Abstract

The purpose of this study is to evaluate the stages of effective school performance based on 11 characteristics of effective schools as well as to evaluate the level of correlation between individual characteristics of effective schools and the contribution of the school principal leadership to an effective school. 60 school principals and 105 teachers in 16 schools became sample of the research. The number of teachers took as many as 7 to 10 people for each school. The quantitative data were obtained through a set of instruments on 11 characteristics of effective schools. The data were then analyzed descriptively using frequency, min score, percentage, standard deviation, and inferential statistics (Pearson’s correlation, simple linear regression). Findings showed the stages of effective school performance of Public Senior High Schools in Padang as perceived by the principals and teachers were very high. There was a significant correlation between the professional principal leadership with the realization of 11 characteristics of effective schools. The professional principal leadership contributed as much as 58.5% to the realization of 11 characteristics of effective schools in Public Senior High Schools in Padang while the other percentage was contributed by other variabels not included in this study. The principal leadership was an important factor for the realization of 11 characteristics of effective schools in Public Senior High Schools in Padang.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the assessment of ethical leadership in Islamic High School principal; determine the relationship among ethical leadership constructs; and investigates the influence of ethical leadership in terms of value, serve, act justly, and do right to build the community for a common goal. Eight Islamic secondary schools and 80 teachers were selected as respondents for the study. Quantitative data obtained through a questionnaire which is modified from ethical leadership Perceived Leader Instrument Integrity Scale (LIS). The questionnaire was analyzed using mean and standard deviation, Pearson correlation, and path analysis with multiple regressions. The findings show that the assessment of ethical leadership matched with empirical data. It also found that leadership principals in the service of others was developed at the level of an ethical community, and in terms of respect for others is at unethical level. Then, the finding showed that each construct correlated at a moderate level. It also found that the constructs of ethical leadership (serve and act) provided direct influence on the establishment of a community development effort. The study recommended the elements of ethical leadership of respect for others.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine whether the use of the Listening Team type of cooperative learning model could improve student learning outcomes. This research was conducted in two cycles, each cycle consisting of three meetings. The subjects of this study were the fourth grade students of SD Negeri 16 Surau Gadang, Nanggalo Padang District, totaling 32 people.The research instruments used in this study were student learning process observation sheets, teacher learning process observation sheets and student learning outcomes. 68.7 percent and the average score at the end of the second cycle is 80.47 with a learning completeness percentage of 87.5 percent. Analysis of the student process observation sheet obtained the average percentage in the first cycle was 66.9 percent while in the second cycle the average percentage obtained was 83 percent. This means that the implementation of science learning through the Listening Team type cooperative learning model is going well. The results obtained can be concluded that learning science through cooperative learning model type Listening Team can improve the process and learning outcomes of fourth grade students of SD Negeri 16 Surau Gadang, Nanggalo Padang District.

Abstract

The Sejalan Group is one of the Bundo Kanduang Small and Medium Industry groups in Jorong Koto Simalanggang Nagari, Payakumbuh District, Limapuluh Kota Regency. This group consists of 13 housewives who focus on food processing, including processing noodles made from fruit, vegetables and other food ingredients. The aim of this activity is community empowerment carried out in Nagari Simanggang through the transfer of knowledge, skills and technology to increase the production of Sejalan Group noodles. The stages of community service activities include preparation, implementation, evaluation and reporting stages. The problems faced by the Sejalan Group in producing noodles are the drying process and the taste of the noodles. Drying is done naturally by drying in the sun. This affects the quantity and quality of the noodle products produced. The results obtained from this activity were an increase in the group's noodle production in line with the presence of a drying tool in the form of an oven. Apart from that, adding flavors to noodles with the addition of chicken and shrimp flavors is able to increase consumer appeal for noodle products and increase the income of the Sejalan Group. The addition of chicken and shrimp is also aimed at increasing the nutritional content of noodle products. From this activity, it can be concluded that the community service activities that have been carried out have had a positive effect on increasing the business of the women of the Sejalan Group.

Abstract

The objective of this activity is to implement integrated farming in agriculture and livestock to enhance efficiency, food security, and household income. The partner's main production challenges include low productivity in agriculture and livestock, caused by the high cost of fertilizers, pesticides, and livestock feed. Economically, the partner struggles with low income due to high production costs and limited productivity, which negatively impacts family welfare. Additionally, environmental pollution caused by accumulated agricultural and livestock waste poses a significant issue. The implementation methods involved socialization of integrated farming benefits, training on compost production, liquid organic fertilizer (LOF), and pesticide processing from livestock waste, as well as feed processing from agricultural waste through cassava peel fermentation. Following the training, compost, LOF, and pesticides were applied to horticultural crops, and fermented feed was utilized for livestock. The outcomes of this activity include the successful conversion of livestock waste into compost, LOF, and biopesticides, as well as cassava peel waste into high-quality feed. Compost, LOF, and biopesticides have been applied to horticultural crops as a source of family food, while fermented cassava peel waste has been utilized as feed for cattle, free-range chickens, and ducks. Through this initiative, KWT Indah Sari managed to reduce chemical fertilizer costs by 40%, and the use of cassava peel waste as feed has replaced 50% of forage for cows and 50% of corn in duck and chicken feed. In conclusion, integrated farming has proven effective in reducing production costs, thereby increasing household income.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the implementation stage of history learning process for students at the Pesantren Buya Hamka; the stages of knowledge, attitudes, and behavior of students regarding nationalism and patriotism; and the correlation of leadership variables, school climate, teacher performance, and pesantren culture to history learning and also to students’ knowledge, attitudes, and behavior regarding nationalism and patriotism. This study also aims to find out the significant influence of historical learning variables on knowledge, knowledge variables on attitudes and attitudes on students’ behavior. This study combines survey research quantitative approach with descriptive, correlation, and regression methods. The results show there is a significant correlation between independent variables with historical learning variables and student knowledge variables about nationalism and patriotism. Meanwhile, there is no significant correlation between independent variables and student behavior variables. The results also show only the history of learning variables among the five independent variables that significantly influence the knowledge of nationalism and student patriotism. Student knowledge variables about nationalism and patriotism partially also affect changes in student attitudes, while changes in student attitudes do not affect linearly on changes in student behavior. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui tahap pelaksanaan pembelajaran sejarah siswa di Pesantren Buya Hamka Kota Padang; tahap pengetahuan, sikap dan perilaku siswa berkenaan dengan nasionalisme dan patriotisme melalui pembelajaran sejarah; dan korelasi variabel  kepemimpinan, iklim sekolah, kinerja guru dan kultur Pesantren terhadap pembelajaran sejarah dan juga terhadap pengetahuan, sikap dan perilaku siswa berkenaan dengan   nasionalisme dan patriotisme. Kemudian, penelitian ini juga bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi pengaruh signifikan variabel pembelajaran sejarah terhadap pengetahuan, pengaruh variabel pengetahuan terhadap sikap dan pengaruh sikap terhadap perilaku  siswa. Penelitian ini perpaduan penelitian survey dengan   pendekatan kuantitatif dengan metode deskriptif, korelasi dan regresi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan terdapat korelasi signifikan antara variabel indenpendent dengan variabel pembelajaran sejarah dan variabel pengetahuan siswa tentang nasionalisme dan patriotisme. Sementara itu, tidak terdapat korelasi yang signifikan antara variabel independen dengan variabel perilaku siswa. Berikutnya  hasil analisis menunjukkan hanya variabel pembelajaran sejarah diantara lima variabel indenpenden yang berpengaruh secara signifikan terhadap pengetahuan nasionalisme dan patriotisme siswa. Variabel pengetahuan siswa tentang nasionalisme dan patriotisme secara parsial juga berpengaruh terhadap perubahan sikap siswa, sementara perubahan sikap siswa tidak berpengaruh secara linear terhadap perubahan perilaku siswa.
