). The research data were analyzed using analysis of variance and if they showed significant differences then further tested using Duncan's multiple range test. The results showed that the use of vegetable waste silage feed had no significant effect on carcass weight (p>0,05). However, vegetable waste silage can be used as additional feed for rice brand not lass than 25% and not more than 50%. The results showed that treatment R1 (75% rice bran + 25% vegetable waste silage) and R2 treatment (50% rice bran + 50% vegetable waste silage) produced good carcass and percentage carcass weight in male ducks.

Abstract

Blood urea nitrogen (BUN) is an indicator of the efficiency of protein use in metabolism which is correlated with energy adequacy status. This study aimed to analyze and measure differences in energy adequacy status of arrowroot ewes in the premating, pregnancy, and lactation phases that were fed a complete diet of sorghum indigofera. The method used experimentally with Completely Randomized Design (CRD). There were 2 feed treatments, namely field grass (RL) as control and complete feed based on forage sorghum indigofera with a composition of 50% sorghum silage + 40% indigofera hay + 10% fine bran (SI) and repeated 14 times. The data obtained were analyzed using a two sample t-test. The results showed that there was a decrease in BUN in both treatments in each phase, but overall the average BUN value did not show a significant difference (P>0.05). Significant differences (P<0.05) only occurred at the beginning of pregnancy, mid and late lactation with BUN values of 21.18±1.04; 13.25±0.60; 15.18±0.67 for RL and 18, respectively. ,61±1.10; 15.86±0.82; 12.43±0.56 for SI. So it can be concluded that complete feed based on sorghum indigofera has the same energy change status as field grass, and in SI it can be used as a substitute for field grass.

Abstract

One of the strategies employed to augment the population of Pasundan cattle is the implementation of an Artificial Insemination (AI) program. The efficacy of the insemination process is significantly contingent upon the quality of the spermatozoa following the thawing of frozen semen. The selection of an appropriate frozen semen diluent can enhance the efficacy of the AI process. The objective of this study was to analyze the impact of egg yolk tris and skim milk diluent on the quality of spermatozoa derived from frozen semen of Pasundan cattle following thawing. Additionally, the study aimed to assess the extent of variation in spermatozoa quality produced after thawing, based on the type of frozen semen diluent utilized. The study was conducted using a completely randomized design (CRD). A total of 30 frozen semen samples of Pasundan cattle were randomly assigned to two treatment groups, with 15 replicates in each group. The two treatments were a frozen semen dilution using egg yolk tris and skim milk. The parameters observed included motility, viability, and intact plasma membrane (IPM) of spermatozoa following the thawing of frozen semen. Moreover, to ascertain the extent of the discrepancy between the two treatments, the data were subjected to a t-test. The findings indicated that the use of yellow tris as a diluent resulted in a higher spermatozoa motility rate (p<0.05) compared to skim milk as a diluent (47.73 ± 0.67 vs. 14.16 ± 1.55).  Furthermore, the two types of diluents did not have a significant effect on post-thawing spermatozoa viability (p>0.05). In contrast, the variable of intact plasma membrane (IPM) demonstrated a higher number for the skim milk diluent (p<0.05) than the egg yolk tris (79.71 ± 1.30 vs. 75.59 ± 1.38). The motility of post-thaw spermatozoa is the factor that plays the most pivotal role in the effectiveness of artificial insemination. It can be concluded that egg yolk tris is a superior type of frozen semen diluent for Pasundan cattle, as evidenced by its ability to produce a greater of spermatozoa motility than skim milk diluent.

Abstract

This study aims to analyse the physical quality and protein content of broiler chicken meat resulting from the substitution of fish meal and soybean meal with Indigofera (Indigofera zollingeriana) leaf meal  (ILM) in the ration and to obtain the ideal substitution level of fish meal and soybean meal with Indigofera leaf meal in the ration to produce the best physical quality and protein content of broiler chicken meat. The study was conducted experimentally on 100 broiler chickens for 35 days using a Completely Randomized Design (CRD). The treatments given were the substitution of fish meal and soybean meal in the ration with five levels of ILM, namely: 0% (P0 as control), 25% (P1), 30% (P2), 35% (P3), and 40% (P4), each treatment was repeated 4 times. The variables observed included the degree of acidity (pH), cooking loss, water-holding capacity (WHC), and meat protein content. The data obtained were analyzed using variance analysis (ANOVA) and further tested using Duncan's Multiple Range Test (DMRT). The results showed that substituting fish meal and soybean meal in the ration did not significantly affect (p>0.05) the pH value and cooking loss of broiler chicken meat. In contrast to the variable of water holding capacity, the ILM substitution of 25% produced the highest number (p<0.05) compared to the control and other substitution levels, which was 37.38%. The lowest meat water holding capacity occurred at % ILM substitution level of 40% (19.64%). Furthermore, the crude protein content of the meat showed an increasing trend along with the ILM substitution level. The highest crude protein content was obtained at the ILM substitution level of 35%, significantly different (p<0.05) from the control treatment and the ILM substitution level of 25%. Substituting fish and soybean meal with ILM increased the crude protein content and physical properties except for broiler chicken meat's pH and cooking loss value.
