Abstract

Diabetes mellitus (DM) is a chronic disease caused by the pancreas not being able to produce insulin effectively which is characterized by hyperglycemia. Blood sugar control can be done by adhering to the DM diet. Factors that influence adherence to diet include health locus of control (HLOC). The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between HLOC and adherence to a diet in DM sufferers in the working area of the Telaga Health Center. This type of research is quantitative using the Cross Sectional approach method. The study population consisted of 194 DM sufferers in the working area of the Telaga Health Center. The number of samples was 66. The sampling technique was Simple Random Sampling. The results showed that 27 respondents (41%) had high HLOC, 39 respondents (59%) had moderate HLOC, and found no low HLOC (0%). Respondents with adherence to a good diet were 15 respondents (22.7%), adherence to an adequate diet were 48 respondents (72.7%) and adherence to a bad diet were 3 respondents (4.6%). Using the Somers'D test, a p-value = (0.000) is obtained so that there is a relationship between HLOC and adherence to diet in DM sufferers in the working area of the Telaga Health Center

Abstract

Patients undergoing hemodialysis face many stressors, especially physical problems due to kidney failure. These problems often weaken the patient's adaptability. Adaptive and maladaptive coping mechanisms of patients undergoing hemodialysis can be influenced by various factors, namely age, length of time undergoing hemodialysis, self-efficacy and family support. The aim of the study was to describe the factors that influence coping mechanisms in hemodialysis patients at Prof. Dr. Aloei Saboe Hospital. The design in this study uses a descriptive research design. The population in this study were all hemodialysis patients at Prof. Dr. Aloei Saboe Hospital. The sample in the study amounted to 64 respondents with a total sampling technique. The research instrument used a questionnaire. The results of this study indicate that the coping mechanism of hemodialysis patients is mostly maladaptive as many as 33 respondents (51.6%) and the factors that influence coping mechanisms based on the length of time undergoing hemodialysis are mostly low as many as 33 respondents (51.6%), self-efficacy factor is also low as many as 33 respondents (51.6%) and the factor of family support is mostly good as many as 33 respondents (51.6%). Suggestions for nurses through the provision of nursing care can be used to monitor and improve patient education about the patient's coping mechanisms while undergoing hemodialysis.

Abstract

Introduction: Drug-resistant tuberculosis (TB RO) is still a threat in TB control and is one of the main public health problems in many countries in the world. Globally in 2019, it is estimated that 3.3% of new TB patients and 17.7% of previously treated TB patients will be drug-resistant TB patients. Objective: To determine the relationship between the level of knowledge about Drug-Resistant TB (TB-RO) and the level of medication adherence in pulmonary TB patients. Method: This type of research is quantitative research with analytical observational methods using a cross sectional approach. The population in this study was TB sufferers who were undergoing treatment at the Limboto Community Health Center, totaling 70 respondents. The research technique used accidental sampling to obtain a sample of 35 respondents. Data analysis used the Fishers exact test with the knowledge level questionnaire instrument and MMS-8. Results: The results showed that 29 respondents had good knowledge and were compliant with taking medication, 4 respondents had poor knowledge and were compliant with taking medication, and 2 respondents had poor knowledge and were not compliant with taking medication. The statistical test results showed that p-Value = 0.025, which means less than (α = 0.05), indicating that there is a relationship between the level of knowledge about TB-RO and adherence to taking medication. Conclusion: The patient's lack of knowledge about the disease and the use of drugs for therapy results in the patient's lack of understanding of the therapy being undertaken, which causes patient non-compliance in using the medication.
