Abstract

Effective postoperative pain management is a key element in patient recovery after surgery, but often standard protocols do not take advantage of the potential of real-time data and digital technology for more responsive therapy adjustments. The aim of this study was to identify the latest innovations in digital-based postoperative pain management. A literature review examined the use of digital technology in postoperative pain management, focusing on smartphone apps, wearable devices, and real-time data analytics for monitoring patient pain with the keywords "Pain Management AND Digital Postoperative" OR "Digital Health AND Pain Management" AND "Technology" OR "Information Systems". The year of the source of the literature taken is 2019-2024. Database searches use Scopus, Pub Med, Sage Journal, and Google Scholar. The findings of this review suggest that the integration of digital technology in postoperative pain management can improve the personalization of care by allowing for more accurate and responsive therapy adjustments to changes in patients' pain conditions. Data-Based Approaches in the Digital Era are Virtual Reality (VR), PASHA Application (pain assessment, stimulating and healing application), A wireless intelligent PCA (Wi-PCA) AI (Artificial Intelligence), Cell Phone Application, Wearable Devices, Mhealth, NeuroCuple, LINE, Digital Intervention Group, The Panda App and A Digital Application. Wearable apps and devices effectively monitor pain and enable real-time therapy adjustments. Digital-based innovation can be used as an alternative nursing intervention for post-operative pain management.

Abstract

Critical patients with ICU room treatment have high morbidity and mortality. Prolonged use of mechanical ventilation can result in a reduction in the strength of the respiratory muscles. The purpose of this review article is to explain the effectiveness of the implementation of IMT in Intensive Care Unit patients. The research design used the PRISMA guideline with a literature search strategy on the Scopus database (n=10), ProQuest (n=1), Web of Science (n=913), PubMed (n=291), and Google Scholar (n=800), with the keyword "Inspiratory Muscle Training OR IMT AND Intensive Care Unit OR ICU AND Breathing AND Ventilation". The selected articles used the Randomized Control Trial and Quasi-Experimental, Case, and Observational Cohort Study research designs. The year the source of the literature was taken is 2020-2024. The effectiveness of Inspiratory Muscle Training also depends on several factors, including the patient's specific health condition, the type of disease or injury, and the implementation and supervision of the exercise program. One of the benefits of IMT is increased respiratory muscle strength, reduced duration of mechanical ventilation, reduced risk of respiratory complications, and improved quality of life. Inspiratory Muscle Training (IMT) has shown effectiveness in various clinical contexts, including the ICU.

Abstract

The success of handling cases in the Emergency Department is very dependent on the nurse's response time. However, nurses' response time is greatly influenced by many factors. The purpose of writing this systematic review is to find out in detail the Factors That Affect the Response Time of Emergency Department Nurses in Indonesian Hospitals. The study was identified systematically by searching the database through the keywords "Response time AND nurses AND Factors AND Emergency Department Installation AND Indonesian Hospital" The results consist of several national and international journal data bases conducted research at Indonesian Hospital 16 articles. Eligible articles are selected according to inclusion criteria. This systematic review article is related to factors that affect the response time of nurses or emergency room health workers and is published in English or Indonesian based on the last 5 years of study (2020-2024). The instruments used in each study used a stopwatch, observation sheet and questionnaire to assess response time. The results of a review of this research article about nurse response time in the emergency room of Indonesian hospitals explain that the factors that can affect response time are 1). Age, 2). Priority of the patient or patient's condition, 3). Education, 4). Years of service service, 5). Nurse Skills Training, 6). Knowledge, and 7). Workload. Factors that affect internally are age, patient priorities or patient condition, education, service tenure, nurse skills training and external workload factors. It is hoped that the hospital can provide support and motivation to nurses to improve nurses' response time skills according to existing standards.

Abstract

The increasing use of gadgets among children aged 7–8 years has become a growing concern due to its potential to cause gadget addiction and emotional problems. Children who experience gadget addiction tend to show irritability, difficulty controlling emotions, decreased social interaction, and greater dependence on digital entertainment compared to other activities. Excessive gadget use may also interfere with children’s emotional development and social behavior. Drawing therapy is considered one of the non-pharmacological interventions that can help children express emotions creatively while diverting their attention from excessive gadget use. This study aimed to determine the effect of drawing therapy on gadget addiction and emotional conditions among children aged 7–8 years at SDN 2 Bakalan Pule Lamongan. This study employed a quasi-experimental method with a one-group pretest-posttest design. The sample consisted of 44 respondents selected using purposive sampling techniques. Data were collected using the Smartphone Addiction Scale (SAS) questionnaire and a children’s emotional questionnaire. Drawing therapy interventions were conducted for 30–45 minutes twice a week over four weeks. Data were analyzed using the Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test. The findings showed a significant decrease in gadget addiction levels after the intervention, with 75% of respondents categorized as having mild gadget addiction, while 55% demonstrated good emotional conditions. The study concludes that drawing therapy has a significant effect on reducing gadget addiction and improving emotional well-being among children aged 7–8 years.

Abstract

Background: Hypertensive crisis is an emergency condition that has the potential to cause damage to target organs and death if not treated quickly and appropriately. The low level of knowledge of the productive age community about the danger signs of a hypertension crisis can contribute to delays in seeking emergency medical attention. Purpose of this study is to determine the level of knowledge of productive age regarding the danger signs of a hypertensive crisis and emergency medical assistance seeking behavior. Methods: This study used a quantitative design with a cross-sectional approach conducted in Kelurahan Pakis, Sawahan, Surabaya, with a sample of 196 respondents selected using a simple random sampling technique. Data was collected using a structured questionnaire that has been tested for validity and reliability. Data analysis was carried out univariate and bivariate using the Chi-square test with a significance level of p < 0.05. Results: The results showed that most of the respondents had a good level of knowledge (36.7%), followed by the categories of sufficient (34.7%) and insufficient (28.6%). Emergency medical assistance seeking behavior was classified as good in 53.1% of respondents, but there were still 46.9% with inappropriate behavior. The results of the bivariate analysis showed a significant relationship between knowledge level and emergency medical assistance seeking behavior (p = 0.001). These findings show that knowledge level has an important role in shaping medical attention seeking behavior in hypertensive emergency conditions. Conclusion: Comprehensive interventions are expected to lower the risk of treatment delays and more severe complications.

Abstract

Introduction: Kidney stones (nephrolithiasis) are a common condition that can reduce the quality of life of those affected. One of the main factors influencing the formation of nephrolithiasis is poor hydration, which can lead to higher concentrations of stone-forming substances in the urine. Poor hydration habits, such as not drinking enough water, can increase the risk of nephrolithiasis. Method: This study is a quantitative study using the case-control method with a retrospective approach. The sample consisted of 32 respondents selected through purposive sampling. Result: This study found that drinking patterns affect the incidence of kidney stone disease (OR = 4.000) with a confidence level (IK) of 95% (1.712 - 9.346). Conclusion: From these results, it can be concluded that respondents with risky drinking patterns have a 4,000 times greater chance of developing kidney stones than respondents who do not have kidney stones. Keywords: determinants, drinking habits, kidney stones
