Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of using rock dust as a partial replacement of fine aggregate on the compressive strength of concrete. The substitution variations used were 0%, 30%, and 75% of sand with a concrete design quality of fc' 25 MPa and the mixture planning method refers to SNI 7656:2012. Tests conducted included material characteristics, slump, setting time, and concrete compressive strength at the ages of 7, 14, and 28 days. The results showed that increasing the rock dust content affected the properties of fresh and hardened concrete. The highest slump value was obtained at the 30% variation of 170 mm, while the fastest setting time occurred at the 75% variation of 163 minutes. The results of the compressive strength test showed that normal concrete (0%) had the highest compressive strength of 26.16 MPa at the age of 28 days, followed by the 30% variation of 25.38 MPa, and the 75% variation of 20.37 MPa. Overall, 30% coal dust substitution still produces compressive strength close to normal concrete, while 75% substitution causes a significant decrease in compressive strength.

Abstract

Lifting is a common activity in fabrication and construction processes. It is a hazardous activity; failure during the lifting process can cause permanent damage to the products or structures being worked on. Furthermore, failure during the lifting process can endanger worker safety and even jeopardize the entire project. Lifting operations require not only calculations of the lifting equipment’s capacity—such as cranes and supporting tools like slings and shackles—but also an assessment of structural strength. Therefore, structural analysis under lifting conditions is essential; errors in planning can have severe consequences for the project. The planning stages are carried out using STAADpro software, starting from geometric modeling through to inputting parameters in accordance with applicable standards and regulations, such as the load magnification factor specified in DNVGL-ST -N001 Marine Operations and Marine Warranty, and the results of the analysis using STAADpro are re-verified through manual calculations in accordance with SNI 1729-2020 Specifications for Structural Steel Buildings. This verification process is carried out to ensure that the numerical analysis results obtained meet the requirements for strength, stability, and structural performance in accordance with design standards.

Abstract

Abstract

Construction projects often face financial challenges that can lead to contractor profits or losses during project implementation. Factors such as labor productivity, material availability, equipment management, financial conditions, and field conditions may significantly affect contractor financial performance. Therefore, identifying these factors is important to improve project management and reduce financial risks. Objective: This study aims to analyze the factors influencing contractor profits and losses in the Boemi Oemmi Luxury Kost Garut construction project and to identify the most dominant factors as well as the actions implemented to address these factors. Method: This research employed a quantitative descriptive approach. Data were collected through questionnaires distributed to respondents involved in the construction project, including contractors, consultants, and project owners. The sampling technique used was purposive sampling. The collected data were analyzed using descriptive statistical methods, including mean value analysis and the Relative Importance Index, to determine the ranking of factors influencing contractor profits and losses. Findings: The results show that labor factors are the most dominant factor influencing contractor profits and losses in the Boemi Oemmi Luxury Kost Garut development project, while equipment factors have the lowest influence. In terms of the implementation of actions to address these factors, material-related issues were found to be the most highly applied factor, whereas weather-related factors were the least applied. Implications: The findings of this study provide practical implications for construction project stakeholders by emphasizing the importance of improving workforce productivity, strengthening material procurement planning, and enhancing project management strategies to minimize financial risks and improve contractor profitability. Originality: The originality of this study lies in its empirical analysis of contractor profit and loss factors within a specific construction project context using a structured ranking approach through the Relative Importance Index, which provides a systematic evaluation of factors influencing contractor financial performance.
