Abstract

Abstract

The world today faces multiple crises—ecological, social, and moral—that call for the emergence of a generation with a strong spiritual foundation, resilience, and clarity of values in every aspect of leadership. This study explored six dimensions of spiritual growth—Abide in Christ, Live by God’s Word, Pray in Faith, Fellowship with Believers, Witness to the World, and Minister to Others—within the context of Christian higher education. Data were collected from 132 students at Universitas Advent Indonesia using the Spiritual Growth Assessment Process (LifeWay Christian Resources).  Descriptive analysis revealed that "Pray in Faith" (M = 4.25, SD = 0.59) and "Abide in Christ" (M = 4.33, SD = 0.61) were the strongest practices, whereas "Minister to Others" (M = 3.54, SD = 0.94) indicated lower engagement. Correlation analysis revealed strong associations among the dimensions, with the highest between Witness to the World and Minister to Others (r = 0.881, p < 0.001). Multiple regression demonstrated that Minister to Others (β = 0.31, p < 0.001), Pray in Faith (β = 0.25, p = 0.01), and Live by God’s Word (β = 0.21, p = 0.03) significantly predicted Fellowship with Believers. The model accounted for 62% of the variance (R² = 0.62, p < 0.001). These findings confirm that prayer and moral formation are pivotal to spiritual growth, emphasizing the transformative role of Christian higher education in shaping graduates who unite intellectual competence with moral integrity and spiritual maturity.

Abstract

Obesity known as risk factor of non-communicable diseases such as; heart disease, hypertension, stroke, diabetes mellitus, and cancer. These diseases has become the top cause of death both globally and nationally. This study aims to investigate the relationship between demographic factors and the risk of obesity. This study utilized a quantitative method with a descriptive correlation approach. The subjects of the study were the Cihanjuang Rahayu villagers aged 26-45 year old who were selected by accidental sampling technique. A total of 150 subjects signed the informed concent to participate in this study. The data analysis using chi-square test showed a significant relationship between gender, age, occupation, marriage status and BMI (p<0.05). There is no significant relationship between income and BMI (p>0.5). Being female, married, middle age, and work as housewife are more likely to be obese. So people with these characteristic are encouraged to maintain BMI in normal range. Future research could examine other factors that have an effect on BMI such as nutritional intake.

Abstract

Background: Differences in body composition across adulthood are associated with increased metabolic risk and functional decline. Although body mass index (BMI) is widely used to assess nutritional status, it has limitations in distinguishing adiposity from skeletal muscle mass. Objective: This study aimed to analyze differences in body composition according to age and sex, and to examine the associations between age and BMI, total body fat, visceral fat, and skeletal muscle mass among Indonesian adults. Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted among 282 adults aged ≥18 years using purposive sampling. Body composition was assessed using bioelectrical impedance analysis. Statistical analyses included Spearman’s rho correlation, Kruskal–Wallis test, and ordinal logistic regression. Results: A total of 51.1% of participants were classified as obese, while 77.3% exhibited low skeletal muscle mass. Age was positively correlated with total body fat (ρ = 0.259; p < 0.001) and visceral fat (ρ = 0.267; p < 0.001), and negatively correlated with skeletal muscle mass (ρ = −0.294; p < 0.001). Middle-aged adults demonstrated the highest adiposity levels, whereas younger adults exhibited higher skeletal muscle mass. Conclusion: Older age was associated with increased adiposity and reduced skeletal muscle mass. Comprehensive body composition assessment is important to support early identification of metabolic risk and sarcopenic obesity.

Abstract

Living a healthy lifestyle considers various components that influence daily life. In contrast, an unhealthy lifestyle may lead to changes in body fat composition and biological age. This study aims to analyze the relationship between lifestyle with the distribution of body fat components and biological age. This cross-sectional quantitative was carried out in Cihanjuang Rahayu Village on men and women aged 30-60 years. Using the purposive sampling technique, 157 respondents was selected based on the predetermined age criteria. Data collection involved a questionnaire to assess lifestyle data, while an Omron device measured body fat composition. The data were analyzed using the Spearman correlation test with a significance level of 0,05. This study found no significant relationship between lifestyle and body fat composition in the subcutaneous tissue and legs (P-value > 0,05). However, a significant relationship was observed between a healthy lifestyle and body fat composition in trunk, arms, and biological age (P-value < 0,05). The findings of this study demonstrate a significant association between a healthy lifestyle and body fat distribution, especially in the trunk, arms, and biological age. Conversely, no significant relationship was found between lifestyle and body fat composition in the subcutaneous area or legs. These findings suggest that a healthy lifestyle can influence specific aspects of body composition, particularly in certain body regions.

Abstract

Physical activity plays a crucial role in maintaining a healthy and balanced body, particularly in relation to body composition, including muscle mass, body fat percentage, and biological age. This study aims to analyze the relationship between physical activity levels and muscle mass, body fat and biological age within the population of Cihanjuang Rahayu Village. This research employed an observational design with a cross-sectional approach. Data collection was conducted using the Global Physical Activity Questionnaire (GPAQ), a bioimpedance device (BIO Omron), and height measurements. The Chi-Square test was utilized for data analysis to assess the relationships between the variables. The total population for the study consisted of 242 individuals, based on predetermined inclusion and exclusion criteria. A sample of 151 respondents was selected using the Slovin formula with a 5% margin of error. Based on the physical activity scores from the population of Cihanjuang Rahayu Village, the highest score was from learning/working activities, with an average value of 4.89. The distribution of muscle mass among the community members showed that 59.6% fell into the moderate category, with muscle mass ranging from 19.9 to 29.7 kg. Regarding body fat, 36.4% of the community was categorized as having healthy body fat. The biological age of the community members was mostly in the early elderly category, representing 33.1% of respondents. From the Chi-Square test, the relationships between physical activity and muscle mass (p-value > 0,05), physical activity and body fat (p-value > 0,05), and physical activity and biological age (p-value > 0.05) showed no significant associations between physical activity and these body components. Although there was no significant relationship found between physical activity and muscle mass, body fat, or biological age, physical activity still plays a vital role in promoting overall health and well-being.

Abstract

Hypertension is influenced by multiple biological and behavioral factors; however, the relative contributions of body age and body composition remain unclear. This study examined the associations of lifestyle behaviors, body age, and body composition with blood pressure among 167 adults in Indonesia using a cross-sectional design. Lifestyle score, body age, body mass index (BMI), skeletal muscle mass, total body fat percentage, and blood pressure were assessed using standardized procedures. Spearman correlation and multiple linear regression analyses were performed. Body age was the only significant predictor of systolic blood pressure (β = .311, p = .002). In contrast, skeletal muscle mass (β = .172, p = .030) and total body fat percentage (β = .248, p = .017) were significant positive predictors of diastolic blood pressure. Lifestyle score and BMI were not significant predictors in the regression models. These findings suggest that physiological aging and body composition are more strongly associated with blood pressure than lifestyle behaviors. Incorporating body age and body composition assessments into cardiovascular risk screening may improve hypertension prevention and early intervention strategies.
