Abstract

The existence of Wild Betta fish in Belitung Island needs to be studied. This study aims to analyze the differences in the morphology of two species of Wild Betta fish from Belitung Island based on the morphometric characteristics and habitat of these fish. The method used in this research is quantitative descriptive. This research was conducted in freshwater located in Dukong Village, Simpang Pesak District, East Belitung Regency from May to June 2020. The fish samples obtained were 35 fish consisting of 20 Betta uberis fish and 15 Betta edithae fish. The data obtained were analyzed descriptively and presented in graphs or tables. The results showed that the comparison of the morphometric ratio patterns found in the two Wild Betta fish species differed specifically from several characters, including Total Length (PT), Body Length (PB), Tail Length (PE), and Head Height (TK). Meanwhile, based on the ratio of morphometric characters, there are 3 main characteristics, namely: 1) Tail Length (PE) (1.249); 2) Head Length (PK) (0.869); 3) Width Body I (LB-I) (1,126); 4) Head Length (PK) (0.816); 5) Body Width II (LB-II) (0.337); and 6) Body Length (PB) (0.436). The habitat of Wild Betta fish from Belitung Island generally inhabits peat waters with fairly low pH conditions, ranging from 4-5 with the color of the waters that tend to be black to brownish.

Abstract

In the general theory of relativity (GTR), black holes are defined as objects with very strong gravitational fields even light can not escape. Therefore, according to GTR black hole can be viewed as a non-thermodynamic object. The worldview of a black hole began to change since Hawking involves quantum field theory to study black holes and found that black holes have temperatures that analogous to black body radiation. In the theory of quantum gravity there is a term of the minimum length of an object known as the Planck length that demands a revision of Heisenberg's uncertainty principle into a Generalized Uncertainty Principle (GUP). Based on the relationship between the momentum uncertainty and the characteristic energy of the photons emitted by a black hole, the temperature and entropy of the non-stationary black hole (Vaidya-Bonner black hole) were calculated. The non-stationary black hole was chosen because it more realistic than static black holes to describe radiation phenomena. Because the black hole is dynamic then thermodynamics studies are conducted on both black hole horizons: the apparent horizon and its event horizon. The results showed that the dominant correction term of the temperature and entropy of the Vaidya-Bonner black hole are logarithmic.

Abstract

Hydroxyapatite is bioceramics which have conducive biocompatible property and have been widely used in bone scaffolds. Although they have potential development, there have not been any matematical model that elaborates the relation between the parameter of synthetic conditons and the mechanical properties of hydroxyapatite. That is why, this article tries to present the relation model between the hardness of hydroxyapatite based on variety of synthetic conditions and sintering temperature, relative density, and the size of particle as well. Developing hardness model is performed on the basis of its relation with the responses from each experiment factor. Validating model which was carried out through comparison between the model and the data of experiments indicates that the model proposed has a good accuracy and capable for explaining the bond between the parameter of synthetic and the hardness of hydroxyapatite.

Abstract

Dye-sensitized Solar Cell (DSSC) is a solar cell that uses dye as one of its components. DSSC is interesting to develop because it can be fabricated simply with low production costs. This study aims to develop a DSSC that uses dye-sensitized from natural ingredients to be environmentally friendly. We chose betel nut (Areca catechu L.) as a natural dye source because betel nut has a reddish-brown color and is often used as a natural dye. The stages of this research consisted of betel nut extraction, TiO2 deposition, manufacture of a carbon layer on the counter electrode, and DSSC fabrication. Measurement of DSSC performance under solar irradiation with an intensity of 292 W/m2 shows that the fabricated DSSC can produce a voltage of up to 216 mV with a current of 0.03 mA. Variations in the concentration of TiO2 positioned on the ITO substrate indicate that higher concentrations of TiO2 can produce higher DSSC voltages

Abstract

As an archipelago, handling plastic waste in the Province of Bangka Belitung Islands is an aspect that needs to be taken seriously. Apart from being focused on developing tourist areas, plastic waste will easily be carried to the sea and prone to be degraded into microplastics, often consumed by marine animals. This community service activity focuses on Penyak Village, Kec. Koba, Kab. Central Bangka, Bangka Belitung Islands. To solve the plastic problem in that location, the community service team conducted training for the community, especially for Pendidikan Kesejahteraan Keluarga (PKK) members, related to processing plastic waste into various recycled creations such as bags, pencil cases, and different kinds of souvenirs. The training program is carried out by providing materials and direct training to increase the understanding and skills. To broaden people's insights, the team conducted training with the Ecoplantstic start-up, which focuses on developing waste-based products. Through the evaluation, it is known that the training provided can improve the knowledge and skills of the community in processing plastic waste into various recycled creations, and several participants plan to develop the skills acquired for entrepreneurial purposes.

Abstract

This study aimed to synthesize calcium phosphate loaded with silver nanoparticles and evaluate its antibacterial activity. We used cockle shells waste as raw material to prepare calcium phosphate. X-ray diffraction analysis showed that the constituent phases of calcium phosphate consist of hydroxyapatite (HA) and β-tricalcium phosphate (β-TCP). The incorporation process of silver nanoparticles on calcium phosphate was carried out in colloidal silver nanoparticles via the green-synthesis method using Citrus x microcarpa Bunge peel extract. The presence of colloidal silver nanoparticles through the green synthesis method was identified using UV-Vis spectrophotometer by the peak of the absorption band that occurred at 468 nm. The incorporation of silver nanoparticles into calcium phosphate did not significantly change the crystalline properties of HA and β-TCP. Evaluation of the antibacterial activity showed the silver nanoparticles had a strong antibacterial effect against Staphylococcus aureus, which also occurs in calcium phosphate loaded by silver nanoparticles. After being incorporated with silver nanoparticles, Calcium phosphate generally has no antibacterial effect. After being incorporated with silver nanoparticles, an inhibition zone with a diameter of about 9.8 mm can form. These results indicated that the method proposed in this study could be an alternative for developing calcium phosphate, which requires self-sterilization properties.

Abstract

The use of solar energy to satisfy renewable energy in Indonesia has great potential. To improve the efficiency of solar collectors, some researchers proposed solar collectors that equipped by nanofluids as working fluids. CuO-based nanofluids are known as nanofluids that have excellent conductivity. The purpose of this study is to synthesise CuO nanofluids through egg white mediation methods, and it will be applied to simple distillation systems. Generally, the synthesising process is arranged based on the modification of the sol-gel method, and by the calcination, it will leave metal oxides, namely CuO-nanoparticles. The calcination temperature variation used is 150℃; 300℃; 500℃ and 700℃. According to Debye-Scherrer equations, it is known that, in optimal condition, we obtain CuO crystallite by the size is 42 nm. The use of CuO nanofluids can increase the conductivity of fluids and can increase the effectiveness of ethanol distillation by 81%.

Abstract

Abstract

Public awareness of the benefits of honey has increased the amount of honey consumption. This encourages the circulation of impure honey in the market by irresponsible traders. Therefore, characteristic information of honey is needed as a basis for honey purity testing methods. Physical characteristics analyzed in this study are the refractive index, permittivity, density and color quantization of honey. In general, it can be seen that the higher the concentration of honey, the higher the refractive index and its density and inversely proportional to the permittivity. Color analysis also shows that concentration is inversely proportional to the color intensity level.
