Abstract

This study aims to explore the effectiveness of multisensory methods in improving Indonesian phoneme mastery in primary school students. This study uses a qualitative approach with a case study design conducted on first-grade students at SD Negeri 1 Sinduadi. The research subjects were selected purposively, considering the characteristics of students who are in the early stages of literacy. Data were collected through observation of student learning activities, interviews with teachers and students, and documentation of learning activities. All data were analysed using thematic analysis techniques to identify patterns of change in student behaviour and phoneme skills. The results of the study indicate that the multisensory method can significantly improve sensory engagement, learning motivation, and phoneme retention. Students find it easier to distinguish between similar phoneme sounds and demonstrate positive learning transfer outside the classroom. However, the application of this method requires teachers to be prepared in terms of preparing teaching aids and adjusting strategies to student characteristics. Overall, the multisensory method has proven to be effective and enjoyable in supporting basic literacy achievement in primary schools, so it is recommended that it be applied more widely with adequate resources and training for teachers.

Abstract

This study examines the language variation and virtual interaction patterns of Indonesian Generation Z on the Roblox platform. Employing a digital ethnography approach combined with multimodal discourse analysis, data were collected through participant observation, semi-structured interviews, and chat log analysis. The findings reveal five dominant communication patterns: (1) the prevalence of code-mixing (blending Indonesian and English), (2) a complex system of nonverbal communication through emotes and gestures, (3) the use of slang and abbreviations as identity markers, (4) sociolinguistic awareness in varying language registers based on social relations, and (5) the significant influence of globalization and digital content on language practices. These findings indicate that Generation Z develops multimodal communication competencies and forms unique hybrid linguistic identities by integrating local and global elements within the virtual space. This research contributes to the understanding of language evolution in the digital era and has implications for the development of digital literacy.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the use of Indonesian among Generation Z and its relevance to the function of the national language in the digital age. As a generation of digital natives, Generation Z presents both challenges and opportunities in efforts to preserve Indonesian. This study uses a phenomenological qualitative approach with data collection techniques through in-depth interviews, observation of linguistic activities on social media, and analysis of digital documents. The data were analysed thematically through a process of reduction, categorisation, and meaning extraction to identify distinctive patterns of language use. The results show that Generation Z's language practices are characterised by linguistic creativity, code-mixing between Indonesian and foreign languages, and the emergence of new forms of digital expression. A gap was also found between normative language policies and the more dynamic and flexible language practices of Generation Z. The implications of this research emphasise the importance of developing adaptive, participatory, and digitally-based language policy and development models so that Indonesian remains relevant and competitive amid global disruption

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the learning difficulties in Bahasa Indonesia experienced by high school students as well as the contributing factors. The research employed a descriptive qualitative approach with data collection techniques including observation, interviews, and documentation. The findings indicate that students face difficulties in four language skills reading, writing, speaking, and listening. In reading, students struggle to understand the main ideas and the content of texts In writing, numerous spelling errors and poorly structured paragraphs were found; In speaking, students show a lack of confidence and limited vocabulary while in listening, students are often unfocused, making it difficult to grasp important information. These difficulties are influenced by internal factors such as low reading interest, lack of learning motivation, and limited vocabulary, as well as external factors such ad monotonous teaching methods and an unsupportive learning environment. Therefore, more varied learning strategies and the strengthening of literacy culture in schools are needed to improve students language proficiency

Abstract

This study aims to analyse the role of Indonesian language literacy in improving the critical thinking skills of students in economics study programmes. The study was conducted using a qualitative descriptive approach through literature review and analysis of learning documents related to the development of literacy and critical thinking skills. The data were analysed by examining the relationship between Indonesian language literacy practices, learning strategies, and the academic context in which the learning process took place. The results of the study indicate that Indonesian language literacy plays an important role in shaping students' critical thinking skills. Literacy not only functions as a means of scientific communication, but also as a foundation for building analytical thinking through activities such as reflective writing, academic discussions, and economic text analysis. The use of digital technology, such as writing applications and online discussion forums, supports this process by providing a wider space for interaction and information processing. In addition, lecturer support in integrating literacy with critical learning approaches and a conducive academic environment also strengthens the development of students' critical thinking skills. These findings emphasise that strengthening Indonesian language literacy needs to be an integral part of the education process in the field of economics in order to produce graduates who are communicative, analytical, and able to respond to global developments

Abstract

This study analyzes the semantic adaptation of foreign terms in Indonesian mutual fund terminology. A descriptive qualitative approach was employed to examine data sourced from documents issued by the Financial Services Authority (OJK), mutual fund prospectuses, and investment manager websites. Drawing on the theoretical frameworks of Haugen (1972) and Weinreich (1953), the study identifies four patterns of adaptation: (1) direct translation (e.g., alokasi aset [asset allocation]), (2) indirect translation (e.g., manajer investasi [investment manager]), (3) direct use of foreign terms (e.g., NAV, portfolio), and (4) semantic modification (e.g., penarikan unit [unit withdrawal] for redemption). The findings indicate that semantic adaptation plays a significant role in enriching vocabulary, reducing ambiguity, establishing terminological consistency, and supporting financial literacy. The study concludes that this process serves as a crucial strategy for bridging global concepts with local understanding, facilitating effective communication, and reinforcing the identity of the Indonesian language in the financial domain

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the experiences of working students in hybrid learning at higher education institutions by highlighting the challenges, strategies, adaptations, and their implications. The study uses an interpretative phenomenological analysis (IPA) qualitative approach, with participants being early-semester students who work part-time. Data were collected through interviews, observations, and diary entries, then analyzed based on the six stages of IPA with reference to communication theory, academic integration, and communication anxiety. Data analysis was conducted using the Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis (IPA) approach. Research results show that hybrid learning increases motivation, digital literacy, independence, and time efficiency, but also presents technical, academic, and psychological obstacles, particularly related to time management, communication anxiety, and infrastructure limitations. The success of working students is greatly influenced by individual readiness, lecturer support, social environment, and campus policies. This study concludes that hybrid learning is a relevant and adaptive learning model, but requires a targeted implementation strategy to minimize obstacles

Abstract

Online games have become a popular communication space for various age groups, forming unique patterns of language interaction among players. This study aims to analyse the use of Indonesian in online game player communication and examine the social influences that arise from such language practices. The research uses a qualitative descriptive method by observing player conversations, analysing the content of communication in the game, and reviewing the forms of language use that emerge, such as slang, abbreviations, code-mixing, and emotional expressions. The results show that players tend to use non-standard language, including slang and abbreviations, which affect the accuracy of Indonesian language usage. In addition, the use of foul language was also found to have a negative impact on the dynamics of interaction and communication culture in the gamer community. These findings indicate that language practices in online games not only reflect group identity but also influence the formation of attitudes and social relationships among players.
